Tyre for a Mountain Bike, Does Different ETRTO Work?

Hi,

Need to replace tyres on my bike and the current size of tyre is 29 x 2.10 54-622.

Saw this tyre on Pushy's https://www.pushys.com.au/maxxis-crossmark-29x2-10-mtb-tyre.…. The ETRTO says 52-622. Would this fit on my current bike?

Thanks

29 (inches) is wheel size / (outside) diameter and 2.10 (inches) is tyre width.

You're getting the same sized replacement tyre based on your provided specs.

54-622 is 54mm tyre width and 622mm inner tyre diameter.

    • Sorry, a typo. The pushys one is 52-622.

Yes, I just checked the listing after the unusual post and also saw 52mm (52-622). It'll be fine.

The rim / wheel width can influence the profile of the tyre when inflated. A 2mm difference won't make a big impact on the profile of the tyre.

        • Thanks a lot.

ETRTO is xx-yyy format where the tyre width is xx in mm and the inner diameter of tyre is yyy in mm.

yyy must match your rim diameter. xx can pretty much be anything within reason. On a mountain bike probably from 25-60mm

Old school 29” diameter relates to the outer diameter of the tyre, which changes with the tyre width, so a 29x2.1” tyre has a different diameter to a 29x2.5”, despite suiting the same rim diameter (622mm). Its an old school system before they standardised rim sizes and the overall diameter of the tyre made a difference to single speed gearing.
