Not sure, I mainly play single player.
I tried maybe 12 months ago and it was rather dead. Got a couple of games but they were all overseas games :/
I played the multiplayer when it was in beta and it was pretty boring imo.
This game is known for its amazing single player though, multiplayer has been widely criticized.
They drastically changed the multiplayer in an update from what it was at release but it was too late.
For pc i can still get a match with ease but apparently the ps4 scene is virtually gone.
If I buy this, is it also playable later on ps5?
Yes, PS4 games are forwards compatible with PS5. Some enhanced, others play as PS4 titles.
This game is fantastic, I really preferred it to Eternal
I think its good for the price, but I don't want to buy it outright just for it to show up on PS Plus a few months later. Should I wait, or grab it right now?
That is always a possibility but the game is great and your money is well spent.
Plus, you can play it this weekend and enjoy it.

That's usually my methodology for stuff I think might show up on PS+.
Now that I.D/Bethesda belong to MS I'm not sure it's likely to appear on PS+ anytime soon.
Great game (only played single player), definitely worth $7.48It's $7.50, damn, just buy it. I did last time it went to this price and took maybe 15 hours or something to finish, so at 50c and hour of entertainment, take the plunge…
OP posts daily discounted game deals. You probably cannot find the PC version at 4.98 now (https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/pc/217086-doom) - sold out by now.
This is the 9th post from OP regarding Doom (2016). PC version had been cheaper consistently in the past. This game is discounted quite often. Unless you must have the PS4 version of this game now or soon, I wouldn't bother. Get it only if it is not going straight to pile of shame.
The EB games sale was great provided you could find stock. In Tassie, Doom for PC was non-existent although some other great bargains were available for consoles such as Wolfenstein, Northgard, Shadow of War.
Yes, while Doom has been this price several times now it seems to be quite stable in price - have not seen it go below certain prices points on PC or consoles (with the exception of the EB sale but as I said, very, very limited stock).I am not sure re the info for PC in a PS4 post - not everyone has a PC capable of running the game in addition to the console, therefore while the info for PC is nice it is not super useful for someone who only has a PS4 or PS5.
