        • Oh haha that link was to my comment :)

Bear in mind that's for my model which isn't the QLED version. The QLED one that my mate has seems to have very noticeable corner vignetting compared to the non-QLED model.

Also, one major drawback with the QLED model is that it doesn't have bass/treble adjustment in the sound settings. Even though it has an adjustable equaliser, the audio is still lacking a lot of bass. My non-QLED model has the bass/treble adjustment and is surprisingly pretty good. I don't need a soundbar for it. Although mine is connected to a Logitech Z5500 anyway.

    • Can you take a few pictures to share with us the quality of the tv/screen? :)

      • +6

I am really pleased with the screen quality both for 4K Netflix and on the Xbox Series X. It actually has better image quality than my non-Qled Samsung 65 TU8000, and that tv cost me $1200 last month. I like the Android OS on the Samsung, so was looking for a budget Android 65" for the man cave. This Eko Qled has very good colour 'depth'. It looks rich, without looking saturated.

I can't comment on FTA content, because I haven't tuned that in yet.

As for the android part, my son organised the homescreen to remove the ads and install Disney+. It all seems pretty good.

The TV took a while to boot up the first time we turned it on, and I thought it was always going to be that way (like my old Hisense), but turning it on from standby is actually really fast. Same as my Samsung.

I have paired the screen with an LGSK10 soundbar with wireless surround speakers and the tv remote turns it and controls the volume. However when I turn the tv off, the soundbar goes to mute mode, and I have to use the soundbar remote to turn it off. Small quirk.

Overall I was skeptical, but now I am very impressed with the quality for the price. Would recommend to the budget buyer like me.

Feel free to ask me any questions, if I can help, I will.

        • All sounds pretty good mate
Getting mine set up tomorrow night.
You may eventually feel like getting a Chromecast with Google tv, the experience and os is very snappy. The remote with mic is great and basically replaces my tv and soundbar remotes ( unless want to adjust sound settings. It has various settings for power and volume treatment of the devices. Another benefit is the remote is Bluetooth as well as IR beaming so may Work better than The supplied Remote (which a lot Of people seem to have issues with according to the product review thread.

        • HI , it's a 60hz TV.. have you feel any afterimage in games or sport programs?

          thanks very much =D

          • +1

@hieix: None with any Xbox games. I have been playing Forza Motorsport 7, Grid and Project Cars 3 and it has been smooth and crystal clear.

As for sport, you have reminded me to install the Kayo app. I'll let you know in a few.

            • +1

@Ge3ks: Kayo runs well. Just watched a bit of the AFL Grand Final replay and it was really clear.

One thing that I don't like much is that when you are using an inbuilt app, you can't adjust the picture settings on the fly. You have to exit the app first.

You can adjust the picture settings while using an external source, like a console though, and I assume, during a FTA broadcast.

              • +1

@Ge3ks: I've gotten around that by pressing the Google button on the remote and saying "open settings".

                • +1

@CVonC: Awesome, would never have thought of that. Thankyou!

                  • +1

@Ge3ks: Yeah it bugged me not being able to see the picture whilst trying to adjust! I just randomly thought about trying it and to my surprised it worked lol.

Also, if you go to Settings, Apps, See all apps. You'll find "Factory Menu". There you can adjust overscan (as well as bunch of other crap you probably shouldn't touch)! The left/right/up/down adjustments are only adjustable during live FTA though.

  • keen to buy this but the closest store having stock is 13km away.
for one person without a car and no friend, what's a possible solution for me to bring it home..?

    • You can always call the store and pay over the phone, arrange for home delivery.

      • Not sure if can but a nice lady put one aside when I sent my folks in to Sus it out yesterday, legends

    • +1

If you lived in Darwin I would help you.

      • Thanks mate. I'm in nsw

    • Paid 100 to 2 removalists who used to help me move apartment to pick it up and delivered to me. TV looks amazing with PS5

  • I kinda underestimated how big the tv (box) is. It fits in my Prado, kinda tilted it so it isn’t lying flat but absolutely no way would I be able to have it completely upright. Here’s hoping nothing broke in my short transit.

    • You reckon it will fit into a kluger?

      • On the box it says do not lift from top or sides as it will damage the frameless design but yet the big w dock pick up guys seem to have dragged it across.

I just measured the box at 1m high and 1.5m length.

        • +1

On the box it says do not lift from top or sides as it will damage the frameless design

I believe that's when taking it out of the box.

    • Same. I bought a Samsung 65" a month ago and that fit in laying flat, so I assumed this one would, too. But this Eko wouldn't fit in the back of my Triton dualcab ute, upright or flat. It was the same width, so it fit between the wheel arches, but this box was longer. I had it lifted up onto my tailgate with the canopy window tied down.

The Big W dispatch lady also told me that if I transported it flat, that it would void my warranty. I said, no worries, it's not flat, it's angled. Haha. (I drove home really carefully)

      • +1

Yeah when I got the non-QLED model for myself and then the QLED model for my mate, they both had to be on an angle in my hatch lol. Driver seat had to move forward too. So uncomfortable with a stick shift too lol.

        • Do you see much difference between your non-QLED vs your mate's QLED version? Cheers

          • @JaeTee: Hi JaeTee, you may have missed my reply to you comparing the two.

To add to that, I don't notice any difference in picture quality as in the QLED doesn't look any better than my non-QLED. In fact the very noticeable corner vignetting makes it looks worse in my eyes, mine only has very slight corner vignetting that I never really noticed. I only noticed it on mine after noticing it heaps on his that I had to check mine again. The "frameless" frame is not significantly thinner than the non-QLED model too.

TBH I think the non-QLED model was a better deal (as it was only $559 last boxing day) considering the vignetting and the lack of bass/treble adjustment on the QLED model.

            • @CVonC: Thanks for your comparison. I did see your previous post and should have been more specific in my question which you have kindly described in this post in regards to the difference in picture quality. I was some sort guessing that there would be minimal to non visible differences between the two for reasons, the price when on sale is about the same and secondly i believe QLED is more marketing in general and perhaps would be more so for entry level tv's.

Similarly to like Aldi special buys, there has been quite a big variance in feedback based on different special buys probably due to different batches and what panel is sourced for those batches.

              • @JaeTee: Yeah the "QLED" really makes no difference with these cheapo TVs. Although $559 vs $699 is a big difference imo. I reckon this will probably go on sale for lower during boxing day too. And perhaps the 75" models will have bigger discounts as well. I'd be curious to know if other owners of this QLED model can also notice the corner vignetting though. It's really obvious on light backgrounds, specially white of course.

    • Also have a prado and picked mine up today. The box is very specific about not laying flat. I tried to avoid this but wasn't possible so gave up laid fully flat and drove carefully home. Once I had it out of the box I understood how little support the screen has due to its frameless design.
Interestingly its near on inpossible to fit/install the feet without laying it flat. My conclusion was always support the screen much as possible without direct pressure.

TV seems great. For $665 you cannot expect too much when the average spent must be about $1500. I too was taken back with the slow first born, but realised this was the initial boot.

      • Yeah I’m pretty impressed by it too. I ran a 4K demo video on YouTube just to try it and colours look really good. The sound is a bit iffy, but as someone who probably will game with headphones and only my younger siblings would need it for like Netflix, I don’t think it’ll be that much of an issue.

And yeah the installation was pree tough. Had to lay 2 carpets on my tile floor to set up the stands, so far no issues. Here’s hoping it lasts longer than a year.

  • Seems no stock in Victoria. Hoping it will be restocked in the sale period.

    • A few stores still has stock, the link to this deal is going to the wrong product.
Here’s the correct link Eko 65” QLED

  • I purchased this TV and the Blaupunkt soundbar. All works well, except I cannot get sound out of either when using my Humax HDR7500T. Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution please? I know the TV has a PVR but I have shows on the Humax I want to keep and watch.

    • I had to hook up separate audio leads and changed the input to auxiliary and it now works….yay.

      • Nice to know, I have an old humax kicking about and would like to keep FTA/PVR on it for the odd occasion I want feel like a dinosaur

Can I ask, I have a sound bar that supports Cec/arc. It has single hdmi port . Does this mean I can hook it up to the TV hdmi arc port (hdmi 1) while having Xbox, humax, Apple TV etc connected to other 3 hdmi ports and having audio for hdmi2-4 come from soundbar?

Still waiting for my delivery :( looks like next week then.

        • +1

I have no idea sorry. I just hooked up the audio leads that came in the box and kept pushing different buttons until something worked, lol

  • Bloody no show from big W, meant to be this arvo.. hmm

    • Yea still waiting, I don’t even have an eta I ordered online,. Just a dispatch notice yest

      • This was an in store order and apparently coming this arvo, still waiting but the day is getting on a bit

  • I bought the 55" and I'm very impressed by the colours and black levels, a previous housemate had the 65" LCD and I wouldn't buy one

    • You have a qled and you mate had a non qled?

      • Yes

        • whats the reason for not buying the 65inch?

          • @lknight: Maybe the bought one before the sale.

          • @lknight: LED not bright enough for HDR and the qled has much better blacks, contrast, colour

  • Would some be kind enough to measure how wide/deep is the stand? Site says 300mm just would like to confirm it

    • +1

Bang on 300mm. 110 from the front of the panel forward and 190 from the front backward.

      • +1

        Much appreciated it

      • Just checked. The cube storage I want to buy is 295mm deep. Only 5mm less…I was intending to put it on top.

        • The ikea Kallax ones are deeper. I have mine on top of a 4x3. It just fits lol.

  • For those on Brisbane North side that missed out stock available again - snagged one this evening.

  • Thanks for all your feedbacks so for on this TV. Loving it as it will help me decide to buy if it goes back in stock later again at end of the year.

Does anyone know if this TV can be mounted on a wall? Like using this Target TV Wall Mount?

    • +1

I can confirm it works with this wall mount: https://www.selby.com.au/tv-brackets-stands/monitor-mounts/2…
This TV weighs about as much as the old 32" I replaced, and the VESA mount easily fit in those dimensions so I took a punt.
Got 2 in a stud as well as 4 x 10kg drywall spiral anchor to help spread load - feels sturdy.
There is plenty of TV to cover up a bigger wall mounts, and I would have felt better with an extra stud.

  • If anyone sees this, there is a promo for using zip pay through Google pay (giving $30 zip credit for a purchase this large). Just bought my tv today through zip pay (google pay method) cost me a total of $669 for this TV :D

    • You can buy 2x 300 gift card for $60 discount

  • +1

Lol… The tv sound is shit as…. But the screen is so much better compare to some in $000s

    • Haven't tested, but got a soundbar now and you need one generally these days.

Probably won't bother settings up The Google sign in and apps etc, using a Chromecast with Google TV. Bit of a double up..

Just on that note, in The Google tv setup U have to select the tv brand (for The vol button control), if Eko not in The list is LG The next closest?

      • I just bought a pair of nest mini planning to pair them up as a stereo unit, g store has it for 39 each with free delivery.

        • That's not bad, i got a free one from google once, handy for the bedroom.
Good having a few voice control remotes, control devices and leave a few lying around.

Still think i need to find out the equivalent production name/tv type to get the tv power button to work with soundbar HDMI-CEC in the chromecast setup options. All works otherwise i think.

  • Got mina $640 with discount. Sold my Hisense 2017 N5 for $550. $90 extra for new tv, with warranty, bigger and better panel. I haven't tested it yet. I will come back to review it.

    • Will have to look at selling my old one once I've used this for a while. Is Market place the best these days? Electronics go alright on eBay but would be a pick up only anyway.

The picture looks great, free to air nothing that special but 4k very crisp. 1080p would look just as good or better on my Sony full HD as someone points out. Didn't play around with the picture too much except those settings in the other thread. Brightness would depend on the room is in, and hopefully independent of the other settings.

      • Marketplace is the best. Make sure to say your TV does 4k@60 on title. It helps a lot lol

        • Sorry, meant for selling my Full HD Sony Bravia (KDL-65W850C)
          Cheers,

          • @G-rig: How this TV is compared to Sony Bravia (KDL-65W850C) in terms of pic quality, sound and App browsing speed?

I found Sony's sound to be shitty, but the interface if great.

  • I've got an old 500GB portable HDD, do you guys set up as removeable or device storage?
I probably won't be recording TV that often if at all these days with on demand and streaming services.
Used to have some emulator games on that drive so suppose removable is the go?
Good having the familiar Android OS on these TVs even if they are cheaper builds.
So far so good anyway :).

ps. With the tv guide would have assumed hitting ok would select the channel and close the ETG instead of having to hitting the back button, very minor quirk

    • I connected a 3tb Seagate portable and the PVR just work.

Anyone figure out how to use Google duo on this tv? I downloaded the app, the app is there but the app cannot be "opened" the only available option is uninstall.

I also have a 65" Hisense n6 uled 4k to sell. It's a much heavier tv than Eko. Pm me if anyone is interested, less than 3yo.

  • I bought this TV today (6/12/2020). After going through the Android TV configuration, scanning of TV channels etc. I did about 3m of flicking channels then popped on a YouTube video of the great aussie outback. 3m later I just had audio and a black screen. A few off/on's and disconnecting the power….5m later of now power it seems to be working again. Interesting to see how long this lasts for.

    • Same may keep my bravia for a bit but see how long it takes to sell anyway.
Wonder if a 1y warranty gets them out of some ACL obligations? The support seemed ok as far as troubleshooting for what I saw online.
No doubt stuff is produced more cheaply these days whereas older expensive TVs should last for ages. Time will tell .
about to try running a lead and testing forza 3, was super snappy @ 1080p not sure on the settings to use now.

      • Should I be proud or ashamed to say this replaced a 1080i Pioneer plasma in one of the rooms. Just noting as it was rock solid and never missed a beat. Perhaps 15 years old.

        • I know what you mean, lured in by 4k eventually. At least more titles on Netflix & Youtube these days. Need to see what this HDR is about. Games is a whole nother thing, and looking into settings. Forza 3 @2k goes pretty good some slight splitting when browsing the forza map but otherwise crisp and responsive enough (2060 Super).

Stuff is only made to a price but fairly affordable these days and spend too much always getting the best when it's not worth anything a year or two later.

          • -1

@G-rig: DO NOT BUY EKO if you want to enjoy the full 4K HDR experience, this is very low quality, low nits and contrast ratio…. Your old Sony would be better, my high end LG from 10 years ago looks better than some of these home brand TVs…

These days they really like to mass produce these TVs cheaply for those who are technologically challenged who really don't know or care…

Just like the fact there are so many cheap phones available now for those who only want to spend $200 not $2000 on iPhone…

They have found a niche market for low end low quality cheap electronics

            • @Willco88: This is the rtings review on my old one. Good quality telly but nothing special. See reply below, for thee features I'd want in a more expensive TV I'd end up paying over 3k..

Edit: make that $4-4.5k for an LG CX OLED

              https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/w850c#:~:text=The%20S….

Not really the biggest upgrade besides 4k, hmm
For proper gaming (which I can never be bothered with) I've got a Dell s3220dgf.

  • Received the tv. Works great however there a yellowish discolouration on all corner when displaying a white image. Has anyone noticed that?

    • Get what you pay for

      • Yeah, I am aware of that and kind accept it is what it is. I can see more advantages than disadvantages in this tv

      • Yes but Sony and Samsungs are still made to a price and have to be competitive. They still wouldn't last as long as a tv from yesteryear and cost considerably more. There's no reason to pay more when the technology and features are there, as long as one does their research and hopefully doesn't get a lemon. I think it's good enough considering as soon as you buy anything it would be worth half. The main board in the sony carked it after 2.5 years btw.

Seems like a waste paying for fancy motionflow features etc when most recommend turning it all off. I applied some recommended settings to the sony ages ago so was more like those cinema presets, good for night time and dark rooms. Still great blacks.

What would you suggest as a good quality eqivalent (but not the best) Samsung, something like the Q70T? Without knowing much about them, I assume the naming is in line with their soundbars (I got a Q70T), was thinking that Q -symphony would be handy, a lot of people said it doesn't work, and didn't want to research these things for 3 months. You wouldn't Want to pay 3k and find any imperfections (even expensive TVs have poor viewing angles, vertical banding, vignette & dirty screen effect.

If I was getting something expensive, ideally I would want 120-165Hz, G-sync, low input lag etc, for hdmi gaming from the PC.

Agree Dienk, these seem to do the job nicely for the price, not sure who would pay the RRP though.
I've found the picture pretty good, 4k demo type drone vids on YouTube are clear, and tested a few movies.
A lot of content isn't that great anyway, even if the picture quality is there. I've noticed a lot of Netflix shows use that grainy filter anyway.

You can't be super critical for this price, expecting a super perfect panel. The fact they have Android TV OS is a step forward, instead of some obscure nothing UI that a lot of no name brands have. Will still test for 90 days it's possible to return with big W but should be fine hopefully.

    • You might be referring to the corner vignetting I've pointed out. Although yours is yellow where as my mate's is just darker.

      • Fair enough. Mine is very noticeable. I haven't see anyone saying that, only me and you. Thinking to take it back and swap it.

        • Any Of you guys got a pic?
I think most TV's have a slight amount of that, depends how bad or noticeable

          • @G-rig: You will take one tonight and upload here. Meanwhile I am messaging EKO. Let's test their support.

  • I am thinking to take it back to big W. I would like to grab another one (and try my luck) does anyone know if big W is easy to do that?

    • Depends if they are all like that, how bad it is or how fussy you are. Maybe a pic first, are there any good test videos on YouTube etc wouldn't mind checking mine.

Ideally I wouldn't mind an LG CX OLED, even a 55" if it's better quality as they're a lot more (2500-2700$). Usually wouldnt upgrade my old one until it stuffs up, depends if someone would pay $500 or could return this for $700, stuff all on telly most of the time haha.

      • Technically I can return within 7 days non questions must be made (big W policy). Never done such thing. I will provide further info tonight so you can compare that. many thanks

People on here were quoting 90 days but I take that as meaning you can't open it (sealable).

          • @G-rig: You are right. I haven't take a picture yet, I thought I could go to settings and calibrate it but it does not work.

I can't access the menu while I am running the Xbox. I need to go the android interface. And even when I change it there it does no apply to hdmi where Xbox is connect.

            Edit: found it. finally.

            • @Dienk: Should be able to
              - the three lines button on the remote
              - picture mode user (or whichever picture preset you want)
              - Settings (brings up the android menu)
              - Device Preferences
              - Picture. I made any necessary adjustments there, not sure what you do to 'calibrate' it. but used the settings from the other 75" thread and just adjust backlight level for night time viewing (noticed there is no auto dimming on this??)

I think the picture is pretty good for the price, could be some colour banding/rings, maybe bit saturated. My previous telly had noticeable vertical banding for some sports anyway, blacks probably a touch better. Hard when a lot of shows have the grainy filter. Hard to know but need to get rid of one of these haha.

Just need to test some games with HDMI and dial down the scaling, 2k had some tearing on scrolling around a map. 1080p was fine on the other tv.

Almost don't need the google-tv now but it's still a bit smoother I guess and has Atmos.
The Eko remote doesn't always power off the soundbar just changes to mute. in theroy dont need that remote for much and use the google one, but the sony worked (and Eko not in the list for the remote setup)

    • Very easy (90days is correct), i've bought the previous eko 55" Qled from the ebay deal $549 + shipping
back then this 65" QLED wasn't in stock or sale yet, wrapped the tv back in it's box and took it to my local BigW, took less than 15mins to process return, money back to paypal/giftcard and picked up the 65" using wish gift cards.
Yes, i did notice the 65" has the darkened corners compared to the 55" but for the price and size i can live with it.

      • Cool may we well test it out and sell either one.
Great for the price otherwise be spending 2-3k
Edit: just checked the receipt, it also confirms 90 days Change of mind

  • Well I bought one at $699, and to my surprise got a automatic $150 back through my Amex ! Nice surprise 🤣👍, I’ll get around to installing and advise quality

  • Just ordered one of these bad boys to replace two older and smaller 4k TV's, ill provide a review on saturday for those interested :)

The thing im interested to find out which i could not find any information on, does this android TV allow bluetooth pairing to speakers or does it have an Audio out ?

    • +1

You're in luck mate, just paired my Bose SoundLink Mini. It's under settings- remotes & accessories- add Bluetooth accessory.

The sync is better than I expected and better than When I tested the Chromecast Google TV.

      • Ah you are a legend ! 🤩

        • Don't know about that but it's in the normal Android settings menu.
Good thing these are using that OS instead of some obscure thing, it seems like the best new standard now!

      • I can also confirm Bluetooth audio works, paired to a Samsung HW-F751 to test but reverted back to HDMI ARC, much better than SPDIF too
