Recommend a Laptop (Acer) for High School out of These Three - Budget $700- $800

Hi

After a recent deal posted here for the website renewd.com.au, I am looking at purchasing a laptop for a high school student.

I have shortlisted these three… can you recommend any ?

Also, are these Spin 3 or Spin 5 ? I've read the fan can be loud on Spin 3, but no laptop is pefect unless you spend big !

Don't recommend Acer at all, but all those 3 are the same and specs are fine for budget basic device.

Had nothing but problems with an Acer we got for our daughter at school, would not recommend at all…..
I'd look at this Lenovo personally. Not sure if the deal/coupon is still going but not badly priced even without it.

    ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 / 14" FHD / AMD Ryzen 5 4500U / 256GB SSD / 8GB RAM (Upgradeable) / Backlit

    • Prefer a touchscreen

  • Not Acer.

  • Seems few people have had undesirable experiences with Acer.
May I ask what problems you encountered ?

    Not Acer

Can I ask why not Acer? I've had an Acer for 3 years and it's never skipped a beat, still lasts a long time off charge and no weird glitches.
HP is the brand to avoid, and the one that gets returned the most.

From what I've heard, Lenovo is the most functional "value" brand but I've had poor experiences..

    • The one we got for our daughter (forget the model but was around this same price point) would randomly turn off, need soft resetting thru the pin hole quite regularly to get it to turn back on. Tried updating everything, including the BIOS, nothing worked. Sent away for "repairs" during the holidays so she wasn't without it….came back, same problem. Wifi also drops out regularly and needs to be restarted.

We use a LOT of HP and Lenovo at work (think big mining company so thousands of them) and don't really have issues with them given how many are in use.

  • Hi just a techs experience.

I find the chassis of even cheap Lenovo's and dells to be far sturdier and more durable than Acer.

Not impressed by the plasticyness of it all

A nice E series Lenovo should do the trick.
Touch screen not really that necessary for day to day win 10.usage
