Perth City. I also followed some comment above about getting to the AfterPay card from the AfterPay app rather than directly opening the Apple Wallet. Not sure if that makes a difference but I didn't want to be declined and then have to try this method.

I bought a WISH gift card plus an $8 bag of lollies at Big W and used the self checkouts. I initially put in $20 as the value for the WISH gc (so total was $28) but when I used Afterpay it got declined. The lady said Afterpay had a minimum of $50 spend, so I asked to change the WISH gc value to $50. I had the Afterpay card in my Apple Pay wallet, so I held my phone to the EFTPOS terminal, chose the Afterpay card in the wallet and used Touch ID to authenticate. It got declined, because I had not chosen in the Afterpay app which credit card I was going to use to add the funds to the Afterpay card, which shows as a debit Mastercard on the EFTPOS terminal. When I clicked 'activate Afterpay card' in the Afterpay app and chose my M/C credit card as a funding source, then held my phone to the EFTPOS terminal, it completed successfully. The transaction shows up as a $38 order in the Afterpay app, which is correct ($58 - $20). Hope this helps.

    • Wouldn’t you already have your cc added in Afterpay? Why do you need to choose the funding source after transacting?

    • I tried same thing ($50 Wish with $6 item). Declined by the terminal. And lost the $20 bonus on 2nd try (declined too, but I noticed the amount charged already increased by $20). So looks like if it failed the 1st attempt, the bonus is gone. At least got my money refunded few minutes later to my card (it did charged the amount first then refunded). I did activate before paying the 1st attempt as suggested

  • Might try $50 Woolworths GC from Big W tomorrow

  • How do I know if it has reached the redemption limit?

    • The offer should be still visible in the app if you are still eligible.

Btw it worked for me at DJ’s bought a $25 gift card. I would say would work on a $21 one.

      • Thanks.

Bought a lululemon gift card this morning

    • Don't use this link.

  • I haven’t confirmed if it works yet as the payment hasn’t been processed, but I was able to have the Afterpay card accepted via Apple Pay at the one place that should accept it, if nowhere else… Apple.
I purchased an Apple store gift card from the Apple store app on my iPhone and used the Afterpay card via Apple Pay to pay for it.

    • Never mind. I just got a SMS message saying the following: “There's a problem processing the payment for your Apple order. Please contact your card provider or check your email for more options.”

  • I got an email from Afterpay extending the Apple Pay offer until Sunday 9th May. I wish they would just report the minimums needed to use it. I don't mind spending $50 at Target, but if I spend it and get nothing, it's annoying to have to return things. I guess I could get a $21 David Jones giftcard, but $21 doesn't go very far in that store.

    • Yeah, saw that I got it back the offer on my app after the failed attempt last week. Not sure where to use though as I tried at DJ, The Glenn, and been rejected too after following all the suggestions here. When I asked Afterpay, they just said it's in their algorithm to decline certain transactions at their discretion, just need to keep trying.
