Razer BlackWidow Chroma Green Switch Mechanical Gaming Keyboard $106.46 + Delivery (Free with Prime) @ Amazon US via AU

70

Was looking for a mech keyboard for work and came across this.
Proves to be quite popular according to past post and this is cheaper.
I'm looking for something for a more professional setting (silent) if anyone has suggestion. Hope this helps someone

I've got this and the Elite. Personally would recommend spending $40 more for the Elite, just for the media buttons and USB port.

    • With the Elite I can't see any dedicated macro keys but does it support them and if so how is it? I am used to my G110/G510 and setting them up for my dedicated keys.

    • looking for a mechanical keyboard that isn't too noisy when typing.. would this fit the bill or is it a bit noisy when typing?

Razer Green switches are the equivalent of Cherry MX Blue switches, so on the noisier end of the spectrum. Personally they feel great when typing, but they are louder. Not recommended for offices.

Orange or Yellow Razer switches would be better if you're looking for a quieter experience.

Not to be confused with the Elite.

The Razer BlackWidow Elite is much better than the Razer BlackWidow. The Elite is available in three different switches, so you can get the ones you prefer, it has a wrist rest, it's better-built, it has a USB passthrough, and it has dedicated media keys.

You can get the Elite for $149 from Amazon US via AU.

Strongly recommend the Elite version. Due to wrist rest and media keys, it gives so much comfort. I got yellow switches, sound is a bit weird. It feels like typing on a "wooden" keyboard. Typing speed is excellent, you can hit 3 or more times in a sec. Great for gaming.

If you're looking for something professional-looking and quiet for an office setting I would recommend one of these Leopolds from Mwave, or shop around for a deal if you can find one. They're a bit more than this ($159 for the TLK version or $169 for full size), but they don't obviously jump out as gaming keyboards and don't have RGB or anything. Depends how much attention you want to draw at work.

In general I would say whichever keyboard you get, you should look at the Cherry MX Silent Red switches for an office environment as they are easily the most subtle sounding of the Cherry range and I've found them entirely acceptable. There is also a Silent Black option, but these are a bit heavier than the Reds.

  • I have the blackwidow elite and am using it in an office setting and whilst it's ok noise wise for my office I could see it being too loud for others. Green switches would be way too loud IMO. I guess it will depend on your work environment whether a mech would be too loud or not.

  • It's dropped further to - $106.46

  • bought this one on prime day last Nov. the sound of this mechanic key stroke is nice.

the key came of in the box when I received it, it may due to the transport. anyway I did put it back.

the only issue is that the spring of the key is a bit strong. I pressed shift key a lot in game so my baby finger got hurting. then I have to switch back to the normal cynosa gaming keyboard with no issues.
