seagate ones come with an adapter for every country

    • Oh really? Thanks, updated the OP.

    • Just a caveat to this. I believe the 8tb models and below might not have those extra adapters. This is going off the comments on amazon.

      • +1

Ah yes,not sure for other capacity as I have only bought the 14tb model

        • I've got 10tb and 16tb and they came with the extra plugs.

  • 6-8 weeks wait

    • +2

Yep. Yet another crypto shortage, sarcastic hooray.

      • +4

God damm crypto, they ruined everything!

8TB hard disk already doubled the price since last week, and still no stock.

        • There are plenty of cheap internal 8tb hdd

        • woah has it already starting to affect local markets? Legit asking.

        • Crypto hasn't ruined RGB yet.

      • Possibly a stupid question, but how does crypto influence currency exchange rates?

        • I'm sorry, I don't understand the question entirely.

    • Where did you find the 6 - 8 week wait detail?

  • +2

Tempted to buy one for my NAS because of the impending crypto-storage doom

  • +1

    thanks, bought 4 for chia

anyone know if you can make multiple orders?

    • +3

"Down here, salt is a way of life."

  • 6-8 week "expected" wait, get ready for that to blow out due to chia coin. plus you need australian power adapter unless you shuck it

  • +3

Bought 2 from Amazon recently and shucked https://imgur.com/a/xQBqZ51

    • When you look up the S/N of the shucked Ironwolf Pro on Seagates site, does it report the remaining warranty on the drive or does it report that there's no warranty as it's part of an enclosure?

I know in previous years when I would find a barracuda and look up the S/N of the actual drive itself it would tell me there's no warranty info on the drive.

      • Good point. They both report as "Warranty Information Not Available"

I assume the warranty would be managed by Amazon instead of Seagate themselves, and it could be tricky putting these drives back into the enclosure without them looking like it's been pried open.

    • I purchased 2 from Amazon about 2-3weeks ago. Both mine were exo’s

  • purchased a few from amazon recently, removed from case and can confirm got ironwolf pros.

  • +2

If you buy 4 it charges extra duties
If you buy 3, the first two are USD199 each, and the third is USD275
Buying 2 seems to be the sweet spot

Delivered 2 came to AUD623 (using bank to convert not PayPal), or $22.25/TB.

Unsure if you can do multiple orders, assume so though

  • +1

Damn it, Gerry. Costing me $30 in GST.

  • is there anything you need to do to the drive in windows once you shuck it?

    • Need to plug it in via sata obviously and need to go to disk management to allocate a drive letter.

I would recommend doing a write check first for errors.

  • Not to knock a deal, but…
To me, the case that this drive comes in is basically its death sentence. It might as well lbe considered its coffin. The heat that builds up inside this case will not be good for the drive (assuming you use it for any decent length of time on any decent amount of data). Plugging it in now & then might be OK though.

I am assuming this case, like many others, is not actively cooled.

I suspect very few people are buying these to use as USB drives. I bought two 14tb drives recently from Amazon and have shucked 'em straight into my PC.

    • I got a few of these in the recent Amazon deal and not shucking them, one was DOA and was refunded.

Two sides have a pretty open spaced grill to let air circulate, I keep mine standing so the longer grilled side is facing up to allow warmer air to escape. The hottest they got (passively cooled) during the ~20hr integrity check and ~10hr file transfer was a bit over 50C (~25C ambient), I then pointed a spare 140mm case fan soldered to a USB cable at them and it keeps them under 40C.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Has anyone that has these on backorder, received any updates for ETA?

    • No updates here, got 2 stil listed as backorder.

    • +1

Still nothing here for me. Says 6-8 weeks on the product page but also says "Order placed 4-7 business days" on my order summary page whatever that means exactly.

  • no updates and no ETA on my order.

  • A user has requested the comment of this post to be re-opened due to non-delivery.

Got my first update on this order since placing it back in April 2021.

"Thank you for your recent order of Seagate external hard drive. Unfortunately, Seagate has notified us that there is a delay affecting this product. We will not be receiving the inventory to fill your order any time soon. According to Seagate it is expected to ship around October 2021. If this schedule is correct, we would not be able to ship your order until then (please note these schedules sometimes get delayed)".

    Anyone else still hanging on?

I would like to think that it will actually come in.

    • I got the same email.
6 months delay on a item is appalling.
      I'm considering cancelling my order.

  • I am not saying this is the case, but it would be a good way to get the use of customers funds for 6 months interest free.

They charged me up front for my order.

At the end of the 6 month wait, can they just say that the item is no longer available?

  • Just sent B&H an email after seeing them giving an incorrect estimate delivery date:

    Dear B&H Customer Support,

Despite your email stating that this Seagate HDD has an October 2021 delivery, your website currently is offering a ‘special’ price on this item, and is stating an expected delivery of August 31st 2021.

These details have been attached for your information, and can be seen here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1558327-REG/seagate_s…

It is not ethical to advertise this when you know this expected delivery is not correct – especially due to the fact that you charge customers upon order placement, and not when stock becomes available.

    • Please keep us posted with there reply

Below is the response, so will keep fingers crossed.

"Thank you for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

Please be advised that your backorder is estimated to arrive at our warehouse by 08/31/2021. As soon as we receive it in stock we will ship your order to you, and e-mail you with the tracking information.

I am not sure why you were advised wrong. Regretfully, we need to charge international orders at the time of purchase.

I apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it has caused you.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance.

Thank you, we appreciate your business".

  • Anyone else still waiting?

    • Still waiting here.

  • still waiting :(
Advised end of August last time I spoke

  • End of August has come and gone.

It appears that the HDD we are waiting on has been replaced by Seagate with the model STKP14000402.

  • +1

Have asked for an update, and will put it here when I hear back from them.

  • Thank you for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

Please be advised that your backorder is estimated to arrive at our warehouse by 09/29/21. As soon as we receive it in stock we will ship your order to you, and e-mail you with the tracking information.

I apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it has caused you.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance.

Thank you, we appreciate your business.

  • So the ETA was 5 months

I probably wouldn't have bought the HDD if I had known there was a 5 months wait time.
It's not even certain as the ETA keeps getting pushed back.

  • Comments are reopened again by request.

  • Received a surprising email yesterday morning, stating that the 2 drives I ordered have been dispatched, and will arrive 19/10.

  • Finally mine shipped too

    • And arrived. Now to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with it….

  • To be honest, I was not hopeful that stock would ever come in - the model of HDD appeared to be end of line.

  • My order has also been dispatched and expected delivery is on the 22nd.

  • I have the Seagate Iron Pro inside the casing which is nice.
