I bought this last year. I needed a new PE cover this year because of holes, they told me I have to buy the whole thing again because they don’t sell the plastic cover separately. The cover will only last you a season.

      So its not UV treated?

If you take off the cover in summer, it will last more than three years. The plastic cover is $56.99 on ebay.

Yeah I had an Aldi one which lasted a year. Horrible stuff. Just ended up leaving microplastics all over my garden. The areas in between the fabric reinforcements just degraded and fell out and it became a bit like a fly screen.

This is the worst of cheap Chinese junk, which does nothing but pollute our environment. Don’t buy it, spend more on a longer lasting kit from a hardware shop.

Edit: if we had a closed system economy where manufacturers had to pay for environmental clean up of their products (disposal) then crap like this wouldn’t be on the market.

      • Yes exactly as what you described.

    • How sturdy is the frame if you don't mind me asking? Could it be a cat enclosure if we bought different netting?

      • The frame is reasonably sturdy with steel connecting joints. I’ve strapped the structure down with ropes and very heavy planters so it doesn’t move in the wind. You could made a shade house out of it with some shadecloth but I don’t know if it is suitable as a cat enclosure.

Kogan is very high quality so for $10 more its a no brainer

does anyone know what sort of soil i should be getting to fill up these things, and avoid ending up with millions of gnats invading my house? i previously went for the common potting soil and it's full of these things.

      • Yeah, garden soil is far more appropriate than potting stuff. I talked to the guys at the local(ish) soil yeard, told them what it was for, and we got a load delivered.

    • This price is nothing special. Same thing is $20 at Bunnings

      • Delivered?

        • I'd rather not pay $10 for delivery….

          • @Kaise: They're both $30 delivered??

    • Any review on quality of these?

  • Cheap price… but risk of total loss very quickly.

A better more expensive (but good value) alternative is the Maze poly tunnel.

I fortuitously found one on clearance at a Bunnings for $5 to test, but would pay full price (less platform incentives).

  • Good price! Just bought one on flea bay for $99 two days ago.

  • Yeah every time I've seen a youtube with one of these the cover is completely wrekt, maybe do some research.

Just a tip, if you have car sealant / long term car wax, put some of it on the green house cover and on the sides facing the sun. It will block some of the UV exposure and the cover will last longer. Ours have been outdoors for 2 years, still in perfect condition. I put a coat of car sealant on it before summer, just a small amount covers the top and sides that face the sun.

    • How do these hold up against strong wind?

      • Mine is against the fence somewhat sheltered from high winds, anchored to concrete tiles. No issues, plus heavy pot's inside that weighs it down.

  • Would this hold up as a cheap cricket net for a 10 year old with a small bowling machine?

  • Note Kogan garden bed more expensive and also poorer quality - the long piece is in 2 parts, unlike the Bunnings or Aldi (when on special buy).
