Disclaimer: Picture quality and sound are pretty good but the ui seems to lag a bit I believe this has something to do with the firmware from other posts.

  • What happened to the good old 20% off TGG eBay store sales?
    Do they still happen?

    • The ones where the prices were jacked 20% pre-sale?

  • no 65" deals for the living room??

  • I will wait for this model to go below $800.

  • This or Hisense Q8 55"?

    • I considered the Hisense against this and it was a hard decision. The Hisense has a FALD screen so it's likely has a better overall image if that is your primary concern whereas the c815 has edge lighting.
I choice the c815 as a small secondary tv for playing video games because the reviews (scarse as they are) were quite good. The android operating system has good support and is familiar to me but more importantly others in my household, and it has relatively low lag for gaming as well as Dolby vision, HDR+ support and a nice soundbar attached to it.
I've had it about 3 months and use it mainly for gaming.
I decided against spending more on a HDMI 2.1 supported tv e.g. Sony x900h because it became apparent Sony had botched the TV's support and there seem to be ongoing issues with the promised ALLM and VRR support.

      • Thanks, I didn't know this TCL model, went to JB to have a look on Q8, last weekend saw C715 at Costco very impreesed about picture quality. Must find a store have Q8 and C815 to compare.

        • The GoodGuys stock both I think.
I suspect that there is not a dramatic difference between the C715 and the C815, the C815 just has a few extra features.

  • how is this compare to LG UN7300 or Samsung TU8000?

    • It's difficult to say because there are not any direct comparisons of these models online.
I spent some time trying to compare the models you refer to with the C815 and got the C815 in the end for the reasons discussed above.
IMO the Hisense Q8 is the only better deal in this price range.
As mentioned in my comment above, the integrated sound bar is a good addition.
If I recall correctly the format support is better on the C815 which is the only of these three that has Dolby Vision support.
I like android operating system but not everyone does.

    • this wins hands down, you are comparing this which is qled vs lg which is shitty ips vs the average led which is samsung.
