  • why?

    • because they were selling products that didn't match the advertised description

      • I meant, as in why is op posting this

Very unlikely to get a cashback unless a miracle occurs and cotd delivers within 2 weeks

      • They have stock now, so chances are better.

  • windows on this thing is going to chug on just 1gb ram!

  • If triple Q read this thread, please do any discount for McTivia or Aspire S Series 13.3" UltraBook :) thanks QQQ

3hr battery life… pretty cruddy for a netbook

  • So with the $20 store credit they gave the first time I ordered this (and it didn't arrive on time), I can potentially get this for just $179. Hmmm… I wonder what I'll do with the first one I ordered? ;-)

    • return it? :)

      • That didn't come from me. :-) But let's say I did, what do you think are the chances I'll get the same unit delivered to me?

    • Keep in mind for the extra $10 you get a 24 month warranty instead of 12 months (unless the second one also comes with the extra 12 months card?) plus get to keep the $20 credit.

      • True. Plus you lose another x number of weeks waiting for the refund to come through and the "new" unit to arrive. So it's probably worth keeping the first one… if only it came with a 6-cell battery.

I suspect they'll be breaking the seal again to get all those extended warranty cards out!

See the other thread on this same deal, its a rip….boycott COTD

    Let's see… single-core CPU, only 160 GB hard drive…

    only 3 cells ( = 3 hours run-time berween charges)…

NO USB 3.0 ports (only some 2.0's)… the list is long!

The "3G" spec means -extra- cost… over the life of the unit!

    This is an OLD, SLOW, UNDER-CONFIGURED netbook… No Deal;
It should cost -maybe- as much as $100, but no more, IMO.

The Memorex DVD burner should be -included- NOT ~$40 more!

    Remember Moore's Law!

(…right next to The Alamo, on the bottom shelf)

  • Do Acer only give you 14 days from date of sale to claim the cashback, regardless of delivery date? Hardly sounds fair.

    DO NOT BUY!

NETBOOKS ARE NOT BRAND NEW. FIRST BATCH WOULD BE MOST LIKELY BE RETURNED NETBOOKS WHEN COTD MISADVERTISED THE BATTERY SIZE FROM LAST POST http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62238
ORIGINAL SEAL ON BOX IS BROKEN AND JUST RE TAPED SO PROB REFURBED!

  • Yes my laptop seal was broken when I received it and although the screen was in perfect condition I felt the battery included with it was not the one that originally came with it. Just a 3 hour one. Mine was set up for Telstra so it works on the 850Mhz band. I am happy with it though!

    COTD and Scoopon both sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fool me once…

  • lol.. history speaks for it self

  • WOW….the first IDENTICAL deal to this got 148 positive votes and only 5 negative (I'm thinking late in the piece) and this one which again is IDENTICAL gets only 2 positive and 5 negative!!!!

My goodness - I don't think I've seen a bigger reversal ever in the votes on an identical deal and VERY CLEARLY says COTD must have really done something very, very poor to the people who took up the first deal.

    • Thats because while OzBargainers never remember in the long term (i.e. every other time COTD has done something rotten), they do remember in the short term.

Perhaps they are just too forgiving.

      … I'm not.

  • try them once… NEVER again.

    COTD take ages to post!!

    • I think it is worth $199 but as said the battery life is poor. I use mains.

  • Got my net book- delivered in 8 days so plenty of time to apply for acer cashback. The battery had been changed but computer was new- very happy with my $199 netbook- who can complain for the price.

  • Got mine the other day too. For $200 I'm very happy with it. 3-cell battery and all. Heading down to MSY this arvo to pick up a 2GB stick for it.
