Afterpay Posts All Legit Deals?

Are the current Afterpay posts actual deals outside of the Afterpay discount?

Seems like everything on ebay is getting listed just because of the Afterpay discount and could come under one post.

      Reasonable question I thought.

      • Yeah it looked like an eBay catalogue today. As opposed to the Amazon Catalog on other days. Not as exciting as it used to be.

If they were all in one post, how would people upvote the better deals?

It would also be more difficult to keep track of the better deals as email front-page notifications would not work.

    • Thanks, true re alerts.

  • Have you guys heard of afterpay?!?! It's like sooooo good. I'm going to name my second child Afterpay so Bitcoin will have a little sibling to play with.

I don't care for afterpay, but I do care for deals.

      • Love a bargain :-D

Want to hide all the Afterpay posts

  • Does anybody know if the merchants are wearing the 20% discount or is AfterPay paying the merchant the difference?

    • Maybe split between Afterpay, eBay and the merchant. Surely none would cop the lot.

      • A lot of people aren't even paying using Afterpay … so that's nice of Afterpay to contribute to our purchases ;)

        • And the Afterpay code still gives you the 20% off ?

          • @scottb721: sure. that's what a lot are doing, select afterpay, enter code, then use discounted ebay gift cards to bring the balance to zero owing and complete the purchase.

I'd like to know what the actual cost to the customer of using Afterpay is, and how easy it is to miss a payment or otherwise incur fees. It's not a deal if you end up paying more in the long run. In any case the last thing Aussies need is more debt!

It certainly feels like OzB is becoming a site for shilling Afterpay rather than posting deals.

    • I use Latitude Pay for the $20 vouchers then just do a bulk payment. Can only only cop a fee if your weekly payment is rejected when they debit you. Payments being weekly might catch people out eg short of cash just before (fortnightly) payday.

      • I caved and bought something on an Afterpay deal and it has been misdelivered (wrong address). Afterpay is very clear that they don't provide the same protections as Paypal. Looks like I stuffed up. Seller has lots of positive and literally no negative feedback so will be interesting to see how this plays out, but I could be stuffed.
