Buy a Mac or an iPad for Uni and Get Bonus AirPods 2 (Or Upgrade to Airpods Pro for $150) @ Apple Education Store

3150

It was Beats last year; this year it's AirPods with selected Macs and iPads.

Save $249 when you buy a qualifying Mac or iPad. Not all Macs and iPads are included. You can even upgrade to higher priced AirPods by paying the difference.

Just like last year, the Mac or iPad will be discounted by $249 and the AirPods invoiced at full price. This is to get around not classifying the AirPods as a gift.

Not as good as the Beats last year, but this is what the UK, Canada, and the US have had this year.

Who is eligible?
A full-time or part-time student aged 18 or over with a current student union card or student identification card and studying at an accredited Australian university or other Apple-approved institution
A lecturer or staff member at an accredited Australian university; or
A teacher or lecturer working at an Apple-approved and registered education establishment within Australia.

You probably won't be asked to prove your eligibility.

Eligible Macs
MacBook Air (M1, 2020),
16-inch MacBook Pro,
21.5-inch iMac,
21-inch iMac (Retina 4K),
27.5-inch iMac (Retina 5K),
iMac Pro,
13-inch MacBook Pro (Four Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2020),
MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)

  • Ordered laptop, one month wait

  • Does anyone know if this offer is available if you traded in your old Apple gadget when purchasing an eligible product?

    • +1

It is available with trade in

  • Does JB do the holiday return policy similar to apple?

30 days unopened. If opened there is no return available

  • Damn. I just bought one iPad air 4 from JBHIFI few days. Opened and never use. What the…
is there any chance to return?

    • change of mind 30 days jb ?

      • Opened

        Change of mind Wont work

I’ve opened legit multiple laptops and they accepted it at JB (although reluctantly) lol

Was in Vic and they were cool about it but reluctant..

all my local JB's are friendly as hell abnout it

  • Ordered a mba 8Gb +512Gb and picked it up at highpoint sc (VIC) just now, no question asked :)

    • -2

already tried this - they wont do it. they checked all serial numbers prior and my friend from apple says the ones under this discount are marked specifically for this

    • It charged full price on AirPod and discount the iPad, this mean your method won’t work. It may not if even work if you return the AirPod then keep the iPad at $249 further discount, as I don’t think Apple will make such a mistake, but you may try.

  • What is the end price of the 256gb macbook pro with M1 on education?
Is it $1799 with the airpods?
Or does it come out to be less?

    Thanks

    • I'm not sure where you got $1799 from.

That machine is $1849. The final cost will be $1849. The Mac will be discounted by $249 and you will pay full price for the AirPods.

      • Also a little confused.
The base MacBook Air is $1599. I was billed $1439 and $249 (AirPods) bringing the total to $1688. Is this right?

        • +1

$1599 is the non-Edu price. $1439 is the Edu price. Assuming you placed the order correctly via Edu store, then you should have been billed $249 for the Airpods and $1190 ($1439-$249) for the MBA.

Thanks OP - bought ipad air last week online Apple Ed store. Called up physical Apple store where I collected and explained situation. They said to make an appointment (needed about 20mins in-store) for a 'closed return' and to bring in the box. All done with no fuss and reissued with new receipt with both ipad and airpods. So glad I saw this and will learn my lesson about the yearly edu freebie I had no idea about!

    • Did you keep the same iPad?

      • +1

I kept the same iPad. I called my local Apple store yesterday and they essentially said that I could refund the iPad and repurchase it to get the airpods for free. I booked an appointment and went to pick up the airpods this morning and my little sister got to wake up to a pair of airpods under her pillow

  • Anyone know when Apple stores in NSW will have stock again for MBA ? I check all stores and no stock for pick up :(

    • Head's up they are back in stock but get in quick.

    • +1

Yep, MBA appear to be back in stock. Just in time as I planned to order one today. So ordered one in the morning and My wife was able to pick it up in the afternoon. Our first MacBook after being on Windows laptops forever. Must say we quite like it. Happy days.

      • I hate to tell you but it's your wife's now.

        • Well I bought it for her so all good :)

Merged from Get AirPods Pro for $150?

So apple is currently running a promotion where if you buy an eligible Mac or Ipad, you can get free airpods. Optionally you can upgrade to airpods pro for $150.

Firstly, is this worth it? and secondly, you aren't actually striking a bargain if i fall for their marketing trick to upgrade and spend more money. It is only a bargain if you get the free airpods?

    • You already know the answer.

It is only a bargain if you get the free airpods?

Except they are not AirPods Pro.

    • I think it is worth the upgrade. I upgraded from gen 1 AirPods to the AirPods Pro, and no way am I going back.

Things that are far superior with the AirPods Pro:

      • Nose canceling. The non-Pros were close to unusable outside with noisy traffic.

      • Battery life

      • Sounds quality. The Pros have far better bass, which blows away the non-Pros. It’s not studio quality, but the lack of a seal on the non-Pros meant the bass was quite dismal.

Of course, something like the Sony and Bose headphones are better still, but they are large and bulky. I use my APP way more that my Bose NC700 simple due to their size.

The one weakness of the AirPods Pro is the microphone in a a noisy environment. You will hear the other person fine, but they may struggle to hear you.

  • Can someone who bought this confirm the receipt shows the full price of the Airpods and discounted price of the Mac/iPad?

Reason is I will be reimbursed by work for the Mac but not the Airpods so I need a receipt that shows the full price of the Mac, so I don't really want it showing the discounted Mac price :(

    Cheers

    • +1

I bought an iPad Air and AirPod Pros and yes the AirPods are shown at full price - $399 and the iPad is with a discount. So probably not good for your scenario I’m afraid

      • Thanks for the reply mate

        • The actual way it’s presented on the Apple invoice is as a $226.36 ex GST coupon and the price of the (in my case) Airpad was as a net price including that discount applied to it to reduce the standard RRP education price

          • @Bodogbodog: Thanks again, I've ordered with the Airpods anyway and will explain to the boss later :)

          • @Bodogbodog: Are both items on the same invoice?

  • -3

Has anyone tried to return the AirPods for a full refund? Since they discount the iPad/MacBook and you technically are paying for the AirPods in full as stated on the invoice.

  • Purchased one today and picked up in store. They didn't ask for my student ID at all.

  • Just used this deal and they laughed when I showed them my student ID when I picked up my new macbook and airpods. Thanks OP for posting!! :)

    • Did they actually ask to see your student ID?

      • Nope they just laughed when I wanted to show it to them.

    • When you try to buy in store they ask for it

I just bought 100 new iPads for education purposes… I wonder if there'd be a way to claim 100 Air Pods haha. If anyone can find a way I'll send you one for free!

    • +1

lol, just buy the iPads in seperate transactions and add the AirPods in the cart with them. then you will get them.
You owe me a pair of AirPods now.
      ROFL 🤣 😂

      • Well done! I hope you get one for making the effort to write that. 🤣

        • +1

          😂 lol

Does anyone know what keyboard layout options are available?

Can't seem to find that information on the site.

    • +1

I think there is only US, other languages are available but only a US layout.

    • +1

When you are on the "customising laptop" webpage, there is a heading that says "Keyboard Language".

Here is the list I got when I am on the Australian Apple shop:

      US English
      Arabic
      Chinese (Pinyin)
      Japanese
      Korean
      Thai
      British

On the Apple Support website, you can see all the different layouts:

  • For those who opted to have their macbook posted, have you actually been able to track the TNT tracking number they provide? I called TNT and the code is unrecognisable. Will contact Apple directly, but curious if anyone else has had this problem? Mine was posted 5 days ago, so it’s obviously not an issue with the parcel first appearing in their systems.

    • When I ordered my MacBook Pro from apple online store it takes a while for the tracking number to be active, only activates when it reaches Australia from China where they have to build the laptop, so it will take a little while until it activates and gets scanned in Australia. Trust me, contacted apple before

  • Can anybody confirm any non students have successfully got this?

I’m keen however don’t have a .edu address

    • Confirmed - I ordered online and picked up from an Apple store - no student ID was asked for

      • So when ordering online there’s no confirmation required on the website?

        • Correct - none required

  • Is Pro worth the extra $$$?

  • Best deal ever! Discounted ipad air AND airpod pros for only 150 bucks. Thanks!

For the ones who might not be eligible: ordered online, picked up on store, no questions asked. Even asked if they need anything else from me other than my ID and confirmation email.

    • I also ordered online and picked up in store, was only required to show my drivers license.. They actually just brought it outside to me on the footpath, saved doing COVID thing if you didn’t heed to look or do anything else inside store.
      I paid $ 829, jbhifi price for what I purchased was AirPods $229 + iPad Air 4 64gb $899 = $1128
So it is a discount of over 25%. Thanks OP

  • So how much is this iPad Air (4th generation) with this promo or deal

    • From $829 for 64gb - just click on the Deal link at the top of the post and configure what you want
      Plus the “free” AirPods

      • Thanks sorry last question but how much is it normally without this deal promotion.

        • I paid $ 829, jbhifi price for what I purchased was AirPods $229 + iPad Air 4 64gb $899 = $1128
