    Save $2.25.
So it was only $7.50 normal price. It boggles the mind. I can't imagine this not becoming e-waste within 3 years, but I could be wrong.

    • It's just another Brilliant deal…

      • Yeah, they do last long…

        • I bought one and it died after a few weeks.

But I'm confident the next one will last longer, I'm going to buy another :)

@Click_It: As far as I know, they offer a free replacement if you have the receipt and the faulty device. An e-reciept is usually saved to your rewards account (assuming the card was scanned at the time)…

Where the Greenies of the site as landfill after about a week .

    • I'll buy one of each, I'm sure the bride and groom will be ecstatic getting a whole set as a wedding gift. The microwave won't fit in the wash basket with the other stuff, so Microwave for the baby shower. Yay!!!

  • +12

Choice is good but when a crap ton of the available appliances on the market is landfill junk I really wish it was like back in the old days where there’s only a select good quality brands. Ones that are made in Australia locally by our own people and have good QA. Happy to pay $40 or more for a toaster that doesn’t crap itself after a year.

    • +3

I'm not aware of any small appliances that are made in Australia?

      • +7

We used to make everything including complex electronic goods

I'm more speaking about when I was a kid, the selection was limited, but boy did my family go through way less toasters than now for example.

        • Fair enough.

If your not making toast every day you could use a pan or a microwave oven instead. Downside you have to flip the bread. Upside you save space, money and get a more even toasting.

      • +1

        microwave toast, lol

        • -1

a microwave oven is a microwave and an oven in one. It has a heating element and fan so it can work as an oven or a grill. They are more commonly referred to as convection microwaves here.

          • @wallawallabingbang: A microwave oven (commonly referred to as a microwave) is an electric oven that heats and cooks food by exposing it to electromagnetic radiation in the microwave frequency range.

  • When a toaster costs the same as a decent loaf of bread. Nice

    • I really liked this song.

All I need now is a brilliant basics smoke detector to warn me when the toaster catches fire

    • +1

You don't need a toaster for that… the smoke alarm will catch fire.

  • If you want a nicer looking toaster these are on clearance: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/contempo-2-slice-metal-toast... ($12, was $25)

Seems to be decent stock levels around

    • Thanks Bro, you can post that, it's pretty good price for someone who is frugal

Make the morning rush that little bit easier with the Brilliant Basics 2 Slice Toaster.

Just wanted to say, since I bought this toaster my life has been so much easier. No longer do I have to wake up before dawn to light a fire to cook 2 pieces of toast. Now I just put it in the toaster and it cooks the bread. Truly a wonderful kitchen gadget.

    • Glad to hear some positive reviews, I think for $5, you can't go wrong, it's literally the cost of a loaf of bread

      • +1

this is ozbargain. surely we can manage at least two loaves of bread with a fiver?

      • I buy yesterday's bread at Coles for $1.

    • +2

…just wait until you try a microwave oven!

  • +5

    Perfect to warm the bath

    • +4

Yeah good for a single use

  • These cheap devices are brilliant for students living in University accommodation

    • -2

Aren’t they brilliant for everyone who wants it cheap? International students paying 40 grand a year shouldn’t be worried about the price of a toaster.

      • +1

Well they might like cheaper goods as well as us

  • +1

    😭 I paid full price.

  • +2

Thanks OP, bought 2 for my work cos they wouldn't replace the broken one due to budget cuts

    • Sounds drastic but you should change jobs if they care that little about their employees.

    • depending on where you live, its cheaper to buy a new one rather than making the trip (+parking + fuel + time) for replacement

  • Be careful with these cheap toastersz some of them don't take large slices which are the norm these days.
