Anyone Used Arlec Wi-Fi Extenders?

Hi all,

I was at Bunnings and saw something new:

https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-4-outlet-powerboard-with-w…

Arlec 4 Outlet Powerboard With WiFi Range Extender

I only need a pretty simple range extender and space on powerboards is at a premium in the room I have. $55 is a reasonable price but can't find anything much online about them.

Personally I’d avoid and just run Ethernet to another AP. At least then you know it will be fast and reliable. I can’t find any specs online for this either - another good reason to avoid.

This is what happens when Bunnings start selling home networking products exclusive to them. No specs on the product page and I can't even find anything with a 2 minute google or searching on Arlec's website.

This could very well be a 2.4GHz only wifi extender to complement their smart home products and if that is the case it is useless as a home wifi extender needing both 2.4 and 5Ghz ranges. I could be wrong but with zero information all you can do is guess…

    Mesh

    • Agreed.
I tried a couple of extenders with poor results. A Tenda mesh system under $100 is streets ahead.

Avoid Arlec products and their derivates (Antsig, Deta etc.) Former name of quality now just importing cheap rubbish.
