Using an Apple Watch on Sydney Trains

I want to pay for my train in Sydney by tapping my Apple watch… is the virtual card on the (non cellular) Apple Watch the same as on my iPhone, so can i tap on with my watch and off with my phone, or does the reader think its a different card?

Different card - you should tap on and off with the same device, don’t mix devices for the journey.

    1. Use the same card or linked device, every time
You must tap on and tap off with the same card or linked device for all your travel all week to receive the same travel benefits and rewards of an Adult Opal card.

For example, don't tap on with an iPhone and tap off with an Apple Watch, or switch between your card and linked devices throughout the week. If you do, you may be charged two maximum default fares and you will miss out on Opal benefits.

🤦‍♂️ They actually use your exact scenario on the Transport NSW website…It's just a Google search and a few clicks away…much less effort than starting a forum post and typing it all out.
