        • oh damn…thanks anyway

        • Me too but unless I can find $1400 worth of cards it's not worth it.

Thursday morning 9am, Southland Big W (VIC), none left

  • +1

None at Doncaster, Box Hill & Eastland, as of late yesterday.

Can anyone confirm stock at other stores (Vic)?

    • +1

      South Yarra out

  • +2

    None in Fountain Gate

    • Cheers mate saved me a trip on the way home! Think that's that then unless someone wants to drive to Pakenham?

  • +1

    QV Melbourne out

  • +3

If anyone is looking for them in SA, I have done the leg work for you. Drove around and after being to 3 with none in stock. I have called the others.
The only place verified with stock is :
    Parabanks - approx 10 x $100 left

Did not get through to Elizabeth and Marion branches. The rest are all out to stock as of this evening.

    • +1

I was told someone bought 500 cards in 1 go at the Brickworks SA branch when I called to ask if they had stock

      • What? They allowed it?
Resellers, the people who sell them for 5-7% discount online. What a joke!

Most Big W stores are so far from me, so basically nothing available.

        • They must've allowed it if that's what the store person said. He did say he's not sure what the person is doing with 500 cards…

          • @gym: with 500 cards, that's so much better investment than our interest rates lol

      • 500 cards or 500 in cards. I don’t know how swiping $50000 doesn’t trigger some sort of scam warning.

  • About 10 x $50 Him and Her cards at Big W Wangaratta..

    Country towns is the key!

Driving to NSW so just thought I’d pop in to check.

Kept a close eye on this at Carindale, Qld, to see how people operate. Here's how it went down at a Qld major:
    * Tue & Wed morning: over $7k worth of cards on display
    * Thu (opening): only $700 worth of cards on display. Have to assume about $6.5k hidden throughout store. One gentlemen of a certain ethnicity walks straight up when the door was opened, grabbed $500 off the display and proceeded to hide the other $200 behind other cards at an adjacent stand.

    🙄

    • So basically Carindale was also wiped off?

  • I can't even find these gift cards at WW, someone just of emptied it out.

  • Had plenty of cards at Lismore Big W but they could not be activated so they were removing them all from the shelves.

    • Yeah?
In SA there isnt many stores and I couldn't even find any at WW. I figured someone already did that trick.

You win some, you lose some. I may have to grab tho eBay cards next Saturday or Amazon.

  • +1

so sad, coles all over again. all sold out/not available anywhere I'm guessing some people/employees cleaned it all out

  • Does it come in $20 cards?

    • $50 and $100 only, and they are likely all sold out already.

  • I called Waverly, QV, Southland, Parkmore, Lillydale 2 days ago, no luck.
Just called Epping, no luck. out, UNLESS restocked in the last day & half.

So none left in Vic it seems?
If you find some, please let people know.

I called Lillydale 2 days ago and they said they had a few, asked for 2 $100 to be put on hold, I also asked/checked if it was the right card, I was told yes.
So I went up there then, only to find that it was 2 ultimate HIM cards instead, so a wasted trip/time as I could have gone to other store instead.

Only 2 stores could be bothered to even check behind the display racks (1 in Big W & 1 Woolies).

So this deal is only from Big W and not Woolies?
They should move surplus stock from Woolies to Big W stores.

  • I went to Woolworths, took all the available $100 cards off their shelf and took them to customer service desk. I explained they were 10% off at Big W and asked if I could take them out of the store and down to Big W to buy there. They noted that the cards had no value & so allowed me to do it. Big W had no problem with it either & the transaction went normally from there.

    • +1

I’ve tried this but they didn’t allow it😡😡. Which store did you go to?

      • Underwood, Brisbane

    • I'd be careful doing this. I did it during the Coles promotion and my cards got suspended. They reckon they track the serial numbers or something. There's stuff on the TCN facebook with people saying their cards have been suspended as well.

      • Did they fix it or did you just lose the cards?

        • No they're keeping them suspended. Looks like I've lost my money. I only did 2 x 50's so not too bad.

          • -1

@JKnoch92: It's nothing to do with the stock coming from Big W, don't let them tell you that if they try. Activation systems have fraud detection measures in place; if you buy more a preset threshold for a product, it'll flag and suspend.

If you've paid for legitimate product and can substantiate that then they need to lift the suspension or provide replacement with active stock or provide a refund.

Push for a clear response and if they fail to provide one, contact Consumer Affairs.

      • -1

The suspensions have nothing to do with the stock itself. Inventory is generic and useable across all retailers, there are no unique identifiers that restrict stock to a specific store for sale. Merchandisers carry stock across multiple retailers daily.

Source: I work in the wonderful world of gift cards.

    • +2

This is crossing into some pretty dodgy territory

      • It's a very mild no-no, at worst. TCN encourage it because they want the sale. The retailers don't care because they don't pay for the stock to begin with. The only party that cares is the distributor because it messes with their automated inventory levels.

        • but who is taking the 10% hit?

          • @Bob Loblaw: TCN pays the cost of the promotion. Sometimes the retailers will pitch in (Coles likely contributed to the 15% offer).

  • Does this promotion on the 9/12 or the 16/12?

In the catalogue, when I click onto the blue bauble, it pops up with some details saying
'Offer valid Thu 3 Dec - Wed 16 Dec 2020'

    • 9/12 - there is specific mention about this date on the gift card page in catalogue.

  • +2

    Nothing at Southland VIC today

  • -2

I got my hand on 18 $50 and 5 $100 TCN cards and placed them behind the corded home phone boxe so that I can get them when I go in on Thursday. But I wont be able to make it, so if anyone wants them they are at Big W Burleigh heads

  • +1

see you guys at woolworths in 2 days

    • I’ll be glad when it’s all over, it’s exhausting.

  • Is this still going?

  • Well 0 out of 1 for him and her gift card at my local Woolworths,
    2 out of 4 at big W.

I guess getting them from Woolworths going to be significantly harder, considerating the in store signage. So you don't need to be a professional shopper to be aware gift cards being on special.

  • I believe I read that JB has no limit on the number of TCN cards for purchases, but have also read comments mentioning that certain stores have a limit. Is this a standard rule or depends on the rep serving at the time ?

I have $750 worth of HIM cards (5100 + 550) and I could try my luck tomorrow with Zippay but I don't want to if JB Hi FI are iffy with these cards.

If I don't get any more TCN cards tomorrow (which is like 99%) I will use the Zippay Saturday offer to purchase $300 valued cards to maximize the 10% return.

Also, could anyone let me know if I need to activate the TCN cards prior to using them at JB ?

    • +1

No need to activate them, that is done when you purchase them. But it doesn't hurt to go through the registration process after your purchase to make sure they've been activated and are ready to go.

    • I thought this deal with BigW has finished?
