Would Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X Audiophile Open-Air over-Ear Headphones Be Alright for Gaming at $150?

Thinking of buying these Audio Technica ATH-AD700Xs as a present, probably willing to bid up to $150 as after that I may as well buy from an official retailer.

Are these alright for gaming? I'm looking at these for my brother, he has a standalone microphone so I know that's not an issue, but because they're open back can you hear what he's playing like if you're on the other side of the room? Is the audio quality alright? And will they probably fit ok? The mechanism on them looks different to how most other headphones do.

Any advice from people who have them or know about them would be great.

  Because it is open back the wearer will hear those around him and those around him will hear the audio from the headphones, maybe go for closed it that's a problem. I like my open headphones but often don't wear them because of this.

    I mean if its just a little bit outside thats ok. I have pc37x sennheisers thst clsim to be open back but you can hear anything from outside so i dunno how more open the AT ones would be. A little bit is fine but too much would be a pain for everyone in the house
