eBay decided it wanted to sign me out as I went to checkout, so I missed out this time. Congrats to everyone who managed to snag one!

I'll just have to hope for a competitive price on Dell.com that I can use an advantage voucher with before the end of the year.

      • +1

I am lucky I thought about this before hand. I went to modify some account settings and made it prompt me to sign in again around 5:55pm so I knew for sure that wouldn't happen at checkout at 6pm. Now you know for next time I guess. Sorry you couldn't get one :(

        • This would have been my second to pair with one from the original deal, so I'm not that upset. Happy for everyone who's got one coming, it's a fantastic display!

    • any chance of more stock

      • Likely not, units that were allocated are sold.

        • Pull in an order for 1000 units. We will deal with it for you, you scratch our backs etc.

    • +1

Minus manufacturing costs, staff, postage, etc

      • They made ez money by selling a large number of products at lower costs and have got less profit in selling these at msrp, but they sold all these units in under 2 minutes.

  • Thanks got 10!!

    • +10

We have assembled a special hit team for you. You'll get a knock shortly ;)

      • +3

Any hints on when the next big s2721dgf deal might be? Cyber monday allocation? Boxing day? ;)

        • LiMaaa, if you say you'll have S2721DGF sub $450 on Cyber Monday, i'll kill you man

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I think going that low would incur loss. Rest assured… For now :D

      • +1

Hoping for a Boxing Day deals

    • +5

Max discount with the code was $1000 so technically you have paid more per unit lol

      • 20% off, Max discount of $1000, I don't think there were any monitors that were 5 grand was there? Haha

        • I think they meant each unit provides a $117.40 discount with the coupon code, 10 units would go $174 over the $1000 limit.

They got sucked in for 1 & a half units, ha.

Please arrange scalpers to be delivered late January ;)

  • Grabbed the aw2721d. Surprised it's not super popular.

    • +2

esports gaming level, clearly not enough csgo players here ;)

  • The promo code didn't work on my order feels bad

    • +1

Yeh it didn't go through for me either despite me clicking it… Any chance they will apply it after purchase?

      • Would be nice, tried to apply it multiple times but it was denied

  • +1

Good lord, I'm glad I stalked this. OzB-d in 5 minutes.

Can't wait to get mine. Thanks OP! :D

  • there was a sale last month for 400 units, did it also get sold out within 2 mins?

    • I think it lasted longer tbh

  • +1

That damn paypal payment processing screen gave me anxiety.
To think Dell made an easy $470k in 2 minutes with the DGF alone 🤣

    • Same. Paypal took forever to load and made soo many redirects. I was sketching it because last night the Paypal screen was signing me out of ebay

      • Haha I was prepping. Signed into Paypal prior to the launch. Then ebay made you enter in the password again in the ebay instanced window…
Thank lord for password manager auto fill 😅

      • really? Paypal was just 2 clicks for me

  • i dont know, but i thought deal was live already at around 5:58 qld time.

    • Rip

    • i'm not in QLD but the deal start at approx. 7 PM Sydney time.

  • +1

thats what you call GONE IN 45 SECONDS

    • Gone in 60 seconds.

      • Did we break any sales records?? Also where would you post updates of when the expected shipments will go out?

        • In the main op, if shipping changes or there are some important updates.

  • 10 minutes in and the S2721DGF is out of stock?

  • +2

Good job Limaaa. You've broke Ozbargain, now I can't even load to see comments

  • I missed out for now the 3rd or 4th time. I was about 5 minutes late. I didn't realise they'd sell out so fast. First time I've been here close to the sale time. Other times, I've been at work and saw that the sale was over 1-2 hours after I found out about it.

    • last time it was at 5am and I was awake but didnt want to make a rash decision so late, glad i waited i guess since my 3080 will be coming next month as well

      • I'm also waiting on video cards as well. I'm trying to decide between a GTX 3080 or RX 6800/6800XT, but not sure when stock levels will get better and/or if pricing won't be so inflated. If any of those three cards were close to what their US retail price is, then I'd be happy with any of them, but the current prices in Australia are way too over.

What version/model 3080 did you get? I assume it's a pre-order? What kind of price did you get on it?

I'm building a system based around a 3900XT and I just need the video card and monitor now. I thought I'd get the Monitor tonight, but yeah, that didn't turn out too well :(.

        • My system is a 9900k and using a 2070(non-s) currently, since I got a better job this year now buying an 80-series for the first time ever lol.

I got the EVGA XC3 Black Edition for $1139 from PLE, i got an ETA from them last week so should be here soonish hopefully, ordered on launch day, sucks I waited so long but I dont really care.

I suggest going for 3080s if its the same price as the 6800XT even next year, it comes with way more features and Nvidia as a platform is far more stable. I know people keep saying VRAM but you will be playing at 1440p,yes? the 10GB will be more than enough for a few years and its also faster RAM. I can only recommend getting the 6800XT if it's actually a solid $100ish dollars lower.

          • @Freestyle: Darn, that is a great price and I think pretty highly of EVGA due to their after sales support. I'll have to have a look at PLE. Is that still listed there at that price, or did you get lucky and get it at a great pre-order only price?

Looking at the current prices, it turns out that it will be worth the wait.

            • @Ice009: Its still in that price, EVGA XC3 from PLE are the lowest priced ones in AU for some reason, Scorptec even marked them up a lot

Not sure if the landing pages are still there though, as you might expect they have a huge backlog to get through, stock normalises probably in Feb/March

              • @Freestyle: I also haven't bought a 80-series card for a long time. I think the GTX 680 is the last top end card I bought. The main reason that I want to get one now, though, is that finally the price to performance is worth it for the first time in a long time, and also, like you, I can now afford it.

I'll have a look at PLE, but I am assuming I can't pre-order as it will probably say sold out?

If I can get a 3080 instead of a 6800XT for around 1150, I am assuming the Nvidia card is the way to go and the better performer? Also, I haven't seen any reviews since the launch reviews, but are the aftermarket 3080 and 6800XTs much better performing over the reference designed ones? Have you had a chance to check out reviews of your EVGA XC3 compared to other 3080s?

Oh, and is 10GB VRAM enough compared to the 16GB that the AMD cards come with (this is another reason I was looking at the AMD cards).

I guess I can wait until February/March for stock and prices to normalise (if I have to). Do you guys think the prices will actually come down, though?. I can just try and get something like a 1070Ti second hand and use that as an interim card. I sold my RX 5700XT about 3-4 weeks ago. I am now regretting selling it. I didn't expect stock shortages from AMD too.

                • @Ice009: Yes 10GB should be more than enough for 1440p gaming, dont get AMD cards just because of VRAM, get them if they are better in value because they lack a ton of features and drivers were unstable in the past, not sure about this time as its still new.

Yeah the XC3 performs similarly to the FE version, its also the smallest AIB 3080 available as most others are 3 slots. The 'best' AIB card is the ASUS TUF but that comes at $1299 minimum here i believe but EVGA ones are more than good enough, EVGA are also a great company to handle if you have troubles with the card, their customer support is top-notch. Make sure you register your card online to get 3 years warranty

I have no idea about 6000-series AIBs though, but seeing the prices that are basically the same as 3080s cant see them as worth it lol

Prices? Probably wont go down till end of next year, stock of the cards SHOULD normalise in March but who knows, remember we live in a covid world, I know its easy to forget that living in AU lol

                  • @Freestyle: Hi, thanks for the reply. I sent PLE an email to ask about ordering the EVGA FTW Ultra, so I will see what they say. Is that Asus TUF one sold anywhere or listed up anywhere for $1299.

I think I will take your (and Kille745's) advice and go for an Nvidia card. I did want to go AMD, but with their prices not being better (this was one of their biggest selling points to me as I thought they would be cheaper than the RTX 3080s), and also if you guys don't think that extra VRAM will make any difference over the 3080s 10GB, I'll start reading/watching some reviews on the 3080 aftermarket cooled cards and see what the differences are.

As for the pricing going down, did you mean to say at the end of this year, or did you really mean the end of next year? I don't mind waiting until Feb/March for stock, but I also don't want to pay inflated prices.

The pricing on the Nvidia 20xx series is why I skipped it all together and went with the RX 5700XT. The price to performance ratio of those cards sucked. However, with the Nvidia 30xx series cards, if they are actually sold at what their retail prices should be, then this is the first time in a very long time where I feel the price to performance is worth it, so that is why I was willing to spend over $1000 on a video card for the first time in ages (over 4 years or so).

                    • @Ice009: end of next year lol, demand will stabilize by then and you'll start getting good deals, the 2070 for example couldnt be found below $900 for quite a while and that was pre covid, I resorted to getting mine through Amazon since everywhere in AU was so expensive.

Nah VRAM shouldnt be your deciding factor, not for 1440p high refresh rate gaming.

Uhh…I don't remember where I saw the TUF but now everywhere it seems to be a premium of 1399, probably not worth it than, the FTW Ultra is pretty good alternative though, its one of the OCed cards with a beefier cooler than my XC3 so should be pretty good. Check out Jayz2cents initial 3080 review, i think it was the FTW Ultra that he had and this is the complete indepth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG_xJ_rC3WE

              • @Freestyle: Apparently PLE were able to source them directly from EVGA, cutting out the distributor middleman and passing the savings onto us

                • @cille745: lol i see, where did you read that

                  • @Freestyle: Somewhere on whirlpool I think, makes sense considering all their other cards are priced normally
