Waited 2-3 hours , works now. All good ! :)

      • What's the exchange rate like?

        • +1

          Turgame —> 19.18 AUD
          G2A.com —> 21.11 AUD

I used transferwise and the conversion rate is $7.22 v $7.17 Only 5c transfer fee. Proof https://ibb.co/TK4sSxt

They have also intergrated with Up! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/up.com.au and I wonder if that will work now?

I have also changed my Youtube Premium to this card as well bringing the price down lower: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/575086

The card is also Google Pay compatible.

It wasn't straight forward and requires a little workaround to work.

    Steps to Reproduce
    1. Signup to https://transferwise.com (Mod: disguised referral link removed)
    2. Deposit some money to your Transferwise card. I just added $100 to keep me out of trouble for 1 year. They are also offering Booking.com 10% discounts but my deal wasn't published. https://transferwise.com/partner/booking
    3. Order the debit card
    4. Activate the card
    5. Change billing details of the Mastercard to a Turkish address in Instanbul. Leave your phone number in AU
    6. Get a VPN. I use Surfshark [plenty of deals on OzBargain]
    7. Set the VPN to Turkey
    8. Go to https://netflix.com
    9. Signup to a new account / new email address
    10. If card does not work or if it does and you are asked for a Turkish phone number. Abort
    11. Turn off the VPN, set to Australia
    12. Sign in to Netflix AU and place your card details
    13. After billing details are added turn on the VPN to Turkey
    14. You will notice that the final page will display TL currency. Refresh if you need to
    15. Click confirm
    16. When browsing it will ask for your phone number
    17. Enter your AU phone number and it will work

    • Hey. Thanks.
Tried this but I can't seem to place the card details and save it. I goto netflix.com/account but there's only a blank screen and no fields to enter card details/

      • +1

That would be an internet connection issue. VPN? I signed up to a new account. Never went to the account page. Should be the signup page. Sorry for the confusion. Maybe avoid step 12 and reload the page once the VPN is off.

    • Hi, I sent you a message/started a conversation a day or two ago as I wanted to ask some questions about setting up Transferwise debit card to do the payment. Sorry to bother you if you are really busy. If you can/when you have time, could you please reply to the message/s (conversation) I sent?

Was on Argentina last month. Let account expire. Was able to reactivate and change to Turkey. Most annoying thing is my Up card would not work. Only ING. How do I make it accept my UP card?

  • +3

What an almighty hassle. Spent a couple of days trying to activate a Turkish account. Just could not get around the telephone number check on new accounts (tried registering with three separate emails). I followed instructions to switch between AU and Turkish VPN server, add tel number and card first, or not, then I cancelled my wife's Netflix account and waited until that expired to sign up - still wouldn't work.

It just wouldn't accept any Australian cards - 28 Degrees, Citibank Plus, Nab, Westpac, even with overseas authorisation enabled - so I bought a gift card and bingo I set up a new account. Bought a 100 TL gift card from www.turgame.com - 11.26 EUR or A$19.27 on my 28 Degrees card, took about 10 minutes to email through. They also accept Paypal but charge an extra couple of bucks fee.

I signed up for a Standard account @ 29.99TL, and was auto upgraded to Premium for the first month (no free trial with gift cards). I was asked for a mobile number during setup but continued without entering. I logged in later with VPN off, added my oz mobile number and received SMS verification, which will only go through once you have paid for an account. I also changed my Standard account to Premium going forward @ 41.99TL after the first month, which works out at A$8.07/month via my gift card purchase.

I haven't tried to add a credit card to my account yet, will see how it goes and wait until the gift card is due to expire in mid-Jan. I don't expect any issues but if cc doesn't work, I'll just continue with gift cards.

    • Nice find. If using cards w/o fx fees like Citibank or 28 Degrees, it’s actually cheaper than sites like Eneba or G2A.

      • Yep. Gifts cards cost about 13% above face value, so even credit cards with the usual 3% foreign transaction fees are much cheaper. Consider yourself lucky if you can set it up with any credit card first up.

        • Transferwise is the best way atm, I reckon. You can check the comment above yours.

          • @hawkeye93: Cheers. Signed up and got a Transferwise debit card anyway - too easy.

          • +1

@hawkeye93: Yep transfer wise is amazing. But slow with physical cards at the moment. Be patient.

I like the instant push notifications.

        • +2

I just had a chat with Netflix support team and successfully added Citibank Debit card to my account. Just ask them to give you a secured form via chat and you can enter card details. Citibank may temporarily block your card and send a warning message to your mobile number so just answer 'Y' to that text. Then tell Netflix support staff to resend the form and enter details once again. It should go through now.

          • @hawkeye93: After trying this method with three different credit cards (Transferwise, ANZ, UP), I ended up following Sepa's turgame.com method, got a gift card (although it took around 15 hours to get it, they were probably closed).
Turned off the VPN, then tried updating my card, wouldn't work again, so I went on Livechat as Hawkeye93 suggested and asked for a secure card form and got it all working that way.

    • +1

      Did you pay via gpay.com.tr?

      • Yep. I was redirected via this website for OTP verification.

I got a Netflix Turkey plan working this way.
    1. Create an account or use an old inactive account. Enter Australian number.
    2. Subscribe to an Australian (basic) plan. I entered my Transferwise card (with a Turkish address) as suggested by Korban Dallas above (Thanks!). Using a non-Tranferwise card may/ may not work.
    3. Cancel plan. Plan is active for a month.
    4. Connect to Netflix chat and ask them to cancel the plan immediately. They processed a refund of the money (A$10) spent on the Australian plan.
    5. Wait a few hours - may not be needed
    6. Login again to account (without VPN). Will land on the "restart membership" screen.
    7. Connect to Turkish VPN server (I used free Windscribe on my mobile using Chrome)
    8. Click the restart membership and get to the plans page. Shows Turkish plans. (Did this on the mobile as the desktop VPN was playing up).
    9. Click the plan you want. (I got the 4K plan).
    10. It did not ask me for further payment details as the card was already in the system. The card was charged A$7.21
    11. Hope they don't cancel the plan/ account

    • +1

Thanks man, got this working with the way you said.

      • Does netflix refund when you renew the subscription and cancel immediately?

        • They did for me. Money came back to the card in a couple of days.

  • +3

Successfully changed from Argentina to Turkey using Windscribe.

    1. Cancelled Plan 1 day before the end of Billing Cycle.

    2. Waited until 1 day after end of Billing Cycle to Re-subcribe.

    3. Existing payment method (Citibank Debit) processed no issues, no mobile verification.

Charged $5.18AUD for Standard Plan, happy days

    • +1

Exactly. Many people suggested to remove existing card details but I shouldn't have done that. Anyway, you can add your card details once again via chat.

      • I have removed my existing card too before the move and cannot add it back now..Should have left the card on file and try to move to Turkey first. Remove card via chat only if it causes any problem when renewing membership

  • From my and others' experience… it seems what needs to be done is to let the current subs expire, leave the card details in place. Then after a day or so use a Turkish VPN server to re-subscribe and Netflix will not ask for payment details again.

    • I just tried and it didn't work for me, but I also didn't wait a full 24 hours. It's been about 21 hours since my subscription has lapsed.

I wonder what I should do/try now? What do you guys think I should do? I've currently got my credit card details in and also phone number saved, should I ask for the credit card details to be removed?

      • +1

It pretty much keeps saying "There was an error processing your payment information. Please check that all fields are filled out correctly and try again."

        • Did the site ask you to re-enter payment details?
Does the account page (www.netflix.com/account) show the card details and NO plan?

          • @Amaris: Yes it does. Is that good or bad? It shows the card details listed, phone number, but no plan.

            • @Ice009: Oh OK. My account showed the card details and phone too. When I then logged in on the browser on the phone, and clicked the plans page with a VPN, the plan just went through. :-(

      • Try the gift card option and later add the debit/credit card to your account via secured chat with support team.

        • Where do you recommend purchasing the gift card from?

Also, should I ask the support team to remove the CC details via chat? And should I try my debit mastercard instead (it's issued from the same bank, though).

What is Transferwise that people keep mentioning quite a bit in the last page?

          • @Ice009: Transferwise is an international money transfer service that reduces fees by avoiding currency conversions (where they can). Essentially if i sent AUD to EURO they keep the AUD and hope someone else is sending EURO to elsewhere. they use that persons EUROs to give me my EUROs etc etc.

In summary, good forex rates. also they have a debit card you can sign up to.

        • How do you add debit/credit card via secured chat? The chat person told me they couldn't do that. All they did was remove my credit card details and then I had to try the signup process all over again and manually add my debit card, but it didn't work (same as my credit card).

Thanks for all the help so far.

      • Yes, same as you - I had a card already saved and it didn't accept it to resubscribe with "There was an error processing your payment information. Please check that all fields are filled out correctly and try again.".

I tried a number of cards (28 Degrees, Citibank, ING, Amex) - all didn't work. None of my providers texted me either, so I think this is probably Netflix's choice (perhaps they are clamping down).

For now, I just went down the gift card path and that works fine over Windscribe VPN.

  • I changed accounts from Argentina to Turkey with Windscribe.

As I'm also moving cards (ING to UP), was able to get card updated via Chat (Account Support).

Just ask for a secure form.

Thanks for the help everyone :)

    • Can you add the same credit card number via secure form, or should I add a different one (try my debit mastercard instead)?

Also, I went to the chat, but the chat person just removed my credit card number from my account. What is the secure form? They never gave me one.

If I can't get it working, what is the next cheapest country for the Premium/Ultra plan, and what does the price end up being in AUD?

  • Cheers op, and fellow OZBers for the help.

I was previously AU premium plan and had verified my phone number already.

    1. Cancelled subscription and waited till it was fully canceled + day
    2. Chatted with Netflix, got them to remove my saved card details (I couldn't re-sub with any card or had an option to use a gift card)
    3. Bought G2A Turkish Netflix gift card
    4. Downloaded Hola (Free VPN extension for Chrome) and changed to Turkey.
    5. Resubbed with gift card
    6. Chat to Netflix and updated card details.
    • When you were chatting with Netflix, were you logged in with the VPN, or just your regular internet connection?

      • Just regular old Australian interwebs

        • Alright, thanks.

I just spoke with Netflix chat and they told me the debit card and credit card are getting declined on my provider's end. I rang my bank and they said it's not on their end and that their is a problem with the merchant terminal and to tell them that. I contacted Netflix again, and told them what my bank said, but they then said the card must be

Cards must be enabled for auto recurring e-commerce transactions & international charges to work with Netflix

I quoted that to my credit card/debit card provider (Westpac) and they again said the problem is not on their end. They said there is a problem with the "Merchant Terminal."
I contacted Netflix chat one last time and they said this:

Make sure that the 3 factors are enabled and it's issued in the country where you are physically located. I already send the link that contains the payment options that you can use in your physical locatioin.

At that point, I ended the chat. I didn't answer the question when they asked where the credit card is issued and what my physical location is. I just ignored that question. Maybe they are onto this now, or maybe I just simply have to get another credit/debit card and try again.

So, what credit card/debit card do you guys recommend I get? I'm going to try one more time, but I think after that, I can't waste more time. It's been a solid 2 days I've been trying now and it's getting to be a huge waste of time. I wonder if payment would go through with Brazil. The same credit card worked fine with Argentina for 11 months or so, so not sure if that physical location thing the Netflix support person mentioned is valid?

          • @Ice009: I got the same response from Netflix as well. They didn't ask though where the card was issued. I may just stick with paying by gift cards going forwards :-(

            • @shertiger: What card did you try using? Did Netflix mention the physical location thing to you too, and also about our provider blocking the payment?

Also, what gift cards did you go with? This will be my last option as I'd rather pay by debit or credit card. I am assuming buying gift cards is going to cost a certain percentage through most credit cards for the currency conversion. Does it still end up being a good deal? I'm looking to get the premium/ultra plan this time so that I don't have to stuff around later with it. I was currently on the standard plan. What plan are you on?

              • @Ice009: I was using 28 degrees card. For gift card went with G2A.

          • @Ice009: My Citibank Debit worked perfectly. Or you can get the one from Transferwise as mentioned in one of the previous comments.

            • @hawkeye93: Thanks for the reply. I've just started looking at Transferwise earlier. Not sure how to do it though. I signed up already and put my physical location as Australia (not sure if I was supposed to do this?), and then when I logged in, it sent me straight to a payment page. I think clicked the user profile up top and it took me to the home page where there are options to 'send money', 'receive money' and 'get debit card'. I went into the get debit card option, but stopped there as I wasn't sure if I put my Australian details in and then later on change to a Turkish billing address as the previous user mentioned earlier in the thread?

The other thing is, I wonder if I have to start a new Netflix account (I don't want to as I want to keep all my watch history).

So you have now done the switchover yourself to Turkey? Where were you coming from before switching over? Australia, Argentina?

              • +1

@Ice009: U put in your real address to get the card delivered to your home. It can be changed to Turkish one later, I reckon.

No need to sign up a new account. I just finished the 2nd month with Argentina Netflix and as I was charged extra amount (due to that new tax), i moved to Turkey yesterday.

Initially had to use gift card to pay for the first 2.5 months.

Citibank did alert me regarding an unusual transaction, so I had to answer “Y” to their text before being able to add the debit card to my account via secured chat.

                • @hawkeye93: Hi, thanks again. Looks like Citibank isn't too bad. You think the same procedure used with my issued Westpac cards (debit or credit) would work? I'm wondering if trying the gift card first and then asking them to add a credit card later would work, but they already told me both those cards aren't going through, so not sure if the gift card would change anything?

As for Transferwise, wouldn't I have to put a Turkish address now so that I could do the payment to Netflix. I've signed up, but I haven't put through the request for the debit card yet. I don't really want to wait weeks for them to send out a card while leaving my residential address in there. I wanted to put the Turkish address in there to try and do the Netflix payment right away. Not sure if it will work with an Australian address?

  • I managed to open an account using Netflix Turkey Giftcard method by BlueDwarf - as 28 Degrees did not work.

But I forgot to add my mobile number in; does anyone has any experience whether putting an AU number will screw things up - in case it reverted to AUD afterwards?

    • I just added an AU mobile number to my Argentinian account prepping for my turkey swap tomorrow. worked fine

  • +1

Used the cancel immediately method with a transferwise card and works flawlessly.

    • What do you mean by this? Cancel immediately? I've ordered a Transferwise card, but haven't received it yet.

      • I think he’s talking about signing up to an Australian account with the TransferWise card and then cancelling the plan. Then you could try to start a plan using a VPN. As the card details are already on the account this MIGHT work.

        • Ahh right. Tell us how you go, Geez, if that is the route you're going to take/try.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive and then I'm going to try changing the billing address and then signing up again with my current account that was cancelled at the end of last month. I haven't had Netflix for about 10 days now, and I don't miss it that much so far. If the next couple of methods I try doesn't work, then they can miss out on my money. They can either have some money from me, or no money at all.

Do you guys think I should restart my account with a Turkish gift card and then try to add the Transferwise card after, or should I just start with the Transferwise card? I'm debating on which way to go. One of these two options is what I want to try.

I'm also going to try using my existing account which was originally opened/created as an Argentine account late last year, but I couldn't re-sign through Turkey with either of my issued Westpac cards when it elapsed at the end of last month.

          • @Ice009: It worked for me. Others’ mileage has varied

            • @Amaris: Hi, so that exact method worked for you? Cancelling the Australian plan and then turning on the VPN with the Transferwise card details already saved into the system?

              • @Ice009: Yes. I cancelled on the accounts page and then asked for a refund on chat which cancelled the plan immediately.
A day later I went through Windscribe and subscribed to a Turkish plan. Worked for me and at least one other perso. Hasn’t worked for some from what I can see

                • @Amaris: Hi, thanks for the info. How long did you leave it active before asking for the refund? As in, how long were you into the month of the Australian account before cancelling it?

                  • @Ice009: less than a day

                  • @Ice009: how did you go? having trouble changing from arg to turkey myself

                    • @SgtBatten: Ended up reactivating as an Aussie account with transferwise card and asking support to cancel/refund me. a few hours later reactivation worked in turkey using getflix vpn

                      • @SgtBatten: Hi SgtBatten, no, I still haven't gotten it working at all. I ordered a Transferwise card and am still waiting to get it. Did you leave an Australian address for you Transferwise card when doing the payment?

Also, when you cancelled the Australian Netflix payment and asked for refund, did you just simply try to re-sign with the Transferwise card and VPN set to Turkey and it went through? Did you have to re-enter the card details or where they still saved under the Australian account?

                        • @Ice009: I previously had an Argentinian account using 28 degrees.
I cancelled it myself and waiting til the expiry of my final month. When trying to reactivate using the Turkish VPN my 28 degrees card details were already there but it was failing. I also tried changing the cars to my transferwise card but it also failed.

I changed my transferwise account to a Turkish address at some point also.

I turned off the VPN and reactivated it with Aussie billing using the transferwise card. Immediately got on live chat and asked to cancel/refund.

Couple hours later a signed up using the Turkish VPN again. This time confirming the cars details worked. It asked me to confirm my mobile number also. It actually listed my Aussie number but I didn't risk it and saw that I'd actually already been charged so ignored it and closed the page.

                          • @SgtBatten: Hi, thank you very much for the reply. I actually tried using the Transferwise card/number last night (even though I don't have the card yet I saw on the Transferwise site you can start using it if you top up some money into your account. Does anyone know if this is correct?).

Anyway, I also changed the billing details to a Turkish address and this time I go farther than I have before, but it asked for a Turkish phone number verification, so I was stuck and didn't know what to do. I tried it a few times and same result (kept asking for a Turkish number verification). I have my Australian number saved, so that didn't work. I then changed my address back to my Australian address and I couldn't get to the Turkish number verification stage again, so yeah, looks like I need to leave a Turkish address there for the Tranferwise card.

Do you guys think I should try one of the SMS services. Not sure if I want to waste $5.50USD if something like SMS Autofications doesn't work.

I will try your method at some point, though. And yeah, looks like you changing to a Turkish address might have made a difference. When you changed to a Turkish address on the card, was that before you signed up for the Aussie account, or after you cancelled it?

                            • @Ice009: It was already the Turkish address before reactivated the Aussie account, so it didn't affect that process.

  • I've been using the Turkish netflix for about a year in Aus now, my payment (Citibank) details lapsed and I've been trying to update it with the new expiry but it keeps coming up with a "Sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again later" error message. Tried it with several different cards and under the Turkish VPN too but no luck. Tried to live chat but they were asking about my location + location of account creation (not sure if they would do anything but I didnt proceed), anyone got any advice?

    • +1

Try again with a different staff. They shouldn't ask those questions. Just tell them you need to update payment details and request a secured form. Sometimes they (inexperienced guys) don't even know about it.

By the way, I also used a Citibank debit card so the 1st time it may not go through as the card is blocked. Just confirm the Citibank's text message and repeat the step above. It should be done successfully.

      • appreciate the reply, seems like a pretty common problem.

        • The same message pops up for me when trying to switch over from Argentina to Turkey, but the difference is, I never was signed up to the Turkish account to start with like you were. They also asked me in the live chat if I was using a card from the same location, but I never answered that question. I just kept ignoring it.

Did you get it sorted, now? If so, what did you do?

To Hawkeye93, what exactly is a secured form? They never gave me one. I did ask, but they also asked me for the last 4 digits of my credit/debit card and when I told them, they never gave me the form, they said that the card has already been declined.

I just tried to go into chat again, right now, and ask for a secured form. They will not give me one.He asked if I wanted to reactive my account and then sent me an email with a link to reactive my account. I'm really getting sick of these guys. Can I only ask for a secured form if I have a credit card already saved?

          • @Ice009: Got it all sorted out through the live chat. I asked them for the secured form in the chat, as Hawkeye93 suggested and it updated.

            • @lc6816: Yeah, and in my case, it wasn’t done until the 3rd guy.

          • @Ice009: Like I said, some of them are just inexperienced so they don’t even know how to give you the form. Try again with another guy.

            • @hawkeye93: Do I need to already have a credit/debit card number on file when asking for the secured form? Do you know if that is important?

It seems that they just see the account cancelled and want me to re-sign through the restart membership process.

I'll try again and ask for a secured form.

              • @Ice009: You can try the other method:

                1) sign up for Australia package using your card. Then contact the support team to cancel immediately. They will refund you.

                2) now you’ve already had a card on file. Just use VPN and sign up for Turkish one.

You already removed the current card? That maybe the problem.

                • @hawkeye93: Yeah, I've already removed my australian credit card that I had on file. This is what they said to me a few minutes ago :

Got the account here and since account is cancelled and you are not restarting the account here, you cannot update the card unless you will restart the membership.
When you restart the account, you will be asked to edit the payment method and will be charged upon restart.

Looks like taking my previous card off file has screwed me over. I'll try again tonight as I'm late for work. I'll try what you said either tonight or tomorrow.

Do you get a full refund if you cancel immediately? If so, what do I say? I made a mistake and want to cancel.

Also, when signing up via Australia, should I use my previous Westpac card, or just the transferwise card with the Turkish address? Not sure if the Turkish address will work when signing up via Australia, or if I should change it back to Aussie address before signing up to Australian account? What do you suggest? All good if it doesn't work, just wondering what you think?

                  • @Ice009: Well, even when you didn't remove the card, you may not be able to sign up for the Turkish one. That's my case. Unfortunately, had to get it done by removing it first and adding it back later.

You can use the Transferwise with Australian address. After getting the refund, change it to Turkish address and sign up.

      • After I set it up first time successfully, can I change the billing address on my Citibank card back to an Australian address?

  • Both my Transferwise and 28 degrees cards are showing "There was an error processing your payment information. Please check that all fields are filled out correctly and try again."

I previously had an Argentinian account. expired yesterday, phone number and debit card details were already saved

  • For some reason it shows USD price for me either using Argentine IP or Turkish IP, anyone else has the same issue?

    • +1

I think some VPNs (for whatever reason) have this "issue".

Firstly, check using ipleak or an alternative IP address website that you are correctly being detected in your desired country. If you're not, then that's already a problem. If you are, but Netflix keeps showing you US pricing, it is probably cause Netflix has already picked up your supposed Turkish/Argentinian IP as being from a VPN.

      Solution? Use a different VPN

      • Yeah its probably because of nordvpn. I'll try other, thanks!

        • Windscribe or UrbanVPN worked for me. Don’t forget to cancel trial subscription.

        • I had the same problem with ExpressVPN. Just used a trial of Windscribe to get Turkey working.

          • @daanish: Were you able to pay with your credit card?

            • +1

@surm: I had a Bankwest Platinum CC saved to my account and it worked on Argentina but was rejected for Turkey. I had to swap over to a Macquarie Debit card which worked without issue.

            • +1

@surm: I just contacted the Netflix Live Chat and asked them about updating my card information. Got them to send the live form as has been mentioned multiple times in this thread and they were able to update it back to my Bankwest CC so I'm back to paying with a credit card now.

              • @daanish: Did you contact netflix when connected to the VPN?

                • +1

@surm: You don’t have to turn it on.

                  • @hawkeye93: While on Hola VPN (IP location: Turkey), I tried with Bankwest, TransferWise and 28 Degrees. All 3 cards gave the same generic error something like "An error occurred".

Then I tured off Hola VPN and was able to pay with TransferWise (Australian price) which means they did not want to accept my credit cards for a Turkey netflix subscription

                    • @surm: I can't even pay with my Transferwise card for an Australian account.

I also tried opening a new account with a Turkish address listed under my Transferwise account, but I keep getting stuck on the Turkish phone number verification screen. Not sure if I should try spending $5.50USD and try something like Autofications to get the SMS sent to a Turkish number.

Anyone here tried verifying SMS with Autofications Turkish phone number/sms?

                  • @hawkeye93: But that wasn't his question..

                • +2

@surm: No I didn't have my VPN turned on. When they asked where I was located I just gave a non answer and said I was overseas from home at the moment.
