ShopBack/Cashrewards Tracking

Hi all,

This might be a dumb question - but is there any way to associate cash back from shopback/cash rewards to particular items purchased (e.g. a transaction ID)?

For example, if I buy 5 things off eBay, and I only get one cash back transaction, how can I figure out which of the 5 things the cashback was for?

Yes I could manually calculate the percentage and work through it, but that's just a pain when you're dealing with a heap of transactions.

Thinking I might have to setup a spreadsheet going forward to track things as I don't have 100% confidence all my cashbacks are going through….

Thanks

  • For CR you receive an email each time you paid a store, can’t you use that as reference? Can’t speak to SB.

    • +1

it says who the merchant is, the date, the cashback amount and the purchase amount. No transaction ID.

I guess the purchase amount is helpful.

Shopback on the other hand only gives date and time (time seems to be off by the way), order number (which doesn't seem to correspond to the merchant) and cashback amount.

  • From my experience with both (and lodging numerous missing claims) take screenshots of your order, enabled extension, % return, date/time, disabled pop ups, and browser history.

    Currently getting a manager to investigate a 14% Shopback return for a $380 purchase = $53.20.

They don't want to pay up I'm guessing, so they threw down "5 possible" reasons (excuses) why it didn't go through. I asked that MF to check again, as I did everything right on my end… Dropped the "breach of contract and send me all the data you collect about me", so we'll see if that prevails.

Very annoying as they make even basic mistakes like eg. 1% of $5 = 3c. Not hard…..

    • send me all the data you collect about me

Just look on the dark web

      • Please link me a full tutorial lol

    • bloody hell what a pain. I'm going through a review request at the moment for $15 and I suspect they'll just dismiss it.

  • if I buy 5 things off eBay, and I only get one cash back transaction

Shopback shows each item for the transaction.

  • Here is my suggestion, and exactly what I do: Don't use your normal browser program for Shopback/Cashrewards. I use Safari for my normal everyday stuff. I reserve Chrome for only SB/CR purchases.

I have had tracking issues using Safari for whatever reason (maybe something installed or malware or who knows), but never an issue since having a dedicated SB/CR browser. Then the trick is to make sure you turn on only the appropriate extension at the time you are purchasing. If you have both extensions on, then who knows what will happen.

I realise some people use Chrome as their main browser, but I believe there are extensions for Firefox too. Just make sure you clear everything from your SB/CR browser before you start using it for such purchases. You don't want any other extensions or whatever causing problems.
