15% off BCF (Was 10%) eGift Cards + up to 7% Cashback @ Reward Gateway/SmartSpending App (Membership Required)

200

If you're a member of a benefits program that uses Reward Gateway then this is a ripper opportunity to do some bona fide double-dipping. This week they have upped the immediate discount on eGift cards from 10% to 15%, but further to that your program may also have additional cashback (my employer's program offers 7% CB, please report in the comments if you have anything different). The hitch, of course, is you need to follow the link to the BCF site from your program's web page. I daresay there will be limitations on how CB will apply and not everything will be eligible, but I don't see anything specific in the T&Cs.

eGift card T&Cs

How the offer works

  2. You only pay the face value of the Instant eGift Card LESS the % saving listed below.
  3. The Instant eGift Card will be available from your ‘My Account > My Instant eGift Cards’ straight away.
  4. Shop at Boating Camping Fishing in-store or online, and use your Instant eGift Card to pay for your items.

Terms & Conditions

  1. For online transactions - Only 1 Instant eGift Card can be redeemed per transaction. For instore transactions, multiple Instant eGift Cards can be used.
  2. We’re sorry, but we cannot provide refunds for BCF Instant eGift Cards
  3. Instant eGift Cards purchased as and from 11 October 2018, will have no expiry date. eGift Cards purchased before 11 October 2018, will be valid for use for three (3) years (36 months) from the date of issue. Any balance that remains on a eGift Cards purchased prior to 11 October 2018 will not be available for use after the expiry date.
NSW Fair Trading Regulation legislation states that Gift and eGift Cards sold by retailers are required to have a minimum of 3 years validity before expiring. As we take stock of the Gift and eGift Cards in bulk on a specific date – so you can purchase them at a discount – the 3-year validity might not always be exact.
Employee reward programmes are not subject to the 3-year minimum stated above, however, we will endeavour to keep it as close to 3 years as possible to ensure you're experience is not affected.

A couple of points about Reward Gateway (since they usually crop up in the comments):

    • It's an employee benefits program that you would have access to through your workplace. Generally it's aimed at larger companies, so if you have an employee benefits program available then check who it's with. Random people are not able to join directly.
    • I personally find the best way to purchase eGift cards and keep track of cashback is through the Smart Spending app. The gift cards are stored and activated through your account, and you simply scan a barcode off your mobile phone screen. It's available from GooglePlay and the Apple App Store.
    • You may see a CC surcharge for purchases. Not all eGift cards attract it and I haven't actually been charged myself. This is supposed to be plainly shown during the purchase process, but don't be surprised if you see up to 1.5% premium added on your statement - it's wise to factor it in before deciding if this is a great deal for you or not. (Please report in the comments if you can confirm that you've been charged but it wasn't shown during purchase.)

The CC surcharge only seems to apply to my premium credit cards, not my non-premium cards. I didn't think it was related to the type of eGift card purchased.

      • Interesting, thanks for sharing. Very useful to know.

      • Which bands constitute the non premium bank card?

        • Usually Mastercard and debit cards.

I get charged for using ANZ Visa and AMEX but nothing for Qantas Mastercard
