          • @pinkybrain: I have a garmin watch, but bankwest didn't work with garmin pay.

So i bought the halo ring

But garmin pay now works with bankwest

So now I have 2 things on my hand I can pay with rendering the ring a waste of money.

  • Worked

    • So not plastic?

      • -1

        Definitely metal

      • +1

The Ring Sizing Kit is plastic just like a cable tie. But the ring itself is made from ceramic.

  • +1

a true ozbargainer to save some $ would be like:

"Sweety… instead of us spending money on a expensive wedding ring… I can just get this 'one'"

    A. It fits
    B: it useful
    C: (most important) it's free.

Win Win Win… can't go wrong.

    Slap *duck

    • One ring by itself doesn't seem very useful.

    • The ring is not free though, they charge 15 bucks

  • Google "ring size" & there are lots of print-yourself options

  • +2

Thanks OP. Can't wait to size myself for a ring I'll never get.

  • I wish I had this before I ended up ordering an incorrect ring size from Tianyu.

  • Excuse the ignorance but this will only work if you have a bw account yes?

    • yes

    • +1

No, you can order it regardless and it'll arrive. The rings will be plastic and won't do anything, it's simply a sizing kit so you can workout what size you want to order if you do get it.
      But it's free so…..

  • +1
  • This is just a sizing kit and not an actual ring … or am I reading differently.

    • +1

just the sizing kit.. the ring is $15

    • +3

not an actual ring … or am I reading differently.

Perhaps you can explain how you read "Free Ring Sizing Kit" and now think these words are ambiguous?

    • Just to take your sizes for thinger or whatever…LOL

  • +5

Maybe I need to hand in my OzB licence as I'm not sure why people want this other than it being a free bit of landfill? Would only come in handy if you were ordering rings online or something I guess?

  • Done. Thanks op

For all bankwest customers dont bother with the ring. Works for a about a week and drops out. Looked after it and never dropped/mishandled it

    • +3

Did you speak to anyone about it? I used one for 2 years without incident. Wore it every day including to the beach and in the shower - never had a single problem. The only thing that stopped it was the replacement ring that got sent out to as it was due to expire (just like normal credit cards).

      • Same here but mine got loose about six months in. Enough that I started dropping it a few times , after that I was done.

      • +1

So do you pay another $15 when it expires or are the replacement's free?

        • When I first got mine they were $29, so they are cheaper now. My replacement was free and they sent the same size and colour.

  • Yes this is only the sizing kit which normally limited for BW customers only.
So the deal is now open to non customers as well.
The ring itself costs $15 and has expiry date (same as your linked credit card). I own this for overseas (before covid, and travel insurance that comes with it), but my real experience the ring is hit and miss, quite annoyed when people waiting in the line behind you, i.e Opal

    • wait the ring has expiry date?

so you need to keep buying a new ring each time the credit card expiry?
so it can be linked to any credit card from any other banks?

and how do you link it to any credit card..do you need to give them your credit card info?

  • +1

    ringhole

  • This is an amazing idea, if it was durable, looked alright, could be updated with new card details etc. Any competitors for say ING, Google Pay, CommBank?

    • It is durable and you can deactivate it if it gets stolen anytime online or by phone.

Only issue is it gets loose after a while, so tends to slip off a bit easier. Perhaps due to all the hand washing I did with it on

Wedding ring will burn through funds much quicker than this

  • Next task is to find a wife…

This could turn out to become the most expensive bargain of your life!

    • +1

I can mail one out to you.

  • See if they send me one

  • Now i can compare my ring finger to my……other ring finger…yes

It all started from this bloody post..

can this be used for condom sizing?

  • The ring saga that rocked OzBargain.

  • +1

But OzBargainers don't even need ring sizers cos they are already known to be tighter than a fish.

  • welcome to OzRing.com.au

A lot of people are going to end up being engaged with spam.

  • Good find OP. Thanks and submitted. :)

  • +1

Read their first FAQ as "what if my fingers falls off"

  • Wow, the halo ring thing is pretty cool, I wonder if there's generic ones that work with other banks.

    • sadly no, would love one that would do things like; Pay for goods and up doors, like after hour gym doors.

  • -1

If you lose the Halo ring, and you don't realise this immediately and/or disable it via the app, and if someone finds it in the meantime, they could do some serious damage to your account making less than $100 transactions at multiple places.

    • +2

      same as losing the card.

  • +3

Not sure if this is a ringsizer deal or a shilling post for Bankwest.

I do like Bankwest though. Never had to crack the whip on them when it came to client homeloans, unlike their owner.

  • Never received.

    • I received mine on Friday

      • Hope mine shows up soon then.
I'm glad that some people received them :)

      • Received today, looks like it was just a bit delayed.

  • +1

Got mine today. It was addressed to Sideshow Bob and I'd forgotten that was the name I put down. Was a bit confused at first.

    • Hahaha

  • Have not yet received the thing yet.

  • Got my free ring sizing kit today. Dunno what I'm going to do with it but it doesn't matter cause it was free lol I'll put it away in a draw somewhere

  • Finally got it on 25/05

Looks like the Halo is being scrapped:

"Effective 28 September 2021 the Bankwest Halo payment device is withdrawn from sale. Customers who already hold a Bankwest Halo payment device can continue using it until the expiry of the device, however, from 1 December 2021 the Bank will no longer reissue or replace any existing Bankwest Halo payment device."

    • Did they say why?

      • +1

No, I just happened to see that popup when looking for a new transaction account. I'm guessing that the cost of maintaining their halo infrastructure isn't worth it considering the shift to fitbits/watches/phones as payment devices
