Nikon Z 6II Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Body Only $2914 Delivered @ Parramatta Cameras

80

It’s the lowest price yet. Similarly priced at Georges, no doubt more retailers will follow suite, which indicates Nikon is discounting them or a price adjustment. What a coincidence given that Sony announced A1 just a couple of days ago, while Z6 is not competing with A1, but new product release further cements Sony’s leadership.

I am hanging out until it gets to the $2500 mark. (ie once they clear the old z6 inventory I can see that being the price for the Z6ii)
In regards to Sony's leadership.. the A1 looks a cool camera but at $10k its not going to be for many people. Sony might have the best AF but they also have the worst colour science of the 3 main brands.. I shoot Nikon and Sony and much prefer the Nikon files to edit with.

    • What Sony, out of curiosity? I just moved to Sony (A7III) having previously shot Canon, and whilst there was the usual learning curve that processing files from any new camera has, i haven't found the colours to be problematic, just a little different to what I was used to, but I was quickly able to work out how to get similar end results. I was down between the A7III, Pana S5 and the Z6II, and the S5 got knocked out due to AF, the Nikon due to the currently limited lens range, and considering i have heavy video-skewed requirements, the Sony was actually the weakest, but the ecosystem, solid and affordable range of glass and the hope that an A7IV will properly fit the bill, was what got me to Sony. (Plus a7III's being cheap as hell for what they are helped).

    • It's not so much about buying the A1, it just shows that Sony has the technology to do it, and eventually some features will filter down to consumer models.

I too shot Nikon for a long time, and have been debating if I should go mirrorless since the release of Z6, and I do think that the Z-mount is a more superior design, but probably not going to benefit average consumers.

  • I would like to stick to Nikon due to the quality as well as their lenses, although the current z bodies were not the most competitive ones in the market.

There is still about $1000 of the price difference between gen 1 and gen 2 z6, or at this best price yet z6, you would probably get a grey market z7 gen 1, so really, not sure which to go. For me, maybe wait till the z6 vmk1 became really cheap and get one to have a try.

    • I think my Australian z7 cost actually around this price, after factoring around in cashback and lens bonuses etc. That was before COVID started driving prices up though.

That sounds like a great deal! I think currently the Australian Z7 gen 1 would still be near $4000, about same price as D850. And I thought in the past it was always more expensive than the D850.

You are spot on.. 2 years ago I paid $3200 for my Z7. These cameras have all gone up in price significantly over the last 2 years.

Do I love my Z7? 200% yes……… It was a huge upgrade to my D800 in weight and picture quality..

        • Yeah I think after factoring in the bonuses that came with it it cost me around 2.9 or 3.2 K. To get that price it would have also been during a sale plus 20 % off eBay plus code or something.
