      • Yeah, that is what I am trying to avoid. Had bad experiences in the past so would prefer a laptop with the port built in.

  • Thank you sir
    Bought one

    Now 8 weeks wait begins

    • check your order status, mine stated early December. Cancelled order.

  • My order status now says expected to be ship out in late November. I’ll give it 3-4 weeks to see if it changes. If not I will cancel the order as I won’t wait 5 months for a laptop.

    • +1

Yeah I just noticed mine says the same after originally saying 8 weeks

    • likewise, so i cancelled. Need a laptop by mid August.
Mine said more than 6 weeks before when ordering.

      • How do you cancel the order?

        • +1

over chat. it takes 2 business days for refund. So I am still waiting.

Now I got to look for another Lenovo laptop :(

          • @Dunkylala: Looks like I will be doing the same on Monday. What a shame.

            • @yamahamoto: Call the Lenovo Post Sales hotline to confirm via email. The live chat people do not follow it up.

              • @Dunkylala: I called Lenovo and was told the date could change to an earlier day but they can’t confirm. They advised to wait for 2 weeks to see if the date changes. If not I can call back to cancel if I want so I have decided to wait for 2 more weeks.

                • @yamahamoto: Fair enough, I wasn't willing to wait that long.
Purchased this instead and upgraded everything.

                  • +1

@Dunkylala: Thanks I have until end of day to decide on this. If I upgraded to Ryzen 7, 16gb Ram, 512gb ssd it comes to $1267 before cashback. If cashback claim is successful which I think it will then cost will be down to $1152 so only $100 more than the other laptop but get it much sooner. Decision decision

  • As stated above my order is now late Nov, but did anyone else have their pending charges and holding fee disappear? it no longer shows on my Amex card so not sure whats happening?

    • Happened to me too, it charged then disappeared. Called Lenovo and they sorted it out.

      • thanks did the same.

  • im borderline on this deal. i used a laptop with a 500nit display outdoors a while ago and have been spoiled. on a sunny day 300nits was unbearable. if there was a display upgrade id jump on it immediately.

  • Ordered 2 weeks ago, checked order status arriving Mid December. What a joke.

Shame there's nothing comparable in terms of performance/value out there

  • Did anyone else get an updated shipping/arrival date?

Mine was originally shipping late November and arriving late December.

Now shipping late July and arriving mid August.

Fingers crossed its not a momentary glitch and will revert…

    • +1

I had the same as you (late November shipping), in the system but it has now changed back to 8 weeks shipping. I just called lenovo the rep said it will ship mid-late august now and i should get it by early September… so it seems to be back to the 8 weeks shipping time frame.

      • Whauut really?
        I just canceled

        • +1

Hey just a update i looked again my order on Lenovo and seems to have gone back to Expected to Ship November 30, 2021 and Expected to Arrive December 9, 2021… really have no clue now whats going on :/, the agent said it was 8 weeks only… so i will give them a call again.

          • @ridical: Ordered about 4 days ago. Mine updated today to the exact same dates. That's a long wait…

        • How hard was it to cancel the order and did they refund in a timely manner?

  • Got mine thanks to doweyy, saved heaps.

    ● NVIDIA® GeForce® MX450 2GB GDDR6

After customizing from base spec, it all comes up to $1214, very cheap for the spec!

Dont mind the wait, almost moved to Mac once they released their M1x/M2 chip bcs there seems to be no match to that for the price-for-performance ratio, until i found this deal~~
    Windows forever!!

*PS if you use Cashrewards plugin, they have 12% cashback, so another $146.16 off, and they do stack with coupons!
So it comes up to just over $1k

    • Could you please explain the cashrewards plugin and the 12% a bit more. Cashrewards.com.au has 4.5% for ideapad.

      • Check the terms for cashback as only a selected ideapads are included and at 3.5% and coupon code is not listed. Hopefully, but don't think cashback will trigger. But good luck!

          It worked

      • +1

Yesterday it was at 12% cashback..
Yeah it is a hit and miss, last time I used it for Sony website, I added coupon and still managed to get cashback.
        So fingers-crossed

  • +1

Added 1TB and 5800u to get above $1500 threshold for amex $200 cashback. Plus leaving for overseas soon so will claim back 10% GST on the purchase amount!

But…. Will it arrive in time…..

  • Ordered again on 25th of July
    Delivery date Dec 9th

  • My delivery date is January 11… They have not even build them yet….

    • When did you order

      • Ordered, July 11, 2021—-> Expected to Ship December 31, 2021—-> Expected to Arrive January 11, 2022.

They also charge me second time for no reason, and could not explain what was the reason for that…

  • So interestingly, another hold payment came out on my card 06 Aug. Ordered on 07 Jul and shipping date is still 31 Dec… Maybe they do this every month until it ships as a check? If so, super annoying.

    • Same with mine too. Hate to tell you, but I ordered 3 weeks after you, and my expected to ship date is now 15th Nov… I ordered exact computer as listed here in storm grey colour.

      • Haha ah wells. Will see when they actually ship, online chat said there was an issue with the dates and they were probably just holding dates. Will see in a few weeks time I guess…

        • I think the long shipping time is due to parts. As it is a new laptop, they might have just initiated mass production, plus shortage of components could be an issue too.
But once they put things together i believe it should be faster.
That's what happened to my previous order as well, from 2 months —> 2.5 weeks

          • @hellopanda: Yea of course and obviously mostly unpredictable, but shouldn't really advertise as 8 weeks shipping if they really have no idea.

Either way, easy enough to cancel if I need to.

            • @AquaDigger: Mine now shift to 31st Oct shipping and expected delivery 9th Nov.. I guess good news

              • +1

@hellopanda: Mine to 30th sep shipping. Getting there.

                • +1

@iamherenow: Looks like mines back to 30 Sep. Slowly slowly.

                  • +1

@AquaDigger: Got an email saying mine has shipped. Hooray!

Actually says it was shipped 4days ago. But that's not reflected on the order detail page, that still says 30th sep.

                    • @iamherenow: Well… This makes me both happy and sad haha. Clearly it's not a First In First Out ordering situation… But glad they're starting to ship and that you've got yours!!

                      • @AquaDigger: Yeah maybe slightly different specs.

                        • @iamherenow: That's true. I did upgrade stuff in mine, so probably more of a delay. No need for a laptop now I'm sitting at home on my desktop anyway :D

                    • @iamherenow: Wow, that's great news!!
Mine's also, from 31st October now shifted to 21st Aug and arrival estimated 28th Aug.
Excited, hope its not a glitch

                      • +1

@hellopanda: Got mine a few days ago.

                        • @iamherenow: mine now changes again to 27 Aug delivery and 8 Sept arrival, geee keeps changing

                          • +1

@hellopanda: Mine's on the way finally, will be arriving in 3-4 business days.
                            Worth the 4-5 weeks wait.

  • -1

Good price but the build/delivery times are ridiculous. I wanted a laptop now, not in 5 months time

    • Lucky!! Because this deals expired…

  • +1

My order went from 9th of Dec delivery to 27th of Aug WTF

    • +1

mine too, end of October to 21 August which is today!!

      • I received mine today!

        • Wow thats great news.. when did u place ur order again??

          • @hellopanda: End of July

            • @nurbsenvi: similar, placed mine on the 29th July, hope to get mine in a couple of day

              • +1

@hellopanda: something wrong with my order, keeps being pushed daily..
Says will ships 23rd Aug but it didn't, next day it said 24th Aug but it didn't and keep being pushed until 28th and still didn't ship, and now said shipping 3rd Sept.
                What is wrong with Lenovo?

  • Ended up reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch as I hate all the bloatware that these OEMs insist on packaging and ruining what is perfectly good hardware.

Performance and battery life is significantly improved with McAfee no longer hogging all the resources. Plus, no annoying adware gunking things up either. Booting from cold now literally takes 3 seconds if I include the crummy Lenovo BIOS logo! Feels like it's waking from sleep if I didn't know any better.

Only thing to watch out for is that Windows didn't detect the wifi drivers during installation and you'll need to download them onto a USB key from the Lenovo website using another PC. All other drivers will then automatically install when you go to update Windows.

Probably would have considered a MacBook Air M1 if I didn't have a need for Windows 10 (software compatibility), a discrete GPU and better overall value. Pretty pleased with the build quality and specs for the price. An equivalent Dell would easily set you back $1,500 and the Cash Rewards bonus essentially covered the extended 3 year warranty I got with it.

And oh.. the ability to handle some light gaming made this deal a no-brainer!

    • Hi is your wifi working all fine now? My wifi connect and then disconnects after 10 seconds? and its not my router as i am able to connect to all of my other devices fine. Do you happen a link to the drivers i need to re-install. Might do a full re-install then.

edit: sorry do i also need a new window's activation code if i am re-installing from scratch? its been a while since i have done this.

      • +1

Yes, my wifi seems to be working fine. There appears to be two sets of WLAN drivers, one for Intel and the other for "Atheros/Realtek/Mediatek" for some reason. I installed the latter from here

No need for Window's key if you're planning on reinstalling from scratch. I believe Microsoft started storing the license on the machine's UEFI/BIOS and is automatically retrieved when you go to rebuild it.

The process takes about 10 minutes these days and is pretty slick compared to what it used to be. Give it a shot - happy to help out if you get into trouble

        • perfect thank you worked like a charm.

          • @ridical: Good to hear. Hope it fixed your wifi issue.

            • @OSienna: Do you keep AMD graphics drivers, or is it better to disable them and run only MX450?
Is there a way to lower the screen brightness during the boot?
Also can we adjust the battery charge to only 80%?

How is your touchpad? I find mine, to be on a noisy side.

              • @Peteroz: When the mx450 is active, I found battery life is much worse when idle. Like 10 hours on a full battery to about 3hours on a full battery. I wouldn't want it running whole time. Maybe it's a setting I'm missing. I use the mx450 for certain apps. And make sure I shut down those apps once finished with them.

My trackpad is noisy too. It clicks when you take your finger off. I notice it when the house is quiet.

                • @iamherenow: Is there a quick way to change between AMD and mx450?

                  • @Peteroz: I set it to use mx450 for apps by choice in nvidia control panel. Once set there, for that app it seems to always use mx450. Rest of the time it never seems to use mx450. probably because I don't do much that requires it…

                    • @iamherenow: Ooh, now I can see in 3D setting, I did not know about that, thank you! As for most tasks the integrated AMD will do more than enough and also will be easy on the battery.

My laptop came with a little scuff in the corner of the screen, lets see if they will be able to arrange replacement.

              • @Peteroz: Windows installs the AMD and NVIDA drivers by default. There's a setting in the NVIDA control panel which defaults to "auto" to determine which GPU to use based on the application.

There is no way to lower the screen brightness during boot (which should only last a few seconds) and the OS should kick in and flick it to the last used setting. If those few seconds bother you then don't boot from cold and allow the laptop to sleep instead.

I'm not aware of any means to adjust the battery charging to a particular threshold. I trust that Windows or the OEM would have drivers or hardware mechanisms in place to ensure that the battery life is kept optimal for most scenarios.

That said, if you're concerned about how your battery is functioning over time, I recommend periodically running the ever-useful battery report built into Windows 10 (from the command prompt):

                powercfg /batteryreport
                start battery-report.html

Have a look at the "design capacity" vs "full charge capacity" metrics to figure out whether the charging cycles are hurting your battery.

My advice is to not fuss over it too much unless you have reason to believe there's something wrong with the laptop. All batteries start to noticeably degrade after about 2 years and by the 3rd or 4th year, you'd probably want to replace it with a new one if portability is still a priority. OEM batteries should cost around $80-100 and compatible third party units of the same capacity are usually around half that.

Most Dell, HP and Lenovo laptops have easily replaceable batteries - something that sadly can't be said of Apple and Microsoft devices.. Another reason to steer clear of them if you can.

                • @OSienna: Thanks, a lot for the information… those things I didn't know! Especially about the battery life cycle. On my Ausus laptop there is a battery setting, where I can put charge limit to 80%. I just thought there could something similar here as well.

                • @OSienna: I have some problem with the screen, the colours washed out, have not contrast, and when getting out of a sleep mode after a few hours the signal/picture splits in blocks. What video drivers you have installed? There is one Nvidia VGA 10 suggested by Lenovo or the latest from the Nvidia website?

                  • @Peteroz: I just installed whatever drivers were listed here. My Device Manager shows the following under Display Adapters:

                    • AMD Radeon Graphics. Driver v27.20.14036.8
                    • NVIDA GeForce MX450. Driver v27.21.14.6230
                • @OSienna: Also just noticed, after the sleep mode it is not waking up, I need to press power button for several seconds to wake it up. I think it is to do with the drivers or some kind of settings. Before it was all good.

                  • @Peteroz: Well, you can always reinstall Lenovo Vantage and restore it back to factory - otherwise, just make sure you have all the necessary drivers loaded.

I don’t seem to have any of the issues you’ve described.
