Corsair K55 RGB Gaming Keyboard $59 (Usually $89) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

Pretty good entry level membrane gaming keyboard with Macro keys, no software needed to setup. I just bought one a few days ago and I love it.

I've had mine for almost 3 years and it's as great as the day I bought it. Been working from home for 15 months so it's been used at least 40 hours a week during that time as well, and also used for Gaming.

  • How loud is it ?

    • +1

I haven't used this keyboard myself but it doesn't say it's mechanical so I would assume it's not loud.
Description says this if it helps you:

Minimum noise and satisfying feel without sacrificing performance.

      • +2

        Yeah, rubber dome not mechanical.

  • I want a quiet keyboard but not at the cost of input lag.

Is there a difference with this and a $100 mechanical keyboard interms of performance?

The K55 is wired with a latency of 4.8ms.

The Logitech G613 Lightspeed Wireless Mechanical keyboard has a latency of 3.4ms (USB receiver) and 7.7 (Bluetooth) at $128.
The wired Logitech G Pro Mechanical Keyboard has a latency of 5.3ms at around $170.

The Razer Huntsman and Huntsman mini have a latency of 3.5ms at $135.

The HyperX Alloy Origins keyboard has a latency of 4.8ms at $104.

Generally, you will see some marginal improvements, but it depends on the brand and the technology used - with bluetooth technology even an expensive mechanical keyboard will have worse latency than a cheaper one wired one. If you are a hardcore FPS or esports gamer who cares about every single millisecond of latency and having the best technology for competitive games then you could go for a keyboard with a latency of <1ms as seen on Rtings.

According to the site, the K65 and K100 have the lowest wired latency out of all the keyboards tested at 0.1ms and 0.5ms respectively. For the lowest wireless latency (USB receiver, because bluetooth is too slow), the Blackwidow V3 and K57 are the fastest at 0.8 and 1.5ms respectively.

    • You will not experience lag with this keyboard.

      9.4/10 rating. 4.8 ms

  • Bought this for $129 about 5 years ago to replace my mechanical keyboard. Been excellent and still going strong!

  • +3

use this for 9-5 work and 5-10 warzone . has been quiet and responsive.

  • I know people deride membrane keyboard, but I don't want to spend over $100 for a mechanical (from a decent solid brand) when it is a keyboard at the end of the day… At least the feedback for this one is good so I'm going to bite and grab this.

    • +2

Have you used a mechanical keyboard before especially for prolonged periods?

I personally would never go back to membrane after switching

      • +1

I do not know but I do not see any advantages of mechanical keyboards.
I use it just because I bought it but it by no means better than a membrane one.
        Probably it is just me.

      • No, all of my keyboards are membrane (the one I use the most, at work, is the cheapest Dell wired keyboard and I'm am okay with it as it is not too mushy). I have tried mechanical on display products and they definitely do feel a lot nicer, but I just can't justify the high price for mechanical. I don't want to get too used to mechanical and never be able to go back to membrane…

  • I wonder if Amazon will update their pricing and match this….

  • +1

Would go for it if TKL/60% don't mind membranes tbh despite all the mechanical hype

  • Would one find something similar too this keyboard but as a wireless keyboard or usually there USB connection as less latency well marketed as a gaming keyboard so that's why

  • Ordered 10am yesterday and it arrived 10am today. Decent work JB

    • Please share your experience about the keyboard.

      • +1

Seems fine so far, keys feel nice, decent lighting.

Only drawback is its a little flimsy, you dont have to press too hard on the space bar to flex the whole board.

        Good buy at $60

  • Bummer, missed out. Back to $89 now.
