  • Had a smaller Scanpan last year. It last longer and better than most my previous pans including Tefal.

  • Was interested till I come to the bit "do NOT use high heat". I use gas and my cooking mostly require high heat, so hard to find a decent non stick frypan that is suitable for this style of cooking.

    • yeah i wouldn't use any high non-stick pans for high heat (not sure if true but rather er on the side of caution). pan frying is fine for non stick i think , the whole high heat meat searing-esque temperatures less so (lowers the lifespan of the non stick).

would lean towards a stainless steel, carbon steel or cast iron if you plan on cooking really hot stuff. i find stainless steel easier to take care of personally (i have s/s and cast iron) but sometimes things do stick if not oiled or heated enough. cast iron sticks the least but requires more work to maintain

    • All coated non stick pans are the same in this regard, they are not meant to be used in high heat. If you exclusive cook on high (gas doesn't matter btw), then you'll need a iron/steel pan and season it.

      • yeah good to get all these good advice, yes I do use really high heat on my gas stove to sear the steak and lamb, if non stick can't handle that then no point in spending big thinking they are better quality and can do that !

  • I found Scanpan no better than the cheap $20 ones. Have stopped buying expensive non stick, yet to find one that lasts longer than a year regardless of cost.

my 2c scanpans are far worse than tefal.

tefal now has many different quality levels on ranges.

I have recently returned a Scanpan under warranty (every meal would stick on it) after 5 years of light usage only to be told via a preformatted standard letter that it is not covered under warranty due to: 'The SCANPAN Code E1 = Carbon Build up'. I bet a lot of customers receive this go away notice. And yes, I do have non-stick pans in use that lasted me 15+ years already. No more Scanpan for me.

Yeah they tried various things to get out of warranty claims with me, hence my boycott over 10 years ago. Couldn't be happier to not have Scanpan in my house
