  • I managed to get onto this deal as my internet banking was still active even though I haven't had an active Westpac account since early last year… so you could always try your old internet banking login and see if that still works?

  • I was charged a $99 annual fee. Called up and advised how I found the deal for exisiting customers. Good news is they’re going to refund it.

  • It was a bit of a hassle setting up the choice transaction account (had to go into a branch to verify ID since I had a old westpac account with different details) but once that was all sorted, the credit card was approved within a few hours after submitting some payslips

Waiting to get the physical card in the mail until I start using it though

  • Did Westpac call anyone to verify details? What sort of questions do they ask? I have already uploaded payslips.

To help us finalise things, we need to verify some details with you.
If you haven’t already done so, please verify your information now.
In addition to completing the next steps below, one of our team will be calling you in the next 1-2 working days?

Offer is still valid, just signed up. I find it better than the ANZ deal, especially when considering the customer service from ANZ

    • i concur
approval within 1 business day and digital card instantly available via the app
now to see how long they take to issue the points - that's why we are here afterall

      • I was conditionally approved, just submitted payslips.
        Hopefully the card comes soon

  • Okay, just called up the Customer Service Representative and they said the $3000 required is only for purchases. So I guess when it comes to bills it won't count towards the bonus points. Luckily I have just less than a month left.

  • I signed up for this but seem to be earning Altitude points rather than Qantas points. I remember specifically selecting the Qantas card / entering my FF details.

Has this happened to anyone else?

    • +1

That's very strange, the altitude card was a completely different application. What did the approval email, texts and paperwork that arrived with the card say?

      • Everything refers to "Welcome to your Altitude Platinum Mastercard" and when i click through the "more info about your card" in the welcome emails, it takes me to the generic info that applies to Rewards/Qantas/Velocity (https://www.westpac.com.au/personal-banking/credit-cards/rew…)

        I ditched the original paperwork…

I will give them a call, as if I have accidentally signed up for the wrong one, I should at least have gotten the 100k Altitude point bonus points as I followed the existing member process.

  • i have spent 7k witnin 3 month, just realise that I am not eligible for the bonus points……..what a bummer

    • Why are you not eligible?

    • +1

      Please explain?

      • Probably had a card in the last 12 months

  • Manged to get this deal by logging in using my customer ID from my old 'Ignite' credit card I closed 10 years ago. (lucky I keep all my old paperwork)

My application was initially declined - possibly because the name on the account was under my shortened name (eg. 'Greg' rather than 'Gregory'), and they couldn't match it to my credit file (?).
I called up and explained to a customer rep, and they resubmitted the application, and was approved.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot when the offer was 75k velocity points?

Someone posted a screenshot when it was 75k Qantas, but soon after this they updated it to 75k Qantas OR Velocity. Only got 60k velocity.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of the $0 first year fee? Westpac has charged me $99 and refuses to refund it.

    • That’s annoying, I got mine refunded weeks ago but still waiting on my bonus points.

      • Lucky you. Did they acknowledge the promotion though?

        • Yeah I did but only verbally and that was about a month ago. Keep pushing I reckon you can get it and tell them that other customers have had it refunded.

      Taken in February
      Good luck!

      • Appreciate it!!

Anyone get paid the bonus points twice ?

I got the 75k bonus points in feb and noticed i got them again in june (obviously an error by them) - can they take the points back ?

    • +1

Same thing happened to me. I just assumed there was another promotion that I was eligible for. Already cashed mine in, so I guess we'll see if there's any repercussions

      • Shhh please nobody call and tell them.

        • The same thing happened to me but only 60k. Was scared that the first year was up and I had paid an annual fee. Still a while to go, fortunately.. Lucky us!

  • reaching out if anyone keep a screenshot for this deal? I've only get 80K, need to send them screenshot for them to proof

    • there's one above, DM me if you want another one. I have the same issue, got 80k only, raised this with them, waiting for them to come back to me now to request a screenshot.

      • Thank mate. I think i can use that screenshot from above. Have you send them the screenshot? They did provide somewhere to upload or reply back to their support email?

        • +1

they didn't bother to reply after 2 business days. I called them, they created a new ticket and told me their "resolution team" will get back to me within 5 business days, and that's good that I have a screenshot.

  • If you purchase a big ticket item and cancel or close the card after collecting the points, can you still be protected by the purchase protection complimentary insurance?

    • +1

lol, are you serious? You've cleaned your hands with them by cancel the card and you expecting they still protect your purchases later?

Like you cancelled your car insurance yesterday and get into accident today, would you ring them (ex-insurer) up and lodge the claim ?

      • Why not. I have read the pds it doesn't say no. Anything purchased with the card is entitle insurance that comes with it. I have claimed accidental damage before and they never asked if the card is still active or not. Maybe they check in the background.
