Just a heads up there is no unique USA/AU versions, so after purchasing the game from USA eshop you can happily buy and play DLC off the Australian eshop.
Cheers, good to know. I have changed the description to reflect this.
Noob here, how can I buy from US eshop ?
Thanks in advance
Either switch your AU account to US address, or add another account to you console that is using US address. Payment can be made by either buying US eShop gift cards (Target US online is a pretty nice channel) or using US PayPal account (AU card and PP accounts won’t work).
However you won’t be able to switch to some countries if your account has balance or gold coins. And you might not get updates or enjoy some DLCs when switched back to AU. So for most people having two accounts would be a better solution.
Having multiple accounts is not friendly for people with multiple consoles. As non-primary console will not be able to play games in other accounts. And certainly can’t use the main accounts NSO features.
I almost got my account 'stuck' in the US aft switching to buy a cheap game and using a $10 card from amazon. Trying to spend the $4ish I had remaining was hard as each time you spent you earned gold coins, which were then hard to use.
by hard to use I mean ie say you have $3.20 and 50 gold coins and you find a game for $3.40, well you can't buy it with credit first and outstanding with coins. You can use ALL the gold coins first but then you'd only have to pay $2.90 leaving you with 0.30 and a few more gold coins earned form the purchase and still not able to switch out of the us due to the $0.30 on the account.
Hmm, I can't say for certain in regards to the US accounts but you can definitely switch region FROM Australia with gold coins, and even active NSO subscription.
They just don't transfer when you swap region, so maybe you can zero your balance on the US eshop, and just not worry about whatever few gold coins are left there when swapping back to AU.
@Benbenbenben: That's correct, it is the currency that locks the account. But as in my example not being able to spend the currency first and coins second makes it finicky. Spending the coins first uses all available coins … you can't say spend 10 coins and the rest use up my cash balance.
@Elijha: Ah I see what you're driving at.
I think one of the other times this was cheap on the US eshop someone posted up a calculated purchase tree for getting your balance to zero (factoring in gold coins too) but it would have been a bit of faff to work out.
Dekudeals is a good resource as you can filter via price to find games to use up the rest of your credit.
I'm struggling with this as well. I have my son's account as the primary account on our Switch, and my own one as a secondary. If I change my own one to US, what will happen to my son's account (there's a warning when I go to change my country: "Please note, if you have a child account for a user under the age of 13 and you are changing your country/region of residence to the United States, confirmation is required by using a credit card for verification. Until the confirmation process is complete, any child accounts will be temporarily unusable.")
Also, if I get a $10 gift card, and spend the $9.99 on the game, will there be 1c remaining in the account preventing me from changing countries again?
Switch to US region. Pay with US paypal (ING debit card). That works for me. No international transaction fee as well. Pay the exact price. No leftover USD. Change region anytime you want.
BTW, US paypal can pay US and mexico eshop.
Alright, so in light of the eshop credit issue when switching regions, easiest way to do this might be something like this:
$20US eshop card
Buy Taiko game 9.99
Buy 5x DLC for taiko @ 1.49 ea
Buy 2x DLC for Goonya Fighter @ 0.29 ea
Buy 1x DLC for Daemon X Machina @ 0.49
Balance should be zero. Doing it this way DO NOT spend any gold coins for discounts as otherwise you'll have leftover credit.
I'm not big brain enough to work out a way to include spending gold coins for a discount, but maybe someone else can calculate it :-) I think the 4.99 DLC packs for taiko earn 25 coins, and the 1.49 packs earn 8 coins. The game itself earns 50 coins.
Where can I buy US Nintendo Eshop cards to use for this purchase. Thanks in advance.
If you change your Amazon account to USA in account options you should be able to purchase a US card. Alternatively you can try eBay or PCGameSupply from memory
Play-Asia sells them too.
Just used this to buy my eshop card. Many thanks! Easiest process I've had in getting international giftcards - and not inflated on price is a huge bonus! Cheers MackyKing!
Thanks OP. Been holding off to create a US account. This price is just too good to pass up. Proceeded to buy the USD$50 eShop code for USD$47.88 from Amazon US to get the game and use the rest on DLCs
Great game when combined with some knockoff Taiko drums
AU $25.01 | Taiko Drum for Nintend switch,Taiko Drum game accessories for N-Switch
Do you have these? How do they hold up? Keen to get a few.
$25 + $23 postage…
Just gotta shop around a little, they can be had for $30 and free postage:
Wrong; if you actually try to purchase it, it's either $50 from China with $0 postage, or ~$30 from AU with ~$30 postage. There seem to be one or two around for ~$40 delivered, but most stores are using deceptive pricing.
@askvictor: Indeed you are correct, I was misled.
$40 is pretty good for the knock off, I think I paid closer to $60 nearer to Taiko release but I couldn't justify the $120+ for the official article as I played much more on the buttons as enjoyed playing portably.
