Most excellent. These have been $400 in the past for 6500T.

Idle it uses 10W so is good for an always online PC.

Edit: Can the ram be upgraded to 16gb?

    • +1

      From Dell..

      Type 2133 MHz / 2400 MHz

Connectors - Two DDR4 SODIMM slots
Memory capacity per slot - 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB
      Minimum Memory - 4 GB
      Maximum Memory - 32 GB

These have been $400 in the past for 6500T.

Sounds about right, that was two years ago.

  • Wifi onboard?

    • Connectivity:
      Wi-Fi Built-in!

      • look at the link…
      • +1

No antenna connection on the back of the unit (from the photos) though, which admittedly may not be the photos of the actual unit for sale.

One issue I have had with people selling these as refurbs is that some sellers say they have wifi onboard but what they actually do is just throw in a shitty USB wifi dongle (which is not the same as having 2x2 wifi via mini pci-e on the mainboard!)

        • +15

Hi there, the do have wifi onboard with antenna on the back. Images are just for reference.

          • @RecomputeAus: Thank you - looking at buying a couple of these for work!

  • Indeed most excellent!
Can I please check which SSD they are using?
Is it the M2 or the SATA?
I'm hoping it's M2 so I can put a 2.5" SATA drive in it for storage.

    • -1

M.2 - look at the storage upgrade options on the link.

      • again, this is a legitimate question because these have a 2.5" drive bay and an M.2 slot - not clear on the specs whether the SSD is actually an M.2 model or 2.5" one.

        • +2

          They have M.2 ssd already.

  • +1

Does it have WIFI card and antenna ?

  • Does it have Windows loaded?

    • I'd also like to know this please - Is Win10 included in price?

  • is this a good media device to watch youtube and stream to a TV thanks

    • +1

I use one of these as my work computer with 3 monitors, runs nice and fast. Would make an excellent streaming machine for many years.

    • Yes and this small form sits below most TVs. I use one with a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse combo. For straight media get a Chromecast but for a PC on the tv this is perfect.

Hmm CPU is fast enough for a great budget gaming PC, but often these need to be moved to a bigger case AND given a stronger PSU if you want to put a gaming GPU in it.

    • +8

Based on the size, I doubt the motherboard has a PCIe Slot

    • +9

      Move to a bigger case???

The only reason to buy these is the beautiful small case.

The i5-7500T in these benchmarks about the same as the popular Optiplex 9020 SFF, which is cheaper and has room for a GTX 1050ti or similar.

      • +1

The only reason to buy these is the beautiful small case.

Plus lower power consumption vs. 9020SFF

        • Is there much difference in idle power, or just when under heavy load?
The 9020 had very low average draw in normal use.

If not adding a GPU, I expect the newer chip has better graphics power though.

          • @manic: yes. different series of CPU. the micro form factor (MFF) use the same CPU as ultrabooks, the USFF, SFF use higher power parts with a higher base clock.

the Micro form factor is a great low power machine for always-on use cases, like security software. the power supply being a simple external brick is easily replaced too vs the USFF or SFFs

    • I can't ever see rehousing one of these SFF packages as a good move - you're better buying a motherboard that fits your target form factor and going from there.

The TDP is limited on these CPUs to keep temps low and therefore cooling noise low.

  • Does the coupon cancel the free delivery Australia wide in the description?

    • +1

We do free shipping australia wide with the coupon.

    • Seems to. Not seeing any delivery fees on checkout.

    • +17

How is $299 just higher than $300?

        • delivery

  • Do these things get noisy (fan noise) when watching movies/streaming etc?

    • +1

Mine is silent when playing video. The fan only kicks in during heavy CPU load (video encoding etc).

    • Silent.

    • Silent

would this work as a NAS, with added HDD? (Plex with 4K)?

    • 100% - that's how I have mine setup.

I was considering shucking a 2.5" 5tb drive and putting it inside ( along side the M2 drive), but ended up just plugging in a USB 3.5 I had lying around.

Plex transcoding does struggle on 4k files, even with the hardware acceleration from this version igpu.

  • Can these out put 4k @ 60hz?

  • I wish I had a use for this? Someone give me a reason to buy this please

    • +2

      Just do it!

    • Convert it as Gaming box for emulator games

  • how much pick up price? just near your shop

    • 299 like the deal said.

  • +1

  • -1

    Can't add it to cart.

    • seems like OOS

  • +3

Let us know if these get restocked!

    • +1

Damn, was just about to hit buy and it dissapeared. Hopefully more coming.

  • Buggar .. OOS. Rang and confirmed they all sold. Hopefully they restock sometime soon and offer here again.

  • +4

Next time dont ask too much questions and regret it as soon as it OSS

    • +7

That's because you didn't stick to OZB principals:

      Buy first ask later.

  • This looks like a great Plex server.

    • +4

These units run great as a virtualization host at home at low idle power consumption. Put some extra RAM on it, great for running docker containers or VMs: Some examples:

      • file server / Plex, with a large external USB drive
      • domain controller
      • virtualised routers (eg pfSense / RouterOS), VPN server
      • security camera recorder (eg Blue Iris)
      • home assistant / MQTT
      • Minecraft / Valheim server
      • web server

Performance/$ is excellent compared to a branded NAS but requires a lot more time/skills to configure.

Great to see 7th gen from corporate swap hitting the market. Can't wait for next year when 8th gen arrives on the secondary market for the 6 cores.

  • These aren't bad at all and they aren't anywhere as ancient as the OzB's favs Optiplex 9020.

  • Damnit, needed on for WFH setup . missed out sadly. would be interested if theres a restock or similar deal

  • Dam missed out as well.

  • +2

also missed out - would like to know if there's a restock

  • dam wanted one of these

  • +1

Keen for a restock, please let us know! :)

  • -1

Surprised to see this go for so much still. I have a similar model i was suppose to put for sale thats been sitting in my drawer. I wish i just kept this and a gaming laptop but instead i went the gaming pc and work laptop

  • I want one!!! please!!!!!

  • aww missed out :(

  • actually, the performance is very similar to the optiplex 9020 as mentioned earlier, better off to just buy that

  • Awww I would have bought one - currently use one of these as my work PC, albeit with more RAM and a different graphics card.

Good price I think for $299

EDIT: Oh didn't notice this is the Micro version, I have the SSF version which I prefer, upgrade-wise.

  • Also interested in getting some if they become available

    • +1

its still available.. I can add one to card and apply code

      • Looks like it came back in stock - just purchased one - thanks!

        • Thanks got one.

Going to run Big Sur on it.

  • I just bought one of these with a slower processor. Great form factor. These are very small. It's currently doing a great job as a file server. There are a few places (Australian based) that sell these kinds of machines from eBay.

  • Not out of stock, I just got one then

    • Me too, at 2:50pm NSW time

      • I checked the website around 12:30PM, Melbourne time, all gone.

        • Well it was out of stock, they offered me a compromise of something worse for an extra $100

  • These are excellent with the MFS18 stand

    • thanks for the tip!

  • Sweet OP! Managed to grab one!

    • Mine got pulled. Rep was saying it was a computer glitch making it available.

  • gone again :(

  • Ah darn. Wanted one too

  • Arghhhh, this would have been a good Mother's Day gift.

    • I got her this one. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572911
yes its slow, but trust me, she will never use it fast enough for it to be slow in her context

      • If storage is not an issue generally the small TinyMiniMicro form factor will have advantages in terms of occupied space as well as idle power consumption.

  • Or with one of these Micro Vertical stands

  • +1

Would be awesome if you have any 7050 towers in the future

    • Yeah something we can put a budget 4gb GPU in would be amazing for kids looking for an entry-level gaming pc.

      • Exactly - a 1650 super or 1050 ti until the GPU prices drop out of the clouds.

  • Shit missed it again watch watching currently the best TV show Invincible

    • hmm, I dismissed it as some kids show when it came up in my feed, but I'll revisit.

      • Watch one ep.
        Guaranteed you'll be hooked.

      • Haha dude watch the trailer.

  • +1

    Missed it.Darn~
OP, any chance you can re-stock?

    • Keen to get one as well.

  • Missed out, hopefully they will restock soon

  • keen for fututre

  • Missed out
