  • Do you ship to WA?

  • You should put the postage and No WA in the title. Thanks

    • I'll pop it in now! :) Thanks.

  • Do you send to TAS?

    • We are based in Hobart :)

      • You have a nice seed business.

  • +1

Do you have garlic cloves maybe around in autumn?

    • No sorry we don't!

  • Hi, sorry I'm new to gardening but am planning to start a veggie garden soon. How long do the seeds last? (E.g. do they have an expiry). Could I store the seeds for a few years?

    • +1

Storing for years will have a negative impact on germination.

      • +2

seeds generally stay dormant pretty well for a few years at least, provided you keep them dry and dark. Tomato seeds are tough, I still got them popping up here and there surviving the compost

    • +1

Yes, they will be fine to be store for a few year. Just keep them in a airtight bag, away from light and dry :)

      • +2

I vacuum seal mine. Some of my pumpkin seeds are 3 years old and still ok.

        ymmv

  • Pretty expensive. Packet of seeds normally $1-2 each with $2-3 postage total.

Like a true ozbarginer I just seed tomatos that I use in winter, dry and plant those in spring

    • Ha, that's great! :)

    • +1

I suppose seeds are for the first timers or those who want to plant varieties other than what they normally eat.

But yeah, save the seeds from what you buy/grow and just throw them in the garden at the end of winter.

  • +1

I planted my tomato seeds in trays today (Tassie), bit late due to being away for a couple of weeks… I ended up using a mix of very-old 1999 and 2010 seed because I haven't had a chance to buy new ones, lol, fingers crossed.

    • +1

I'm sure they will be fine! :)

  • My tomatoes never seem to fuit..

    • +2

Gotta wait for the next full moon

      • +1

Yes, that's when you have to sacrifice a virgin and eat the eyes of a newt.

    • Watch the fertiliser you use, if you use high nitrogen you promote leaves growth and no flowers

  • Which variety is the easiest to grow in VIC? Do anyone of them give yields year round?

    • +1

All the varieties in the pack will go well in VIC. Plant in Spring and harvest in Summer/ Autumn… none will give yields all year round :)

    • +1

Which variety is the easiest to grow in VIC?

It's too late in the season for tomato seeds in VIC, best to get seedlings and plant over the next 4 weeks.

      • +1

        True.

      • +1

Not if you're growing cherry tomato varieties 👍

        • I usually grow cherry's as the kids like them the most, also packed full of flavour.

          • @Flattop:

            I usually grow cherry's

            That's very possessive of you…

            • @jv: Well wouldn’t you?

    • Do anyone of them give yields year round?

If you have a good greenhouse, you might be able to extend the season by a few months.

  • I used to grow tomatoes but they kept getting eaten by hornworms and during that time I never had a fully grown tomato fruit. Now I never grow tomatoes again.

  • Seed collection is cheaper. $1-2 per packet plus free shipping over $20 spend or a few dollars under that

  • These are beautiful looking heirloom tomatoes that'll taste much better than store bought, if you'd care to get your thumbs dirty.

    • Very true!! Store bought ones taste like nothing!!!

  • Do you know if the Momotaro aka Tough Boy variety is available in Australia?

    • I don't know sorry!

  • Hi.

Where do your seeds come from?

    Thanks.

    • We source our seeds from varies growers in Australia :)

      • From Australia? Do you mean Tasmania?

        • +1

Some of our seeds from Tas and NSW

  • How long should they take to be delivered to vic?

    • "We’ve accepted your order, and we’re getting it ready. Come back to this page for updates on your shipment status."

pretty disappointing, ordered 12 days ago (1/10) and still not shipped?

      • ahh, ok your website just doesn't update top say its shipped… typical, arrived 2 hours after posting the above!

seems pretty reasonable to arrive in that time given Covid is slowing us down here in melbourne.

        • Hi there, i'm sorry you didn't receive an email to say your order had been shipped. Maybe it went to spam? as our system sends an email once the order is fufilled. We try to ship with 1-3 days of the order being placed. You received yours ok then, postage is VERY slow to VIC atm. A lot of customers have been opting for the express post. Thank you for your order, Bec

          • @VeggieGardenSeeds: thanks,

I did have received something, however, when i click on the link in the email "A shipment from order #1XXX is on the way" that takes me to your site, it just gives me the above message (about saying you have accepted my order and getting it ready. (Not that it is shipped.)) maybe you need to update the order on the website to say its been shipped as well?

            • +1

@wisc: I'll look into this. Others have received Shipment Emails and I haven't had this problem before, maybe this depends on if you chose tracking or not? Anyway. Thanks for the feedback and i'm glad your seeds arrived with not too much of a delay considering the worlds current state! Regards, Bec
