Ryzen 5 3500X | RTX 3060 12GB Gaming PC [B550M Gaming/16GB 3200/250NVME/650B]: $1298 + Delivery @ TechFast

Hi folks
Launch day for RTX 3060 12GB. Reviews seem to be pretty good, especially given the comparative jump from RTX 2060 into 1440P gaming, the base price we're hitting and shortage of other cards on the market.

AMD Ryzen 5 3500X | RTX 3060 12GB Gaming PC: $1298 after 3500X-3060-MAR

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3500X 6c/6t processor
  • NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB graphics card [Dual Fan models used as bundled card - upgrades to 3 fan MSI and Gigabyte cards available]
  • Gigabyte B550M Gaming MATX motherboard [MSI X570-A Pro and Gigabyte Aorus Elite/Asus Tuf X570 WiFi upgrades available - mention which you prefer in Notes field and we'll do our best to accommodate]
  • 16GB 3200MHz RAM (2x8, brand/model may vary)
  • 250GB NVME m.2 SSD (upgrades available)
  • Gigabyte P650B 650W 80 Plus PSU
  • MSI MAG Vampiric or MAG Forge 100R case (The Vampiric won't fit a 240mm liquid cooler and 3-fan card so choose the Forge if you're after that combo)

The cards are with us and these systems will start to ship once we clear the orders from below deals, should be around the 14 business day mark.

Shipping Updates:
- TA 3600/3070 deal - we've shipped large numbers of the orders from this deal and are still making our way through them, so yep have some catching up to do but working as fast as possible on these. More will ship today and continue to ship next week - hang in there for those as we work through them.
- Feb 3080 orders - waiting on dispatch notification on these - both information and stock is starting to flow on other models so 3080s should be in the same situation
- 1660 Supers - suppliers' ETA early Feb for these to come in. Customers are being emailed with ETAs/options.

  • Strange how they launch a 3060 with 12gb yet most 3080 cards are 10gb.

Can someone with more knowledge explain this to me?

    • +1

It has more VRAM but less bandwidth than the 3060 Ti. So the performance is lower than 3060 Ti in keeping with the normal performance tier of "vanilla model" then "Ti" or "Super" model.

    • purely for marketing, Its also rumored that all AMD RDNA2 cards will offer 10gb at the minimum

    • 3060 is just on par with 2060 SUPER, which is significantly slower than 3060Ti.
12GB VRAM may benefit some video editing workflow but nothing to do with gaming within its GPU core capability.

  • +1

I don't understand this card and its pricing. Decent system, but I think the nicer cases are wasted in this price tier.

Never thought I'd say it, but this should have a lance v and biostar mobo to make it a bit more appealing in the budget end if the price could be reduced.

I'd go for the 3070 deal while you still can, it's far better VFM than this.

    • They wouldn't shave all that much tbh. At generational launch we tend to do a comparatively higher spec model, then a budget offering a little later, assuming supply holds. The lower the tier, the less room for budgetising a build there is.

      • Assuming that the price of the 3060 managed to go back to closer to msrp, do you think it's possible to make a sub 1k build with cheaper parts?

        • +1

This is basically a $600gpu in this build as sold im sure they could cheap out on all the other components and bring it to 1k but what you get will be generic psu + generic case + biostar mb + bottom tier cpu + 8gb ram and then people will just complain about them components.

          • @XiTaU: I'm a noob to high end gaming. Do those parts, aside from the 8gb ram, matter that much? It's
If all I'm doing is gaming, and 1080p video editing, how much do these branded parts and a cpu matter?

            • @Wonderfool: To some people, a lot. To some people, not at all. Therein lies the secret.

            • @Wonderfool: At 1080p a mid tier CPU is really important to get good performance from your GPU. Ideally you want a 6 core 12 threaded cpu for current gen gaming next we have generic psu's which can fail and fry the majority of the parts in your pc which is also a no no in my books. As for most other generic parts they are not such a huge deal to your entry level user but sometimes its better to just pay a bit more for the piece of mind.

      • Fair enough, cheers for the reply Luke! :)

Still progressing through the arse crushing 3600 3070 systems? I've got an order in for one of those placed on the 5th. Still no word but assuming its close!!

        • Yes indeed - ordered on the 5th yours would be in build now along with the majority of others, and nearing completion - there are a big number of systems in various stages of build, testing, repair, packing etc so it will take some time, but we will get through them all as we always do!

  • +1

    Isn't 3060 a big let down?

  • Hi Luke,
I bought an Amd 3080 deal on Feb 1st and just read the restrictions on 3 fan cards and 240mm coolers in the Vampiric case on this deal. I chose the Vampiric case, galax 3080, 5900x & 240mm cooler. so does this mean everyone who did similar will receive the 100r forge case?

  • +2

    so much for 329 usd/ 420aud for MSRP of 3060 eh? ;)

  • +1

Why does this deal have a better motherboard and case then the higher priced 3070 build? Wouldn't it make better sense to go for that deal instead with the better GPU and processor?

    • -1

Intel x amd, you are not comparing same thing

  • Hi Luke,
Just want to follow up on my order 2 weeks ago, TF143642631, please.

  • when can i expect the delivery date?

    • It's an estimate of 14 business days from the order date to shipment date.

  • So 3060 vs 1660 Super…..how much difference in the real world?

    • tree fiddy

    • techpowerup normally has a decent and reliable comparison for things like this
very roughly speaking, 1660s is about 70% of the performance at 1080p

  • Dumb question, I am looking for a general purpose (mainly programming) pc. Would this configuration support 2 4K screens at 60 hz.

    • Yes for word processing, no for gaming

    • The Raspberry pi can do this.

  • @luketechfast I am looking at your site from mobile and the screen does not scroll, totally unusable. Safari iPhone-11

    • -3

Yeah their website is terrible from a mobile. I don’t buy computers from businesses without a proper website!

  • +1

Any chance of getting a 3070 deal with a case that isnt RGB? These RGB cases dont have any WAFso its hard for some of us to get in on the action.

    • WAF? Many cases you can disable the RGB by holding down a button, apparently. Not my thing either.

      • Wife approval factor. I'm aware you can turn them off but still not everyone is into big exposed air vents and space ship designs. Basically a less out there case option would be great (eg BeQuiet! brand style case)

  • +1

I keep liking these tech fast posts but can't buy because there's no space at home and busy with the baby. I'm so jealous of u guys who are buying at this price!

  • ordered an i7 system with a ton of upgrades.

slept on it and compared prices if I were to buy the components individually.

cheaper to buy prebuilt with these guys + guaranteed rtx at a fairly reasonable price during these times.

  • sorry for the christian out there, but i am gonna say luke is our jesus atm.

    • but did you buy?

  • +5

What does the 3080 update mean realistically(timeframe wise)? The previous post stated shipping late February but we are in march now, and they haven't been dispatched from the factory yet right?

    • My brother in law (who place the order for me) got an email stated there is still no word on the 3080 gpu's. They give options to wait, get the PC build shipped and the gpu will be shipped later once it arrives, or cancel the order but note prices have increase. they did mention there isn't really an option to upgrade/downgrade as there just isn't any available GPU's. I am getting the PC built and shipped without the GPU.

  • Hey OP, is this deal still current? I tried to use the code and it said 'Warning: Coupon is either invalid, expired or reached it's usage limit!'

    • +1

Thanks for the heads up - we swapped websites overnight so a few teething issues - check again now? It worked for me.

      • cheers. working for me now too.

  • So sad the 3070 is expired. Finally got the green light from the boss :(

  • Hey Luke, sent you a PM thanks :)

  • For anyone who tried the code and found it expired, it's back up for another few units but be quick.

  • Luke, what brand/model of 1TB m.2 NVME ssd do you use? Thinking of upgrading the default 250gb.

    • We're using a few, from Crucial, Lexar, Team. It will vary depending when the build comes through pick and assembly.

  • Bruh the code is gone remove this deal

    • It's still working.

  • +1

    Hi @luketechfast

Very close to laying down the hard earned for this build. Main usage will be 4K video editing with DaVinci Resolve, and maybe a bit of gaming, so the RTX 3060 12GB should suit well.

Only sticking point is requirement for a silent as possible PC, and absolutely no need for RGB light nor perspex window.
Something towards the "be quiet!" cases, 140mm silent wings fans, one of the Corsair RM750x 80+ Gold Modular ATX PSU's which apparently only spins fans when needed.

What are the options or recommendations in this regard?

    • +2

A bit too specific for what I can offer unfortunately. If you want those parts you'll need to sub them in post purchase as part customisation doesn't extend that far.

  • Any idea how long this code is gonna last me and my friend wanna get this but we gotta sell some stuff first?

    • A handful of unit allocation left on this particular deal at the moment.

      • -1

any idea how many that is?

        • I've just enabled some more, according to stock as it comes in

  • +1

Hey @luketechfast ordered this deal two weeks ago and I was looking to grab one of those samsung 870 evo's on sale right now. Would I be able to add them onto this build? and are the cables required to do so included with the purchase?

    • Yep, you can add extra drives into the build and additional sata cables and screws will be provided.

  • Hey Luke, I was about to order this build today but the coupon code doesn't seem to be working anymore. Is it too late to order?

    • I've enabled some more coupons, just watching stock as it comes in

      • +1

        Thanks mate. Ordered!

  • Any estimates when the 3060ti builds will be in stock again? I couldn't get the ones in January cause at that time I had no munneh.

    • +2

Now you have the munneh but nobody got the kardz…

No ETA for a deal at this stage sorry

  • @luketechfast Any chance we can switch out the GPU on this to a 3060 TI?

    • +2

None on hand or ETA for more at this stage!

  • +2

Any ETA on the next Ryzen/RTX3070 deal?

    • Same as 3060Ti, no visibility on our next allocation as yet.

  • +1

got my order today. Thanks Luke. Testing once i finish work.

  • If you don't need to use ray tracing the 5700XT might be a better option over the RTX3600.

    • You can say that but you cant get a 5700xt for a reasonable price so it doesnt matter.

      • You can't really get the 3060 either. Might be able to find a 5700xt used.

        • Used 5700xt's are selling over $1000 and this whole system is $1300 so its not really a recommendation to the people buying.

  • -1

If someone is buying just for the GPU, will buy the rest of the system off you (for the right price). Would prefer pickup in Brisbane area. Pm me.

  • +1

Anyone else getting long fulfilment times and zero responses from techfast? Starting to get concerned.

    • 3070 deal was before this and still waiting…. I wouldn't be concerned. Judging from past deals they go radio quiet before they send out a large bulk of the orders. Expect word early next week imo.

      • Just Received today my 3060 system

      • Was yours one of the Arsecrusher ones from Feb?

        • Nah the i5 deal around feb 23

  • Hey Luke, send a PM about my order. Thanks

  • I want a $1000 rtx 3060 build soon. Or a $800 rtx 2060 build, is that possible?

    • i doubt it unless they make the pc worse but just get this one it's legit just $1300 such a deal

    • +1

  • Any upcoming deals on RX6800 or RX6800XT builds?

    • +1

      Zero avails rn

      • +1

Not a good time to be in the market it seems.
I’ll have to survive on my GTX1060 for now

        • +3

Not a good time to be in the business of selling them either!

        • i just sold mine for 400AUD…considering i bought it for 300 AUD 4 years ago…

  • Hi Luke. I heard you're the person to contact if I can't get through on the website.

I've recently purchased the above build, however I forgot to click unassembled when I placed my order. How can I go about fixing my order? I've sent a message to support but I haven't heard back from them since I sent it on Friday.

    • We migrated email servers over the weekend so the team is catching up but it may have been overlooked. Getting it sorted for Unassembled is an easy fix, I'll just need your order number - you can either send here or send another email.

      • I've gone ahead and sent another email to support but I'll also send it here. My invoice number is TF4612162631.

        Thank you!
