    Standard comments:

No this does not work on AU accounts and you cannot change AU account region to US.

Yes you can make a US account in AU on AU hardware perfectly fine.

You may run into issues purchasing/redeeming DLC on AU region games with an US account.

    • the issue being in the vast majority of cases us dlc won't work on au account games…

    • Yes you can create a US account and activate it to your PlayStation and then play online using your regular Aussie account. You can also play all of the PS Plus library you get on your US account with your Aussie account.

      • This is what i've been doing. :)

      • US PS Plus Games are better than Aussie? Or just similar?

Mostly same games, occasionally a different one pops up.

    • There's a fix for the PS DLC, you just need to enable Content and Game sharing on your accounts in the User and Accounts menu. Same applies to PS4 to PS5 upgrades.

  • Can you claim ps plus games to keep for the other link/main aussie account.?

    • Doubt it, you would need to maintain the US account to be active as they would be 2 separate accounts (AU and US)

    • that used to work, then didn't, then did again - it changes and cannot be relied on..

    • no. there is no such thing as linked account for PS+

      • I think you need to add to your library then you can switch to your other AU profile to buy dlcs and download updates.
As long as they're downloaded and you're on the plus membership, you get to keep them permanently until you delete from your console.

        • us playstation dlc and au dlc are routinely different and only work on the account they were purchased on as opposed to xbox where dlc is mostly region free….

@Bargainendorphins: I thought it was still dependent on whether the dlc could still be reactivated after doing that via the store and adding it again without buying it again?

since that doesn't always work i just don't claim you can until Sony fix content sharing properly.

              • @petry: This absolutely works 100%. No reactivation needed. If Content and Game Sharing is activated then it will be seamless.

For example, buy AC: Valhalla for PS4.
Not eligible for PS5 upgrade on main account (US)
Log in to second account (AU) and download the PS5 upgrade.

                Activate content and game sharing.

Log into to main account and you can use the PS5 upgrade, where previously it would have shown a padlock symbol.

For DLC it's much the same procedure, just need to download it on the main account. You can even try it with pre-order bonuses too. If EB Games give you a code for a preorder bonus it won't work on US account, but if you activate it on your AU account, with content and game sharing enabled, you will receive the bonuses when using the game on your US account.

Hope that makes sense. I've been burnt by these DLC region locks before, so was stoked to have this fix.

                • @Bargainendorphins: so when exactly did this 100% fix occur?

and which account did you buy creed on? does the secondary have ps plus?

and finally if you buy both the game on the secondary and the dlc, besides being able to use both on the main US account how does that prove cross dlc buying? ie US dlc on AU account and AU dlc on US?

                  • @petry: so when exactly did this 100% fix occur?

Not sure, I found it after the PS5 launch.

and which account did you buy creed on? does the secondary have ps plus?

I bought a retail copy in Australia.

and finally if you buy both the game on the secondary and the dlc, besides being able to use both on the main US account how does that prove cross dlc buying? ie US dlc on AU account and AU dlc on US?

Doesn't using the dlc on the main account, after it's bought on the second prove that? I'd urge you to try it with something free to see what I mean. Like seasonal region specific content. In my ACV example, I bought an Australian game, but couldn't get any of the preorder extras/PS5 upgrade on my US account due to the region. After going into my Australian account and downloading all I wanted, I enabled content and game sharing. Then I logged back into my US account and could access it all. I'm not saying that Sony shouldn't fix this, just saying there is a work around.

Just trying to help as region locked DLC can be very frustrating!

  • Thanks OP! Just stacked another year!

  • This is a great deal. I’m up to 5 years, I should just buy another 2 to last the entire gen. But last time I spent more than $40 on cdkeys they cancelled it because you couldn't redeem those games in Australia even though they encourage you to do that.

  • what's the max years you can stack?

  • the code actually gives you a bonus 3 months! I think this is a current Sony promo for US users.

I bought 2 of these and got 30 months. Paid via USD with 28D card to save a little bit extra.

If you're going to stack more years on, now is the time to do it. You're basically getting an extra 25% more months for free, and it's a historic low price.

    • How did you managed to get the bonus 3 months? I redeemed the code on my system and it said that there’s 2 products but at the end of the day I only got given the 12 months extension and not the 15 months extension?

      • it just told me the code contained two items and i got both

  • Did it take long to receive? Placed order this morning and nothing yet

    • I placed other yesterday and still haven't received it as well

      • +1

I sent an email to support and they got back to me with the codes which I redeemed and worked no problem.
