Hiding Highlighted Deals on Front Page

For those who do not wish to see highlighted deals at the top of your front page, you can now set a setting in your deal preferences.

Highlighted deals cover the discussions of a current promotion event, and is not necessarily the best deal. To hide these deals click here.

• Click on 'Preference'.
• Check the 'Do not show highlighted deals' option.
• Save Preference.

  Who decides what's a highlighted deal?

    The moderators decide as a team, usually based on several criteria such as, but not limited to:

    • The deal was popular with many votes
    • The deal was posted several days before the live date
    • There have been dupes

      Any chance Free Indoor Climbing: THE NORTH FACE Global Climbing Day - Saturday 2019/08/24 - OzBargain could be highlighted? Previously FREE Indoor Climbing: THE NORTH FACE Global Climbing Day - Saturday 18/8/18 (ACT, NSW, QLD & VIC) - OzBargain was highlighted with same number of votes.

        You could raise a report (report link on that deal) closer to the live date to make that suggestion :)

  Thank god I could turn that option off. It just looks like spam/advertising and kind of gave the appearance of a "paid promotion" even if it is "picked by the mods".

  How long has it been a thing? I have never seen it before today. Has it only just starting being utilised again? Has it just not been used in ages? Did my preferences get reset back to default?

    Highlighted deals would have happened a lot over November/December, as people kept on posting upcoming deals days in advance, forcing the moderators to schedule them to be highlighted when deals actually go live.

    I don't think we can reset the preference. The default would be showing highlighted deals.
