Looking for a TV below $2000

Hello folks

So my TV, Sony Bravia decided to die with its red indicator blinking 6 times which from my Google searches seems to be a circuit/power board issue.
I don't want to waste time on getting an electrician and trying to save it. TV is nearly 3 yrs old, I am disappointed that it didn't last long but oh well I am here searching for a new Tv which excites me.

I watch youtube/movies 75% of the time and the rest is sports and games on the switch. Hdmi 2.1 is important for me.

Can anyone please recommend a tv upwards of 65 inches which fits my budget. Hisense 75 seems to be good but comments on ozbargain show that sports or fast paced motion is really bad.

Thanks in advance.

It is not reasonable for a Sony Bravia TV to die < 3 years.

    According to Choice

    Life expectancy of TV's

    · Budget / entry level: 5 years
    · Mid-range: 8 years
    · High-end: 11 years

It may be worth pursuing ACL with the store you purchased it from.

choice is paid for by the industry

    • or just go direct to Sony. I did that last year.

The Sony OS call centre said its outside warranty, I said ACL says no it's not, please escalate. Someone in Aus called me and sent out a tech to fix (replaced broken PSU) for nothing.

the TV was just over 3yrs old (1 yr wty).
They know they're required too (which is one reason why we've got an Australia Tax), but just need reminding.

      • Thanks a lot…will keep this in mind.

When I called up Sony directly the rep wanted to go through some troubleshooting steps…..would you believe that I have done the same steps and this time around when the rep was on the call it worked lol.

Felt so mad ! I can only think that I left the TV switched off completely overnight with all connections removed. I did the same thing but was only giving it like 2 min and then trying to switch it on.

But if it plays up again, I will do as you advised. Thanks again !

  • oh wow didn't know about that…will look into this.
