Bought one of these last year for $56 which I thought was good value as works as advertised. Brilliant deal with coupon as almost half retail. Pretty new at posting so any changes needed please tell me.

  Ok so there have been a couple of times where we've left a door or something open on the car when parked in our garage and we've run the battery flat, and then I need to position the other car close enough to be able to jump start the first, which is a pain in the limited space.
  Am I better off getting this or the $80 jump starting version ?
  Given that I generally can leave the car for a while to charge ( I.e. don't need it started straight away and safe enough in the garage), I'm thinking this is the cheaper better option i.e. I charge the flat battery for a few hours in the garage and then the car is ready to go.

    Really it's good to have both. If you're at home a higher amperage charger left for 10 or 15 mins can be enough to get the car started and let the alternator finish the job on the drive. It's not a bad idea to leave a smart charger on it once in a while to give a good charge too.

    However the charger here is only 2A, designed more so for batteries that will not be used very often, just to keep it topped up.
    You'd be better off looking at something bigger like the one linked in the comment above.

    Obviously if you're out an about with a flat battery the jump starter is what you want to have in your car. While it will do the job at home too, keep in mind the batteries won't last forever and each jump start will reduce the battery life bit by bit.

      Thanks for the info. I'm going to look into getting the 6amp version then.
      Seems worth it for the smart functions and a bonus that I can charge up the car at home if/ when we run it flat again.

  Thanks, I just grabbed the 6 amp model.
  I've got prime and used the code and it came to $45.49 shipped.

  I've been waiting on the Ctek MXS 5.0 smart charger to come on special but jumped on this instead at around half the price of the Ctek.

  One question I have to ask though is can you leave your car battery connected whilst charging like you can with the Ctek MXS 5.0 charger? I've read all the reviews and gone over all the specs on the Amazon page, but it's not mentioned anywhere.
