So get the d700 now for $2633, or wait until the 22 March for the new and much more impressive d800 for another $366?

    • beat me to it
I was gonna say the same thing.

the new D800 is almost twice as good as the D700 and only about $400 more.
if I am in the market for a Pro camera, I would want Quality
      hence D800.

  • Not a great price. Can be had for just over 2100 + shipping + possible taxes = well under 2500 elsewhere. (As per orange123's post).

I got offered it for $1960 last time I was O/S.

    $2633 seems expensive.

    • even local stock is CHEAPER…LOL

Sorry, found cheaper prices elsewhere, so this is not a deal.

  • Is the D7000 geting the x100 treatment like the D3100 and D5100?

    • This is about the D700, the D7000 is a totally different beast.

      • yup. I understand the D700 > D800, but am asking if the D7000 is likely to get a refresh soon to something like the D7100? A while back the D3000 was refreshed to D3100 and D5000 was refreshed to D5100.

I actually really like the D7000, but would get a D7100 if that was available within 6 months. I am happy with DX format.

        • I'd like to know the same thing. There are a lot of rumours about a D7100.

  • d800 is a coupla hundred away

buy a just superceded camera for $2.6k? nah…

  • not cheep

  • It depends on what you need really. D700 is not a bad camera at all even though its almost 4 years old. If you do big canvas style commercial or landscape photography the D800 is certainly the way to go. But bear in mind that the D800 will not cost $3000 like in the states. Thanks to Nikon Australia who always jack up camera prices, i recon it would be somewhere around $3500 mark for the D800. And add another $400 for the D800e model. The choice is really up to you. Just giving my 2c.

  • No deal according the other ozbargainers. LOL
