TP-Link VN020 Modem Router

Hey guys,

My trusty old tplink TD vg5612 died and I'm after a replacement. I was told the vn020 is the updated model of it. Does anyone have one? Should it be able to handle 25 speed NBN if I wish to upgrade from 12/1?

Cheers

  • What type of NBN tech are you on? HFC, FTTN or FTTP?

The VN020-F2v is a fairly low end VDSL modem router, it doesn't have dual band Wifi.
only supports single band 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz

there's also no Gigabit ports either so you're limited to 100Mbps on ethernet. https://www.tp-link.com/au/service-provider/xdsl/vn020-f2v/#…

as a drop-in replacement it is fine however the connectivity is a little lacking.

  • Hi mate,. Pretty sure it's fibre to the node

  • +1

Do you have some better WiFi solution like mesh or something going on? Spending $80 odd bucks on a 2.4g N only router with only 100Mbit ethernet in this day and age is pretty rough

With such slow WiFi it might even munt 50/20 wirelessly (but be fine hard wired) but 25/5 should be ok on the WiFi.

I mean, this guy here is only $20 more and would be way better for your internal devices (still only 10/100 ethernet tho - and perhaps the reviews are bad? For only $20 more it looks like a no brainer, but maybe there's a catch I'm unaware of?)

That was literally from 10sec of looking on only Mwave's site, going from your link I went up the chain to routers, selected VDSL2 and AC WiFi and that was the cheapest one there
