Free McCain Pub Style Extra Crispy Chips by Uploading Photo of Chips @ McCain (Redeemable @ Woolworths)

5644

I was able to get a barcode to claim a packet of chips at any Woolworths store (except for Woolworths Online, MetroGo, and Metro stores) between 21st October, 2020 and closing time on 3rd November, 2020.

Right now freezers all over Australia contain dangerously bland chips, just waiting to ruin your dinner. These pale and soggy imitations are giving good chips like ours a bad name.

So for the sake of your meal, we urge you to stop consuming these inferior chips immediately and we'll provide you a bag of deliciously crisp McCain Pub Style Extra Crispy Chips instead.

SAY NO TO BAD CHIPS, SAY YES TO MCCAIN PUB STYLE.

Upload a photo of some bland chips you've made and your details below to claim your free McCain Pub Style Extra Crispy Chips.

Be quick! Only 10,000 vouchers available. Voucher valid from 21st October, 2020 until 3rd November, 2020.

So if you have multiple vouchers, do you just go to self service checkout and put them through all in 1 transaction? or do you need to separate the transactions to 1 per transaction?

    • -2

Would like to know this too

    • +1

      The later

  • +5

    Uploaded photo of casino chips.

  • +1

Uploaded a photo of my dog. Chips obtained.

    • Is his/her name Chips by any chance?

  • +7

How many of you agree this would be 'Out of Stock' at most Woolies starting tomorrow?

    Retail variant of OzBargain'd.

    • I mean the beer batter are 50% already so I think it would be expected. Probably short life products and using a campaign to get rid of stock looking at it now.

      • +2

I don't think so. They've had a pretty massive online marketing campaign advertising these Pub Style chips. On Foxtel almost every ad break.

    • +1

I wonder if McCain's marketing creatives are awaiting the results of the soggy and disappointing chip images to use in their next marketing campaign. I hope so.

  • +2

I’m surprised to see the barcode is indeed unique! Me and the wife had different numbers. They could probably track our sales! Interesting promo.

  • -1

    gmail + trick works :)

edit: weird not working "You are allowed to enter only 1 time per campaign, you have entered 1 time."

oh well 2 free bags of chips is good enough

      • can only used once.
      • alias trick didn't work for me from getgo.

I tried 'gmail+mccainpromo' came up with invalid email error

    • I’ve only claimed one, but what stops one from claiming multiple barcodes using disposable email addresses?

      • +5

        Their conscience.

  • +1

The no. of clicks are increasing by at least 2/sec.

    • looks like almost 50% of the vouchers is gone ;)

      • +1

Maybe almost gone, there's people getting multiple barcodes

  • a pic of donald trump counts as a cheeto and you get 2 codes!

  • I didn't know my name was Harry Cox

  • Photo of a black square works, thanks OP

  • Thank you OP! Uploaded a close-up image of my hairy legs, quite freaked out at how close it resembled to chips! :|

Got one voucher thanks op !

Uploaded a screenshot of this thread. Received 6067 vouchers.

  • I uploaded a photo of myself (a jar of vegemite) 🤤

  • Uploaded a photo of bland chips that were taken in 2014. Instantly received the voucher which was in the junk mail box. Thank you, ozbargainer. Good deal.

    • You have your food fotos sorted by date and blandness too? Thought I was the only one…

To anyone spamming the form with frivolous entries:

It might be a good idea to at least attempt to blend in with the crowd. Clause 6 of their Ts&Cs say:

The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of claims and
claimant’s (including a claimant’s identity, age and place of residence) and
reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who the
Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms and Conditions,
tampered with the claim process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper
misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the promotion.
Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the
Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of
those rights. The Promoter's legal rights to recover damages or other
compensation from such an offender are reserved.

So I would suggest people add some variety if they're uploading stock photos of chips, make up some boring/realistic names that don't stand out too much, etc. Tomorrow is still a working day (Friday). There's every chance they will try to cancel the barcodes of entries that are clearly frivolous, like pictures that don't contain chips, names like "Dorothy the Dinosaur", etc.

As for legal consequences, I wouldn't worry too much unless you have set up a bot to claim a large proportion of the barcodes and/or are selling them for any amount of money.

Ohh no. What are big potato gonna do? Kick my door in for a packet of frozen chips.

  • +3

Thks OP. Please Ozber's only 1 sample, so we can all get one

    • @cocaine.ninja works too!
Thanks OP, got one. Hopefully these cook alright in fan-forced oven.

Dint work at my local Woolies…coupon not found in their system

  • I hope they use all my personal details appropriately

  • I used a picture from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHiPs. Seemed to work. ;-)

  • +3

Tried to use just now in store and didn't work as coupon not recognised.
Even after several minutes of trying, none of the staff knew about this promo and said it was likely a scam?

  • +3

? Scam! Coupon not found 😊

    • +1

Probably all the idiots getting 10+ for themselves causing them to cancel the lot

      • May be true, but either they should have limited registrations or should honour the deal. even though it says it is free, it is not, they are getting all the data and we all know rest of the story.

        • Could be woolies error too, but by their own T&Cs they don't have to honour people doing the wrong thing and ruining it for everyone else

  • +3

Coupon not found at woolies, I woke up at 7 for this 😩

    • -1

That’s what report —> expired is for champ

      • +1

Ozb need to add new reason 'unconfirmed deal' or 'fakenews'

        • I misread their comment thinking they were getting the “coupon boy found” error when submitting the request.

    • Not working at Woolworths as well☹️

    • Went to 2 woollies which showed stock on their online stock checker. But was nowhere to be found in store and the tag wasn't on the shelf.

  • Thanks Dealbot I just scored a bag of chips and I took everyone's advice and screen shotted a google image 👍 a thanks everyone

    • Did you score a bag of chips in the supermarket ? Or did you rather score a voucher.

  • Read the latest comments whilst at the freezer so decided to grab the beer battered chips for half price instead. Well played McCain, well played.

  • +3

After alot of hassle, found stock, coupon 'not found' when scanned.

  • +1

Barcode not showing up in android Gmail, just a small pic icon. Perhaps pc will work?

    • Same

      • Stitch up

  • +1

Coupon not found at woolies checkout. Attendant said that’s fine, just don’t scan the chips and take them.

  • +1

Has anyone actually claimed the chips?

    • +1

See above. Yes, but coupon wasn’t recognised. Free chips are now in my freezer.

      • +1

Negative vote for describing what happened? I had a coupon, it wasn’t recognised, but was able to claim free chips thanks to helpful staff member at self checkout.

  • Coupon exceeded

  • Glad i got one

  • I got ' coupon not found' when i went to scan it at self serve ʕ ꈍᴥꈍʔ

  • +2

Also no luck getting the coupon to work in-store, even with three staffers trying to help (including at the service desk) and had to leave empty-handed. Maybe it's not in their system yet.

  • +1

There was stock in my local woolies. But coupon not found when scanned the code. The lady at the checkout says she had no idea what this is and apologized. So i bought just gave up and left.
Did anyone actually manage to get one by having their coupon scanned successfully?

  • +1

If you can be bothered to act dumb, they’ll eventually call the manager who’ll give up after a while and let you have it. Just depends if you can be stuffed waiting around for a $4 item. I persisted, but meh.

    • +2

      Is that worth your dignity?

      • Exactly

  • just went to local Woolworths. ticket on shelf was missing but was in stock. at self serve counter bar code coupon not found. 2 min later of staff trying to get it to work just gave me for free. still annoying bar code dosent work. anyone managed to successfully scan a barcode for this promotion?

    • Claimed for me and a friend earlier and both barcodes worked just fine

  • -1

This sounds like a scam…To many codes not working. Unless they met their 10k stock limit. Doubt it.

    • +1

I imagine they would send out a max of 10,000 barcodes and expect 75% or less to actually be claimed as opposed to sending out more barcodes than that and then limiting it to 10,000 bags to be claimed.

  • -5

    Fail

  • gosh, cant they just use the Fly-by method… free stuff store on your card and no need this barcode thingy…

    • +1

its not by woolies though is it.
Besides if they get woolies to that would've costed them several. thousands extra cause woolies don't do shiiit for free.

  • +12

I can't believe some of the people on this site.
Full go in at 7am to claim some free chips worth a couple of bucks…and start lashing out thats its a scam.

Relax. Its not the end of the world.

    • Guess $4 worth a lot to people during crisis time.

      • -3

Yet they have time to post on OzBargain when they could be working either that be mowing lawns or washing cars at traffic lights. No excuses!

    • +2

      Spitting Chips ;)

    • +1

Unfortunately, the OzBargain community is not exactly known for high social standards and courtesy.

  • Posted a picture of CCP cause they are dangerously bland chips and just waiting to ruin your dinner. Still got it anyway.

  • So anyone luck enough to scan barcode? may be worth to contact mccain chips representatives?

    • +2

I emailed them and just got this reply "Firstly my sincere apologies for the obvious inconvenience. I will forward this onto the correct department to address and make contact with you."

I suspect the coupons might start working soon enough though. Or if not, maybe they'll send everyone a different coupon…

      • Everyone knows by now but I got another reply "There was a technical issue and the barcodes are now working. We apologize for the inconvenience." Also just picked a bag up

  • +4

    barcode did not work

  • I got 2 codes and was going to go to woolies but judging by other comments, looks like it's not worth the hassle

  • +2

The code not working is probably just a stuff up. I bet they get it working in a day or two.

  • Same as what others said, barcode could not be found. Went to 2 woolies, second woolies manager was kind enough to let me take the chips home.

They said they are not aware of the said promo by Mccains as it was not in the system nor any memo given.

  • +8

Not working. Crap. Staff questioned like i am stealing the chips..

    • staff are like hawks on expensive items like chips

  • -3

    phishing site?
now that i think about it, it seems unlikely that mccain would spend extra money to purchase the domain mccainpromo when they already own mccain.com.au which they already own. a quick google search of mccainpromo gave me nothing so theres a really high chance this is a phishing site. even so this is just a theory and i may be wrong.
