    That’s A$200 before shipping

    • That’s a C64

      • I know, but I want THE VIC-20. Also full size, not the mini.

        • @misplaced did you end up getting one?

what's inside? is it actually a 6502 or is it emulated?

    • ARM processor with Emulation, I think.

      is it actually a 6502

While enhanced versions of the 6502 and 6522 are still available to purchase, the other special chip in the VIC-20 (the 6560/6561 Video Interface Chip) is not. The design of that chip was owned by Commodore at the time of their collapse, and apparently was not licensed out.

So any VIC-20 re-creations must be emulated for that chip, so it makes sense to also emulate the 6502 and 6522.

Looks like a VIC-20 colored version of last years C64. The C64 had a "Featuring three switchable modes – C64, VIC 20, and Games Carousel."

It should be available from EB and other retailers in OZ like the C64 was:
    https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/c64/254494-the-c64-full-s…
    https://www.gamesmen.com.au/the-c64-full-sized-console

If you want a bit of history then this is NOT for you as it does NOT have a 6502C or 65C10 or VIA or any other MOS technology IC's as its an ARM CPU running a Commodore VIC20/C64 emulator. Check out the following to see the differences:

    BTW:
    a) I could not find any C64 full size versions in any of the major retail stores and the only ones are on ebay and gumtree.
    b) You can do the same thing with a Playstation Classic or a Raspberry PI or a PC with an arcade joystick that can be purchased on ebay or you can make it yourself.

  • Received the following response from RetroGames:

"Hi sadly its currently only for sale in the EU and no retailers in your region has shown interest in stocking it

    Thanks for your support"

  • Someone on the VIC-20 Facebook Groups is looking into the possibility of importing THE VIC20 into Australia. Will post more information here if I am able to obtain it.
