Upcoming full catalogue for Black Friday Wednesday.

Just taking a break from the surf to post this so the pages are all over the place. Looks like quite a few good deals but I’m keen to get back in the water.

  • Bauhn 65" UHD Smart TV for $599 - While other 65" screens can cost well over $1,000, ALDI will be offering a Bauhn model for just $599. The Ultra HD TV also comes with easy access to all your favourite streaming services, including Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube.
  • WAECO Portable Fridge Freezer for $599 - With a massive 48L capacity and heavily insulated walls, this portable fridge freezer is not only the perfect companion for campers, but it's also hundreds of dollars below the regular retail price too.
  • De'Longhi Espresso Machine for $99.99 - Slashed to just a third of its original cost, bargain hunters will want to snap up De'Longhi's popular 15 bar pressure pump and cappuccino system.
  • De'Longhi Argento Kettle for $59.99 - Usually priced at $99, De'Longhi's 1.7L Argento stainless kettle will go for just $59.99, which is a saving of $39.01.

    • I would say being your tv is 9 years old and only fhd. The aldi tv being 4k. That in itself is a big leap.

    • Depends what you are watching.
If only viewing broadcast TV (only in SD or HD), the higher definition of UHD would likely be no real benefit. Same for watching BluRay or DVDs.

Sound will probably be much better on the old Samsung than this cheap generic TV.

I have a quality plasma of similar age & a recent UHD Samsung. I watch the UHD, even though what I view rarely benefits from UHD. (It consumes less electricity.)

Aldi have an easy 60 day return policy.

      • Good thinking on the 60 day policy - might be worth giving it a go.

We mainly watch Netflix (non 4k) but we have a mid-tier HT system for sound, so not too worried in that regard about sound. We also have an XBONE S and one or two 4k blu rays that we have lying around - I suppose that would be the greatest, noticeable increase in picture quality?

        • Lugging a 65" back is the greatest issue with a return.
Don't use 4K much if any on my 4K Samsung to be give any advice.

Don't forget you may later upgrade streaming to 4K. But there will always be another Aldi TV offer!

    • I've got the 65" Aldi TV. I'm happy with it but the factory speakers sound terrible, just tinny just a pair of tweeters. Not a concern for me as I have a 5.1 set up.

  • How would this compare to something like the recent $974.55 Hisense 65S8 deal?

    • Well one Deal is not yet available & the other Deal is expired…
Best to compare TVs side by side, but Aldi TV can only be viewed after purchasing!

  • If it is a really great deal and like all great Aldi Deals this year you will be lucky to get one . You will need to be at store at least an hour before it opens . If I wanted a new TV would just go on line to Kogan. Prior to this year I liked shopping at Aldi but now when I arrive at store at my earliest at 09.10am all good Wed & Sat specials are all gone.

  • Aldi also have a 0.05% surcharge on credit card payments. So might have to bring cash to avoid paying $29.95 extra on this TV.

    • +1

      You’ve calculated 5%, not 0.05%

      • LOL so I have…

Ok make that 3 bucks then. 😅

    • Or you can just use your savings account?

    Hi everyone,
I bought BAUHN 60" 4k Ultra HD LED LCD TV Model: ATV60UHD-0918 on Jan 2019 $599 from ALDI. Performance: is average but that is expected with the price. However, the screen started to play up in June 2020. Screen is dark on one side and then back to normal. It is kind of on/off thing. The screen was completely dark (dead) last month. I contact their service line: 1300 886 649, they ask me to email: [email protected] with case number. Took them about a week to get back to me saying they forward my case to technician and will get back to me as soon as they hear from tech. I haven't heard from them. I then email them few days back to see if any update but still haven't heard from them until now. I don't think it is cheap to fix and I don't think it is worth to fix any way but I just make them aware of the issue and what is the option. With this experience, I don't think I ever buy another BAUHN TV.

    • Not worth it to buy unless for kids or spare room maybe..

    • Aldi electronics are cheap, but a risk.

As the units are generic models from different factories, they are not as easy to repair - there is no consistency in design or parts used. There isn't the support to techs that there is with brand name units.
And quality control is a real problem over the life of the product! (Tempo contacted me to try to help, but I decided it was not easily fixed from this end of the supply chain.)

So the importers / suppliers to Aldi may not be able to repair - under warranty. My guess is they have a number of spare units, to swap out parts. It's easier for them to delay.

Compare that with service from large brands.
In a family LG TV, there was an annoying vibration coming from the rear of the TV with low frequency sound from the speakers. Took techs a few visits without finding the fault, until I demonstrated a recording that produced the fault. LG offered a new model with better features as a replacement.

I wouldn't buy an Aldi trademarked (Bauhn) TV. It will likely have problems & may not last as long as a (discounted) name brand unit.
(I bought a $600 50" UHD Samsung in a TGG Deal & am very happy with it after 2.5 years.)

  • Christmas runout… all gone within a few seconds at my local store…
