I think same graphics, just software titles exclusives.

    • +3

Performance wise yes, and game pass is great value.

      • +1

I think what Sony did really well is to trick people into thinking two consoles have similar spec and performance.

        • I mean it’s not too far behind. And most cross platform games will be similarly optimised. Sony is really pushing for all ps4 users to upgrade straight away while Microsoft is anticipating users to upgrade their systems over time

    • Performance yes but cant say for sure until we get benchmarks on games, on paper XBSX looks good with the specs but we don't know what PS5s "In house drive" capable of. But my prediction, graphical quality XBSX wins, PS5 loading times wins.

I for one didnt go with Xbox this time since I have PC and can play Xbox Games on it. PS5 would be my first

      • Xbox x only, as S is not in the same league.

        • +1

isnt it called Xbox Series X? hence XBSX? I didnt specify XBSS (Xbox Series S) This naming convention from microsoft is really getting retarded

          • @Nullefied: Think they just wanted to sneak "BS" through quality control :p

    • Depends on what kind of games you play.

    • No! m$ never ever made quality games like Sony/Nintendo. PERIOD

      • Opinions are subjective. But you're entitled to your wrong opinion.

I couldn't imagine being as much of a fanboy as you. You've negged all the XSX deals, and voted positive on the PS5 deal lol.

You do realise people can enjoy both machines?

People like you are Sony's and MS's favourite customers.

  • +1

Are you better off buying a Xbox Series X outright or getting the Xbox Series X subscription with telstra?

    • If you’re getting game pass then the subscription. If not, outright.

    • Am I eligible to pre-order Xbox All Access with Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S?
You will be able to pre-order Xbox All Access if:
You already have a month-to-month mobile or fixed broadband plan.
You take up a new month-to-month mobile or fixed broadband plan.
(New customers must take up the new plan first. Then pre-order Xbox All Access.) Small business and pre-paid customers are not eligible.

Plus not really worth it considering you are paying "full" price for the Ultimate subscription.

  • -6

Why would anyone actually buy this over a ps5.

    • +7

Already in this environments, better specs, totally backward compatible, better store, MS games on gamepass as well as Xbox.

    • +13

Microsoft has purchased Bethesda would be 1 reason.

      • That 1 reason is that they can?

      • -3

        Too bad Bethesda games suck

        • +6

You play with Lego so not sure your opinion matters

          • +4

@Jamiea: Lol, Somebody call the burn ward.

        • +5

Maybe fallout has gone off the wrong path I'd agree, but Doom, Wolfenstein, Elder Scrolls, Dishonored , Prey and Evil Within have been pretty great

      • -3

That doesn't mean all Bethesda games will be Xbox exclusives. They still need Bethesda to be profitable. Locking on to Xbox would be bad financially esp because hardly anyone buys an Xbox.

    • +1

True, Xbox game pass is pretty good for what you're getting.

    • -1

Why would anyone buy a ps5 over this? It has no games https://vocaroo.com/TWaMAMfGZiV

      • Did you not see the news late last night?

        • The news that MS bought Bethesda? Yes, ps5 has even less games now.

          • @Jamiea: Ah sorry, read it as why would anyone buy this over a PS5!

It does have Horizon Zero Dawn series which I love. And Uncharted and TLOU…. and that's what I will eventually get one for.

    • +8

      Personally:

I prefer the Xbox controller. All existing accessories will work on the new console.

Last gen Xbox One X was the best console for multi platform games. Most my library is on Xboxand will play day one.

      Game pass is insane value

I buy both anyway. I pre-ordered PS5. But cancelled deciding I can wait for it to drop in price for the reasons above.

But worried I won't get a Series X though. I got 2x S consoles a gifts for my kids. Stupidly thinking I could easily get an X for myself from another retailer… Now its looking like i will jump on any deali can get rather than expecting an Amazon deal like PS5 had.

      • +1

Surprised you didn't just onsell the PS5 preorder but good on you for cancelling so someone else can get it!

On another note, I agree with your logic and that's why even though I'll probably end up with both consoles, I went for Xbox Series X first since it's a clear pathway to make the most of all my existing games/accessories, use my Game Pass Ultimate, and just get the most out of it… only thing which worries me is none of the launch titles are particularly attractive so I'm really doing this just to lock in my changeover price.

        • +2

I love a bargain. But never been one to try to profit of others. Never crossed my mind.

Hopefully someone getting it for a kid for xmas gets it. And not someone trying to profit from it.

    • Bigger hard drive

    • Could mean games like Elder scrolls, fall out etc could eventually become exclusive for xbox or free with ultimate game pass

    • More powerful.
      Better controller
      Game Pass

    • -1

Abnormal person alert. Lol. Gtfo shithole.

    • Gamepass is the word

  • +1

why is this (and all other XBSX preorder post) considered a deal??

    • +2

Some are less then RRP, others are just RRP, given they are hard to find and the $ they are showing up on eBay for at the moment, RRP is actually a good price.

      • Look, that is floored logic. The only reason you'd pay a scalper or spend more than (or ozb equal to) rrp is to play at launch. These things will be everywhere a month after launch date, it's a mass market commodity, any element of scarcity is manufactured in peoples minds.

        • *flawed logic
Disagree with your comment on availability. People want an Xbox Series S/X under the Christmas tree, and some willing to pay a premium for it.

          • +1

@eggaz: Console comes out on 10 Nov, people will have 1.5 months to source one before Christmas. I'd be surprised if it's all that difficult to get one for under the tree. I also question the sanity of a $750 Christmas present but who am I to judge. The logic that you're somehow missing out if you don't get one at launch is antithetical to the notion of a bargain and more akin to rabid consumerism.

            • @tedzr: Comes out Nov. 10 and basically sold out until next year…..same as the PS5

  • I’m fingers crossed there won’t be a cancellation email

    • When did you get it? I’m scared of the same.

    • -1

Amazingly just logged in mine to check status and it has now changed from 'Processing Order' to 'Error'. FML.

  • Has Amazon had their drop yet?

    • +1

      Nope

      • How do we find where it will land there?

        • You won't amazon are very secret

          • @brando12: Is it certain? Apparently they had it listed then removed the listing so there may not be any?

            • @MelonLemon: Just keep refreshing amazon change the link to stop bots

            • @MelonLemon: They would of had it listed, than realised that'll make it easier for scripts to purchase.

They'll drop them at some point today/tomorrow.

    • I'm waiting for that too

  • Anyone know if target is going to have stock? or have they already sold out too

    • I don't think they've dropped their stock yet.

  • And you wonder where people are putting their jobkeeper/jobseeker payments to.
Every Xbox and PS5 console has been sold out of every shop from a pre-order, despite the consoles costing upwards of $700

    • +10

I don't wonder or care. I'd rather my tax go to people of the country, than terrible politicians who don't give a shit about us.

      • -1

I'd rather my tax go to people of the country, than terrible politicians

If you want to delve into where your tax money goes, the actual tax money is essentially going to Sony and Microsoft, both of which have nothing to do with Australia, but yeah.

        • +5

Oh apologies. I forgot about political correctness. Let me rephrase.

I'd rather people of Australia be able to buy themselves a luxury item once in awhile, whilst still being able to pay their rent/mortgage and keep food on the table for themselves/their families, rather than our politicians buy their 4th holiday home.

          There ya go champ.

          • -1

@Frayin: how are you going to make sure your money does that again?

            • +2

@frostman: Never said I would? I was saying where I'd rather my money went.

              You're strange.

    • +4

You really think anyone on those payments has the cash for these things after paying their bills, groceries and rent/mortgage?

      • +4

haven't you heard? Mortgage repayments are now optional - just pause them due to COVID & ignore the banks attempts to call you to confirm /s

        • Pause Mortgage repayments, go out and get a $750 console + Games + Controller = $1,000+

    • Why shouldn't people on job keeper be able to spend money on things they want? They are working and contributing to society, paying taxes. It's a pretty condescending comment to make Frostman.

      • -1

Why shouldn't people on job keeper be able to spend money on things they want?

This wasn't the aim for the post…the context is that we're bombarded on news around the recession the country is in, the poor economy, the poor business struggling and the people queuing at Centrelink for job loss…yet the Nation has easily wiped the pre-order stock of video game consoles, so you wonder what's going on.

        • +2

I have to sit at home waiting for Victoria to open back up and do something in the day….

        • The problem is you listen to news

        • +2

Spending money on things you don't actually need is the best way to save the economy and get everyone out of the jobless situation.

          • @KLDL: And you think a total sell-out of Gaming Consoles is going to improve a jobless situation, bah

    • +1

which is good for the economy…

      • of wherever these are made.

Like just about everything else we buy these days. Thank goodness for iron and coal so we can afford imports.

  • -2

So glad i won't be buying the new gamecube this thing is u g l y.

  • How many games does it include for this price? Must be a bundle surely…

    • It will include around 0 games. Just getting your hands one one, and not having to waste time scouring for one is the bargain atm.

    • The ps2 also had an rrp of $750, and didn't have this kind of demand.

These consoles aren't expensive, they could be charging more

      • +1

Ah yes, you're right. Wow, $750 was insane money 20 years ago. Then it dropped to $500 a year later. The reason, of course, that it was so expensive was because it had a built-in DVD player. These were still expensive at the time (I paid $500 for a Sony player in late 2000). As such, $750 was actually decent value for money as it was basically 2 products combined. I remember it sold reasonably well because everybody wanted a DVD player back then. I think some people even bought it primarily for that reason, and the fact it had gaming capability was just a bonus!

Also, Sony were able to charge that much because there was basically no competition. Both Xbox and GameCube were well over a year away. The only rival was the nearly 4 year old N64!

        • You can say the PS2 sold for around $1,000 in today's economy, wow.

I loved the N64 but even games during that early generation lacked graphics quality (not that Nintendo was trying to win on gfx anyway)

          • @frostman: Ironically, we only got to the N64's solid state speed with the introduction of SSDs. PC's with hard drives 10 years ago were still slower at loading games than an N64.

          • @frostman: I don't know about the PS2, but the original 60GB PS3 definitely retailed for $999 at release because i remember it. And $999 in those days was a damn lot of money. Consoles now are cheaper than those days. Getting it good now.

            • @hollykryten: Cos they Makes so much more money from digital sales and micro transactions

      • The playstation 1 was $699 and didn't have a DVD player to offset the cost. Also almost every game was around $90 to $100.

  • Is really the only way sitting on amazon and refreshing all day…

    • If you're seeking a day one console, it looks like it.

    • Is there any time to open the pre order through Amazon?

      • yeh, amazon opening up pre-orders sometime between now and nov10th. keep f5ing.

      • None officially.

They took down their listing for the Xbox this morning as well.

        • They made a tweet an hour ago saying, "All details about this release including available inventory will be on the item’s page once it is added. We don’t have any other updates at this time."

          • @LINKx12: Atleast I am home now and can focus my attention on trying to score a Series X console. At work I couldn't check often enough… despite barely putting any attention into my job as i was refreshing a bunch of different sites on my phone every 10 or 15 minutes.

The EBGames website kept coming up for errors for me at work trying to order one, and is doing the same now on my laptop at home.

            • +1

@mxlegend99: yeah thats me at the moment, job no important… only games

              • @LINKx12: If we get these ordered today. We can be twice as productive tomorrow with how happy we are about our new consoles.

Nah… I wouldn't want to set too high of a bar for productivity.

          • -1

            @LINKx12: Link?

  • .wrong thread.

  • +1

Damn i thought we were in recession and a $750 console is selling out like hot cakes.

    • +2

People aren't going on holidays. Money gotta go somewhere.

  • Some people can be really crazy

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z8IUfufVwVxi5Ar1wzldKhVg0Jb…

We'll enjoy Christmas everyone, probably the worst in the last 50 to 100 years…

    • Wouldn't be overly surprised if staff (store mangers) some how were able to allocate themselves stock, to scalp.

I doubt it, but i don't know their back end system.
