always, so may be worth your time to wait and see when they update edu store as well

    • As the post said the prices listed are all before the extra $500 discount plus whatever Samsung will give you for your trade.

  • Do we need to return the charger and cable or only the phone?

  • Wondering which model has dual sim.

    • none of the australian model

      • +1

they do, but one of them is e-sim only.

        • i know that one but that is a different approach to the traditional dual sim models which can only be grey import. samsung did the dual sim model quite well, the sims sit on each side of the tray instead of side by side.

  • Has the edu store also been discounted?

  • With the trade-in service, do we have 7-days from when we process the order or from the day we receive the new phone?

    • +1

I ordered S21 256GB from EPP on 23/3 and received the phone on 24/3 morning.

      Sydney here.

      • thats fantastic speeds. i doubt i'd get it that quick in Melbourne but my issue is moreso i was gonna trade in mums S8 and give her my S10+…just better trade value and Android support that way.

        • +1

I ordered S21+ from Gov site yesterday, and its getting delivered to Melbourne today via startrack , so definitely just 1 business day.

          • @demoiree: oh awesome.. what was your end factor? i honestly cant pick between the Ultra or 21+..both looking at 256gb..idk if i would use the extra camera features if im gonna be real but the slightly larger battery and 1440p screen…idk

            • +1

@ExtraSalt: price was the factor , on the gov site , the S21+ 256GB silver was on special , base price $1149 - 300(trade in bonus) - 50(email subscription) - 125(trading in my note 8)

so out of pocket for me is $674

the only pity part is that the S21+ only has a FHD screen…where the S10+ has a WQHD screen…

              • @demoiree: damn yeah, i would've had no issue with that deal at all lol.

            • +1

@ExtraSalt: I would stick with the normal S21, not even the +. The ultra doesn't have enough difference to justify the price. With this price you can buy an S21 and a very good mid-range phone.

    • +1

7 days from when you receive the new phone.

"Once you receive your new Samsung device, you will have 7 days to return your device at an Australian Post Office or you may be charged a non-return fee of $70." (from the trade-in email)

      • why is it $70? is it the value of your phone when you trade-in?

        • Yeah, that's my trade in value for my S8. Not sure if they charge me $70 or $570 if I lose my phone, but I'm not willing to try and find out.

      • So if you lose the phone before trade in they just charge 70 bucks?

      • So potentially could just claim the $500 and say you "lost the phone" and only get charged the non-return fee?

  • Ordered S21 Ultra 512gb for $2149 yesterday and still hasn't shipped (despite claiming orders before 2PM would). Any chance of a discount or credit?

    • Don't hold your breath re discount or credit. Plan to return (unopened) and reorder. Though may as well try your luck with Support to potentially avoid the hassle

      • +1

Called support, they wouldn't do a refund or store credit. Can't be bothered returning and waiting for a refund so I'll just take a loss on this one. Will last me a couple years anyway so not too concerned (Had S8+ and now with S10+).

        • Does the Ultra qualify for this offer?

          • @AussieDaddy: Yes paid $2149, now $1899

            • @mateoka: Damn, man. That sucks. I also have S10+, but $1899 is still too much for me. Would rather wait another year before I pull the trigger on a phone for that amount after discount.

    • I spoke with their online chat just then to see if they can credit the difference for me because the current price turns out $100 cheaper than when I bought my S21 2 days ago from the education store. Unfortunately, seems like they can't do a refund for me because I've already opened the box and started using the device.

You'll need to return it (if it's already been shipped) under their change of mind policy and repurchase because when you purchased it was before this promotion started. Alternatively, you might be able to check with them if it's been shipped yet and if not, maybe you might be able to just cancel your initial order and put another one through.

They also told me the prices for this post started today and ends on 8th of April.

      • Problem with returns is will the trade up code work on the new purchase? I'm guessing no because it was already used on the phone that was first purchased and returned

        • Yeah probably best to speak with their Support first. I imagine they can work something out because if you return the phone, there's technically no trade up happening. Unless they want you to be without a phone?

          • @Pepe1234: but just like their "we can't refund the difference" they could say "sorry we can't regenerate a new tradup up code" so just seems like a headache to me to save a hundred or so bucks. so in the end you could end up losing more.

    • I've spent a bit of time complaining this morning (purchased a couple of hours before the price drop). Haven't got anywhere so far.

Their suggestion was to cancel the order (which I couldn't because it had moved through to "ready for dispatch"), and then re-place the order. Minus the trade-in discount and $50 sign-up discount, because they had been used already and they wouldn't reinstate those vouchers. They didn't seem to understand that that wasn't a solution.

Then they suggested the same thing, but to reject the first order when it arrived. Ignoring the fact that that STILL doesn't work, because of the trade-in/discount voucher issue as above. Not to mention the riskyness of being forced to pay for two orders, plus having to pay for both orders upfront and then hoping that one gets refunded.

I've escalated it, but i'm really not expecting much.

Edit: Turns out you can uninstall the trade-up app and reinstall and it will give you a different trade-in code. Still a massive hassle for something they could fix internally.

  • Does anybody have experience with the S21? How is it? I've got an S10+ that I've had for a few years and I'm starting to think about upgrading. S21 was way too expensive at launch, but this pricing is getting closer to something I'd consider. I read a few complaints online about the S21 supposedly getting very hot - is that a common / serious issue?

    • +2

I've got a base version S21, it's much better now - but still has me worried. Camera does heat up the phone, I think further firmware updates will fix it, but if you haven't bought in - maybe just wait until you get confirmation that the issues are put to rest.

    • +2

Had the S21 ultra since launch, way better battery life than the S20 it replaced and haven't had my phone get "hot".

If you are thinking about upgrading there isn't anything to worry about with the S21 series.

    • +2

Get the plus, base models don't have good battery life

    • i got my s21 this monday, have been enjoying it, such an amazing upgrade from huawei P9

  • What is the oldest phone with a trade value? I have an s6 edge+ but will have to load stock firmware to get a trade-id.

    • +1

      s6 edge+ 32gb $5

      s6 edge+ 32gb $10

  • +1

its still 999 at the education store, price discounted from 1249 for the 128gb S21. just got mine on monday.

  • Is this available in store? Keen on trading in my wife's S8 to upgrade to an S21

    • im planning to do the same. Trade in the S8 sitting in my drawer and then selling my S10+ and possibly getting the S21 Ultra 256gb

    • Yes, it's actually easier in store.

      • Did they give you the bonus credit in store? I was going to try but the the fine print on the trade-up page says "An extra $500 will be deducted, in addition to the standard trade in amount for the relevant device as quoted ( samsung.com/au/tradeup ). Only on the Samsung Online Store."

        • Sorry for not being clear, at the store they will just assess your device and give you the code. You will then have to use the code online. The app on my device wasn't working properly, so I had to go to the store to do it.

          • @DontNeedThis: Will they retrieve your old phone and give the redeem code to you on the spot? Or do you still have to return your old phone by using post service?

            • @bruce1202: No, they will retrieve it there, but not all Samsung stores do that. May I ask why you're not doing it online? Is it for the trip to the store?

              • @DontNeedThis: I do not fully trust post service since they may potentially damage the parcel. Also, I do not know if the shop in Syd CBD is able to retrieve the phone device onsite.

Mehhh trade in some phone to get a phone to do the same things with, except also be $1000 poorer. High end phone market is a fools game.

  • Anyone know how to get the $50 voucher on email sign up? I don't get the popup

      • Appreciated

        • But a lot of people didn't receive it and I only received one from several email addresses.

          • @superforever: Bugger, just tried 4 email addresses - no luck yet

          • @superforever: If not received after 48 hours, email them -> [email protected]

I tried on 2 emails, both did not receive. Emailed them and received within 24 hours.

            • @Miyagi: yea what Miyagi said. They emailed me back with the code within 24hrs aswell. IIRC they mentioned that their promotion emails seem to get blocked by alot of emailing services lol.

              • @Pepe1234: Also note the codes are not tied to specific accounts. I've bought 2 devices from EPP, both using a $50 discount code.

    • +3

Don't bother signing up you won't get it. Just email [email protected] saying you never got it and they'll send you one within a day

      • Thanks for the heads up - have just tried this route

      • I also no reply from email

  • I tried the trade in app but since I had my battery replaced at one of those mall kiosks, my phone is no longer eligible.

    • Just wondering did the app found out?

      • No it didn't but you had to answer questions in the app. If you lie however, they can decline your trade in when they get it posted in to them and you also get charged a fee.

read: our phone isn't selling very well. Please buy it.

This is a phone that asks for more and gives you less. Plastic case, less storage, no dual sim cards, no charger, no headphones, but higher sticker price. Who is surprised that samsung themselves are discounting the product?

Get the Galaxy S21 5G from only $434 with trade-in²

I like the gall here. Sounds good, $434 after trade in? Those numbers assume you are trading in the very latest flagship with top range configuration, and you are going for the basic entry level S21 with an inferior screen. They offered me $245 for my S10+ 512GB, which by the way has double the storage of their top S21 model and it's a 2 year old phone. Yeah, no thanks.

This is samsung's hubris. I hope they come back strong next year, because I was due for a new phone and decided to skip the S series this year and use my old phone off contract for another year.

Correction: Apparently they do offer a 512GB model.

    • Don’t understand why it doesn’t have 2 physical sim slots.

      • I think in Aus the Telcos don't want it as it opens the phone to competitor carriers so it is not driven by Samsung I believe.

    • I totally agree with you. I actually think, if things go this way, there's no need to upgrade a S10+ till 2023. Unless you're a techhead.
I, too, have S10+ but since I cracked the screen, I thought I might as well do the trade in.

      • I have an s10 and the battery is garbage. Other than that phone is fine. Maybe its just smarter to buy a battery pack

    • They offered me $245 for my S10+ 512GB

Agreed, these rates (profanity) suck. My phone is worth double their trade in rate and I wouldn't have to pay at their RRP.

  • So until when will the trade-in bonus stay?

  • Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment

    • Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment

As mentioned in the last deal, you have to enter your credit card details in the app first before the code will work online.

      • Ok thanks, didn’t see last deal and guess Samsung haven’t fixed this bug. How hard would it be to even change the error to say this.

        • How hard would it be to even change the error to say this.

Don't know, I found this out from online chat with support.

  • +1

    Thanks OP
Traded in the S8 for $570 and snagged the Ultra!

  • Standard S21 256 GB out of stock for me.

    • +1

Wait they will back in stock just like two days ago

  • guess its a hard sale on these s21s

Still crap Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888.
Very tempted by the 500$ trade though.

    • +2

Yes but S series camera is good especially Ultra.

      • +1

The problem is less the performance this generation but the heat. Exynos 2100 is about as fast as Snapdragon 888 and the battery life is about the same, but the Exynos still runs 10-20C hotter than Snapdragon which is very bad for battery longevity. After a year you would notice difference in battery.

    • The Exynos is not bad this year.

    • Here we go again same shit comments again about Exynos and sd

  • This trade-in program logic is basically.

if the phone doesn't turn on / charge: no deal
~2 years old phone: your phone worth $200-$300 or if any issues other than above, $15
2~5 years old phone: your phone worth <$100 or $0 if any issues
5+ years old phone: your phone is not eligible

    • I think you should add the word "flagship". They don't accept midrange phones except a few new A series models.

      • iPhone SE (2016) is accepted. That's not flagship…

        • iphone Se was one of the most expensive phones of its time.

        • if you try the trade up app on the 2016 SE it wont complete the gyro test.. so though their online page says they accept it you physically cant complete the test on the trade in app, so they dont actually accept it.. i found that out the hard way :(

      • Oppo Reno z was accepted. I got $90 for it. That's not a flagship phone.
