    I love my Tender,
It has made my life complete and fulfilled all my dreams….

    • Glad to hear it! There is nothing more frustrating than an unreliable internet connection.

        I don't remember that verse…

      • Good deal. Will you be posting it again?

    • was it easy to set up?

      • Yep… it's a breeze using the app…

  • Got my sister to buy some during the last sale a few weeks ago. Sadly no free plug.

I set up the double 3 pack she ordered to cover the entire 2 story double brick house and to be honest I'm super impressed with these and would recommend anyone to give it a shot at least at this price.

    Not much to loose really.

The parental controls are rather lacking though if that's a main feature you require.

      Sadly no free plug.

Rep is getting a free plug here…

      • Hahaha yeah that's fine.

To be honest I was looking for a mesh unit myself 2 months back and considered the mw6 but saw so many mixed reviews here and they were not that cheap. Then the mw12 came out but we're costly.

I was choosing between the Chinese version of the xiaomi ax1600 or the deco m9+.

Ended up going with a 2 pack of the deck for $279.
I do love that it's triband but as mentioned if your a standard wifi users then this is a great product that really out performed what I was thinking it would.

I setup an MW3 for someone almost a year ago and it hasn't missed a beat since… Has been working continuously since setup without any problems.
Personally, I have a Google Nest wifi which also works great.

  • Will this support 250Mbps download? Or should I go the 2 pack mw12 for an extra $60?

        Awesome, thanks mate

      • Check if your friends and family members ISP require the use of a VLAN ID or not. Most TPG and iinet require the router to have VLAN 802.1q and Tenda Nova isn't capable of VLAN 802.1q.

          • @powerpower18: Depends on the type of nbn being used. The existing router they have or the Tenda Nova in bridge mode?

tempted to grab these after being disappointed with a Ethernet over power device.
anyone used these on 900Mb and above plan? know i wont get full bandwidth, but 400Mb+ should be achievable
and does the MW6 have the security concerns that the MW3 units have?

    • +2

If you’re paying premium for 1000mbps, I would spend extra and get the mw12

      • lucky enough not to be paying ;)

You need an ethernet backhaul with these to achieve higher speeds, at least from my experience.

and does the MW6 have the security concerns that the MW3 units have?

Yes, it did, but the patch I proposed a while back worked and I think it has since been patched via firmware update. At least I haven't experienced the issue again.

I'm selling my Tenda Nova setup because I moved to a smaller place, but otherwise I've found that it has been really reliable over the last several months.

      • cheers,
in reality a few hundred would be suffice. its mainly fixing a dead spot problem in the home office. and when working i'm capped @ 100Mb via VPN

  • Hmm…I think my parents would appreciate this as there so many dead zones in their house.

Dumb question but what do people use the smart plug for?

    Any deals for MW12?

  • I'm not very tech savvy so could anyone let me know what these are used for?
It can replace my existing router at home?
Does this mean I can connect this straight to the NBN box?

    • Tenda Nova can be used as a router with wifi or only wifi, connected to the NBN box and can replace your existing router depending on your ISP. Who is your ISP?

      • I'm currently with mates

        • +1

With Mate you can connect the Tenda Nova to the NBN box.

I’m also with Mate and connect straight to the NBN box. Works fantastic.

  • What’s the cheapest wifi6 (802.11ax) mesh system?

    • TP-Link Deco X20 in a 2-pack bundle $320.

      • +1

        Crikey!!

        • $1749 for a Netgear Orbi RBK853 Wi-Fi 6 3-pack bundle 😱

          • +2

            @Twix: Strewth!!
Gonna be Xmas time before buying

  • Do I need 3 pack when my house is small? I don't know where I should put all 3 units..

    • 1 or 2 can cover a smaller house.

      • Is using a single Tenda unit better than an existing modem? I've never used a mesh system but I had the impression at least 2 were needed to get the mesh effects. I tried searching for a single Tenda unit use example but haven't seen any.

        • +1

A single Tenda Nova is only a router. Tenda Nova is not a VDSL2 modem. You do need two or more to have a mesh network.

          • +1

@Twix: OK. Thanks for the clarification

  • Thanks, bought one for our warehouse as we've always struggled with wifi signal.

  • What’s the security like on these?

  • I set up a google nest and pretty disapointed (especially for the price). It's probably my house old Sydney inner west semi so a long house with thick walls (router and study at opposite ends of the house) . . Our Nbn is rubbish as well (hfc) and constantly dies (neighbours internet as well).

Wondering if replacing it with this would help or not…

    • I doubt the MW6 will make a difference. How many Nest Wi-Fi did you install? Have you told your ISP about the HFC problems?

      • Yep. And neighbour and I on different ISPs and suffer exact same problems.

Have three nests basically each room needs its own. Thanks for your advice. Sigh.

  • hmm I've got a flatmate complaining about poor quality in his bedroom.
previous flatmate never complained but he probably had his PC wired in and mostly used that so I'm not sure.
tempted to grab a Tenda A18 at officeworks to connect into the ethernet in his room but I'm a bit concerned that the wifi isn't reaching his room well when it's less than 10m from the router to the far wall of his room.
it is only a cheapo tplink archer c50 but I don't think it would be that bad.
    anyone got suggestions?

  • Bought one. Planning for wired backhaul as per this post. Not sure I can post link. Anyhow, I think may help someone. https://confusedbird.com/thread-70-post-966.html#pid966
