Doesn't appear to mention uni teachers/tutors. So I would say no

  • Just a pity it doesn't apply to other staff inside the schools. I work as IT Tech in a few schools. Would have been nice to get recognized also but glad Teachers are at least.

    • +5

Let's be honest, 21k tickets for all teachers world wide. Got a better chance at scoring an eBay Plus deal that hasn't been price jacked.

      • That's try. Just nice to be recognized somewhere ;) Even if just a thanks in writing by some airline

      • Great comparison!

      • Scored tickets when they offered it for Healthcare workers last time.

        Believe in your chances!

      • +2

I think this is way better odds than Ebay plus

  • So how does it work? They are giving out the promo code at 12pm?

  • What about university lecturers?

    • They chose to call themselves lecturers not university teachers, so tough sh*t.

  • +1

Should this be labeled as TARGETED?

    • No because it is not only available by unique code delivered only to you. Competition maybe.

  • Why bother with this? International travel won't return for a long time.

    • +2

Because it will return in 2021

      • -1

Speculation. It's stupid to book any trip based on the assumption that it will return by a specific date.

        • +2

They’ll extend booking and flight periods as they did for the healthcare worker offer.

        • i'd still book any trip which is FREE and dates can be changed

    • +1

Qatar will honour the flight regardless of country flight restrictions and extend the offer as they did for the offer for healthcare workers.

  • +1

It's annoying that you need to book by the 1st of November but cool initiative.

  • Pity the ticket can't be for 2022

    • May not be any different to 2020.

  • +17

When I saw this I thought this was a really nice thing for teachers who often get overlooked, I didn't think oh, what about me, why didn't my profession get this deal !!!!!. What is wrong with all these ppl here, can't you just be happy for others sometimes?

    • EXACTLY, shouldn't everyone be doing something productive on their day off (me included) instead of having a go at teachers?

  • Would be great if the complimentary ticket seat is upgradable with points?!

    • +3

I think because there's a perceived risk in business and the government have been giving out grants along with jobkeeper. Imagine if the stock market had stayed low, would investors deserve a break too?

            • +2

@ShipShapeRC: 40% tax 10yr teachers earn $5.6k net. Is that a lot for a family? Not really. Hmmm hrs p/w.. lets see, gets to work 7.45am and leaves around 5 most days. Break times usually have yard duties or some co-curricular. Eat on the go. After school co curricular at least once a week and saturday sports. On top of that, probably an additional 10-15hr each week working at night for planning as they barely give teachers any Non contact time.

Assessments and reporting twice a year is the busiest period, expect to work till midnight most nights for 2-3 weeks inc most weekends.

But still extremely grateful to have a job which he loves doing. It's all about the students. It's intrinsically a very rewarding job. Making a positive difference in any way possible.

Personally, I could never be a classroom teacher. They're amazing.

  • Allocation open but is already exhausted or does it refresh at 12? My passport is expired so I can't even enter the correct date on it. Lol.

    • Nah missed out after about 1 minute.

      • Wrong. Missed it after 5seconds.

    • +1

Nope, but I'm glad to know somebody actually did! Will have to try again tomorrow.

  • The daily promo code limit for your country has already been reached. The allocation is refreshed daily at 4 a.m. Qatar time (GMT+3) until 7 October 2020.

  • +1

missed it too. Not sure what the daily allocation is for Aus. Can't be much

  • Didn't work for me, all allocated - is there a way to autofill the form for tomorrow?

    • +1

I had everything ready to go and clicked the 'I'm not a a robot thing just before 12'. As it ticked over, pressed submit and I think i may have been very lucky.

      • +1

May I kindly ask how did you pre fill the form if it wasn’t available until exactly at 12?

        • +3

As I've said in other posts, I just clicked the link and the form was already able to be filled in, and it still works now. I'm using Chrome if that helps.

  • 12:00pm open….12.03 all gone…

    • I got mine in before 12:01 and it was already gone haha

  • wow! that went quick

  • -2

    bloody vultures, gone already

  • So, the question is…did anyone get lucky enough and get a code?

  • +4

Long time browser, and have snagged plenty of deals thanks to OB. Pretty sure I got this deal too, pre filled the form and pressed submit right on 12. It's going to be a long 48 hours waiting for the code.

OP, if I get this and if you're in Melbourne, I owe you a drink of your choice!

    • How did you pre fill the form if there was no form showing before the 12pm?

    • +2

Nice one.👌 May I ask how you got to pre fill the form before 12? For me the form kicked in exactly at 12 so was only able to fill in the form at that time.

      • +2

I just clicked the link and the form was already able to be filled in, and it still works now. I'm using Chrome if that helps.

        • Did you submit the form instantaneously after filling it out?
Or did you wait til the 12?

    • +1

That'll be a tot of Macallan Fine and Rare then, if you please.

    • +2

I'm also curious how you had it all pre-filled when it didn't appear until 12pm and didn't know what the questions would be. I was rushing around finding my passport number, expiry etc haha. Could you possibly please msg me with some help? Would be much appreciated for tomorrow!

      • Actually, I refreshed at 11:58am and it was showing a form. Maybe the mistake was not submitting it on 12…might have submitted it before, showing allocation was already done before it refreshed..

      • +2

Hahahaha sounds like me…running around the house like a headless chicken to find the passport hahahaha

      • +1

As I said above, I just clicked the link and the form was already able to be filled in, and it still works now. I'm using Chrome if that helps. I have a screenshot of the questions but can't insert the image here.

        • +1

Thank you. I’m keeping today’s form open for tomorrow, maybe with some luck I will be able to get through.

          • +1

@Pika79: I think everyone is going to be doing that.

            Chances have gone even slimmer!

    • Did you get the email yet? Starting to get worried…

  • Damn I was waiting til 12 but it's Queensland!
Missed out on today but looks like registration refreshes every day at 4AM Qatar time, so set your clocks tomorrow!

  • And let that be a lesson to you all.

  • +1

Such a shame non-school based teachers aren’t recognised

  • Daily allocation reached for Aus… gutted.
