FYI this game can be gotten for as little as $70. Just requires a little shopping around and time. Going by this comment

Find 2x games from that list for ~$10 each and then use those two games to trade in to get it for $49.

    • +5

Yeah but you need some extra effort finding $10 games, while this you can just wait at home, combine with 10% off ebay gift cards might be better for someone. And yeah, unfortuately I live in Vic.

      • Where do you get the 10% off eBay gift cards? Best I've found so far is 4% with Suncorp Benefits.

        • Swap cards via Woolworths maybe…

Retail should be opening up now with the relaxed restrictions that got announced today, just in time for release :)

    • I did that myself. Traded 3DS copies of Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate NES Remix, both of which I got for less than a tenner around 2015/16 and haven't touched since.

Would have been nice if the game came out before our latest lockdown, but I'll happily take a paid long weekend to platinum Ratchet.

    • Just to add, EB Level Bonus does apply to these deals, it can be lower than $49 depending on your tier and the games.

  • +1

Hmmm to cancel amazon pre-order or not that is the question. Game comes out Friday so this would need to be posted today, what are the chances that actually happens, thinking low.

    • +1

Have never been let down by Amazon. Their delivery network has been improved significantly so much that I'm not worried even if it only gets dispatched the night before release day as I know it'll still arrive on the day.

      • +1

For Amazon it depends a lot on where you live. If you're in a large capital city and close to one of their fulfilment centres then you've got the best chance.

        • I'm in Melbourne with prime and didn't get Res Evil on launch day from Amazon after preordering months earlier

      • They have removed all information about their launch day delivery, and the delivery reflects this change. I (and others) have not received anything on release date since. Final Fantasy 7 remake. This is an issue purely with Amazon being able to fulfilling orders, and to cover their wallets as I assume the amount of coupons they been giving out the past year have been plentiful.

      • Can confirm I received the game today as expected with no hiccups.

  • Will I still get the pre-order bonus after 11-06 (before 17-06)?

Damn, my $84 latitude deal isn't looking so good now… Can't wait for this game. I agree with the EB games trade in hack comments, but here in Vic it is harder to pull that off given we literally can't walk into a store and scour the shelves for these listed games.

  • Surprised Amazon isn't reliable!

  • +1

I'm super keen for this game :)

I don't know if I'll buy for this price but yeah, super keen.

on a side note - anyone got inside word on when anyone will have ps5 stock??? :(

  • -1

    i still cant get a PS5

  • +4

This is the one game thats making me finally consider a PS5

  • +8

Will be an awesome game, but $94 can get stuffed!

  • +2

Lol, even at $95 this is ridiculous. I'm not buying until first party titles prices return to the reasonable $80rrp.

    • +1

Might not happen, unfortunately. This is the consequence of a $10 USD price increase in games this generation.

    • +1

I'm not buying until first party titles prices return to the reasonable $80rrp.

When they return to $80RRP? When did PlayStation games have an $80RRP?

      • +1

Most of them never were, but when you had basically all retailers barring EB selling launch titles for $69 to $79, that became the de facto RRP in the eyes of consumers. So when PS5 titles are going for $125 as the official RRP, and the best discounts from retailers are above $100 - (in this situation, an eBay discount code is needed to bring down the price to below $100), that stings.

        • $98 at Amazon AU, no coupon required.

      • PS2 days? Maybe?

  • +5

$94 for a brand new game? Are we living in 2004?

  • +3

Buy Days Gone and Star Wars Squadrons for $30 at JB then trade at EB and pay $49.

    • This for sure work?

    • Looks like Tekken 7 and UFC 3 might also fall into this JB -> EB trade hack.

  • The Gamesmen haven’t let me down yet.

Are you in NSW by chance? I've pre-ordered 2 games from Gamesmen the last year and both arrived a day late (shipping to VIC). Tracking on both orders showed they posted the night before release date (probably after the next day express post cutoff)

I remember pages of complaints on the TLOU2 Gamesmen ozbargain deal complaining of late shipping too.

    • Not the person you're replying to, but I'm in NSW and have never been let down by them either. I believe they're based in Sydney so maybe it's an interstate issue?

    • Brisbane.

      • Thanks, good to know. Maybe I've just been unlucky.

        • With Covid-19, the actual cutoff time for Express Post is no longer 6PM (unless the merchant has a special arrangement with AusPost). I recall my LPO told me to lodge parcels before 1:45PM at that LPO for express post. Otherwise, those express post parcels will be picked up the following day.

Any lockdown in the state would affect both inbound and outbound parcels. You might think AusPost workers are exempted from those, but it appears that's not the case (my guess is for health and safety reasons). Also, it is not safe to assume AusPost workers are not affected by Covid-19. The virus doesn't bypass postal workers and courier delivery people. Social distancing applies at work and there is a big increase in volume when there is a lockdown.

          • @netsurfer:

Also, it is not safe to assume AusPost workers are not affected by Covid-19. The virus doesn't bypass postal workers and courier delivery people.

I never assumed this and I wasn't speaking from a place of entitlement - I'm completely sympathetic to the impacts of COVID. I was just curious because I had the exact opposite impression of Gamesmen re prompt delivery, incl. anecdotes from people in other states.

Wasn't an anti-Gamesmen comment either, I'd rather support them over Amazon even if preorders are late.

            • @evanjd: My subjective experience on Gamesmen in terms of prompt delivery is similar to yours. However, the feeBay offers were so attractive, the extra day or two delay was something I was willing to look past.

Amazon, it only works if you have Prime. If you don't have Prime nowadays, you do second class citizen service (which is even worse). Perhaps for pre-orders, Amazon might send them on-time for non Prime members. Regardless of which one, one concern I have is the packaging. Cases don't always arrive in perfect condition. Amazon, they don't use consistent packaging.

Buying a ps5 next year and being a year behind releases seems the go for this console. Assuming in 12 months current releases have been discounted.

    • +2

Or, buy one now, play the game quickly. Once finished, sell it quickly. Then, when the game is dirt cheap, purchase it again for keep (if you want the game) or wait for it to be added to PS Plus eventually.

Getting used to digital games with PS5 and Series X.

      • That's my approach!

      • or just wait a few months for it to go on sale, I like to wait until games are patched and optimised before playing them.. never seen the point of getting a game day 0 myself. I bought Demons Souls and Sackboy PS5 at a recent EB 2 for 1 sale for $86 I think it was for both of them.

      • I play games to generally de-stress and enjoy.
Forcing myself to play quickly doesn't mesh.

I'm totally fine to wait, did it most of last gen and picked up most PS exclusives for $20, have GamePass on PC with about 10-15 games to slowly get through :)

        • There are ways to still enjoy the games early. It mostly involves don't get too attached to games and keep them for too long.

There are often Christmas deals. Games can be really cheap at that time ($10-$20). I recalled getting one for $10, quickly played it (didn't enjoy it that much), sold it back to EB for $18. With birthday 50% bonus + $20 level up bonus, I got a lot more than I paid initially for TLOU2 (I did buy it on discount thanks to OZB).

Most of the PS exclusives in $10-$20 range are in PS Plus collection or were offered as free games in PS Plus. So for people with PS5, most of us would have transitioned to digital for those (and sold most of the physical games). I basically paid $50 for my PS5. Rest was paid by trading in PS4 Pro, an extra controller and most of my PS4 games. I am cynical that I would be better off waiting another year before getting a PS5. The Spiderman MM OZB deal was really good. Planning to sell it or trade it in soon.

          • @netsurfer: That's cool man, I'm not trying to convince you to change your ways.

I'll do me, you do you.

            • @putshan: I have a pile of shame too. Just need to try to resist adding more to it.
It is deal dependent. However, the PS5 pre-order deals are pricey so far. I recall pre-order RDR2 was $29 after trading in 2 games. It did get added to GamePass for a while I guess so if you waited, you could play it for $1 for a month.
