  • Refund sent out today, although $1.20 is missing for some reason, don't know why ?

  • Sounds like eBay may have fixed the issue with this promo.

Might be worth trying it out again. Maybe for a low priced item to confirm if it works firsth - so that we're not held up for months trying to claim back hundreds of dollars.

  • Got my refund too.

  • +3

Got my refund from April and also listed an new item this month which sold - I received full payout for this item successfully

Looks like issue is now fixed

    • Listed with the gumtree promo and received full payout immediately?

      That's good news then!

      • Yep no credits, just paid out the full amount

  • Just sold another item and used gumtree, final value fee still deducted… Here we go again. Was a small value product so I'm not fussed how long it will take to get the final value fee back. One thing I did do was had to edit my listing, maybe that stuffs up my gumtree listing. We will see if it takes another 3 months to get credited.

I can confirm, once you list from gumtree over to eBay, do not revise the listing at all. The promotion won't go through and then you'll have to wait 15 days and contact eBay support. I listed another item and got the final value fee not charged at all.

      • Until you met a buyer who did not pay after buying your items. Then you have no choice but to relist it and hit with FVF deductions. This actually happened to me. Contacted Ebay CSO 3 times now and still no fee credits.

        • Maybe its better off not to relist it through ebay but list it again through gumtree. Such a shame how eBay takes forever to credit people though :(

Just sold and item and no FVF was deducted, first time It's worked in months. Listed via Gumtree app then ported to eBay through Chrome mobile browser and not the eBay app)

    For a $90 item I was paid out $89.70.

    • Did you make any edits?

      • Nope, no edits for this listing.

Edit: Sorry Yes I did. I double checked the revision history and I changed the Buy it now price 2 mins after I listed it.

        • So it seems that revising the listing didn't affect the promo for you.

I wonder why the promo didn't go through for @PattyDaPanda - for the revised listing.

          • @proudwanderer: Yeah no issue for me this time.

This item was listed 14th July, sold 14th July, and paid out today 16th July. Possibly they fixed something within a day? (doubt it)

I used the chrome mobile site to list the item, then the desktop site to revise the listing, never used the eBay app (selling via the eBay app is terrible as they force "best offer" on you).

Possibly listing or revising via the app causes issues.

I have to say I am liking the new eBay payments after using it, at least I can check if they've stuffed up the FVF fee straight away instead of having to wait for the monthly invoice.

          • @proudwanderer: Not too sure, it might be my account weirdly enough. I asked a friend who did the same thing and did revisions and got it to work too. Quite odd.

    • A follow-up, sold the 2nd item using this promo and I have been charged the FVF fee this time - even though I used the same process as last time (except this item did not have a price revision). This is just broken…
eBay chat says a reimbursement will be sent in 15 days.

I hope you get your reimbursement soon. I have been waiting for mine since 6 weeks ago…

I seems to get the bad egg here. 5 weeks have passed with no fee refund. Already contacted Ebay 3 times about this and each time they say will get refund soon… Very annoying! Perhaps their definition of "soon" is very different from mine.

  • I can confirm this just worked for me as well and it has for previous 3-4 listings. Sold an item was charged $0.30 as FVF, rest of the amount paid into my bank account. No paypal fees is also a bonus.
I tried to use the promo https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/635303 but it kept saying I have 5/5 left of this promo even after listing the item. Ebay chat also confirmed that promo was not applied to the listing and were basically useless in answering 'how I could use that promo'. Ended up cancelling the listing (thankfully!!) that was 14 days old, listed on gumtree and ported it across to ebay and sold the item within 30 mins!

Not sure if this would help, but to those who have experienced difficulty in getting your fee back, do try take some time to submit your case to ACCC.

ACCC report a consumer link: https://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/contact-the-accc/report-a…
    eBay Australia ABN: https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View/22086288888

I have submitted mine and if more folks step forward to do the same, we might get this resolved sooner rather than later.

Done - actually very straight forward to make the ACCC complaint. Takes around 5 mins.

The NSW Fair Trading complaint seems to be more involved.

  • Has anyone tried contacting fair trading about not receiving a fee credit? First few times I was short-changed, the live chat rep fixed it up immediately, but the most recent time, I've been waiting weeks … nothing. They originally committed to a 15 day timeline, but now that it's been missed, they refuse to commit to a new timeline.

Unfortunately you are not alone in this. I have been waiting for my fee credit ($100+) since 2 months plus ago. Tried reaching out to eBay chat support multiple times. All of them promised to give my fee credit in 15 days. Yeah right, 2 months later still waiting… eBay has really lost it. I try to avoid any eBay purchases for now.
I have been doing a lot of my online shopping on Amazon recently. Luckily Amazon has been really good and their services in Australia have improved vastly over the years.

      • Did you try complaining to fair trading?

  • Have any of you received your fee credit? 2 months for me. eBay is honestly a complete joke.

  • This may as well be listed as expired. I was also charged a fee despite going through Gumtree. With this and the new payment policy, I don't see myself using eBay too much in the future.

  • Just sold $2500 camera lens via this. Low and behold slapped with $300+ of fees. To be fair, this has happened multiple times on different selling promos since transitioning to managed payments a year ago. They do eventually refund it is just a major pita.

If anyone is interested I have raised the issue with QLD Office of Fair Trading in the last this they don't give a… Because apparently I didn't purchase anything as it's selling fees.

  • Sold something in late July, been chasing them up for weeks. After promising that the fee credit would be refunded within 7 working days, they have now made up some excuse not to pay it. Will be reporting to the ACCC. I have sold many items under this promotion with no issues before.

ACCC not very interested. They will pass you onto your local fair trading. In the past QLD Office of Fair Trading are not interested at all. Only option is taking to court probably unless you can wait until they eventually refund it.
