      Want to explain?

        Watt’s to explain 🤣 (see below)

        • -3

          Watt TF?

  • How does cable wattage rating work with chargers? Is it simply that the cable can handle any voltage/ampage amount, so long as it's under the total rated watts?

    • Generally that’s not how it works.
      Cables are rated for amperage.
      So you need to factor in the highest voltage to get that wattage,
      EG, 3A@20V = 60W
      if using 12V then you’ll get 36W etc

      • Really? So this cable according to your theory can handle 720W @ 240V. Seriously?

        • +1

          watts = volts x amps

            @ihfree: Everyone knows that!

            How do you rate a cable of its Ampacity without specifying other factors. I guess you would know what other factors since you are such an expert. BTW, this formula does not apply directly to cable ratings.This can at worst get you killed or at least burn something or set your house on fire.

              @1zero1: Sorry - misread comment chain. USB-C PD is meant to simplify these matters. Regardless, 240V is outside of the PD spec.

                @ihfree: No worries. I am only using 240V as an example. I think we should all be a little bit careful. The W = v x A formula is often applied out of context. I don't normally comment due to trolls. But I am concerned that people might get hurt. Sorry that I sounded a bit harsh. Didn't mean to.

            • @1zero1: Coming across quite rude there mate, mitchins was just stating a fact.

              • -3

                @DannyBoy: Nothing is rude when safety is concerned. I am merely stating the facts. There is enough rubbish that can get people hurt. I think your comment is actually rude.

                • @1zero1: Wtf are you on about. The cable is the least dangerous part of the charge cycle.

                  The charger unit itself will operate within its capabilities and the phone also has an inbuilt chip that limits the fed in current.

                  ***No idea why you think it's ok to attack people to get your point across but of course you are hinding behind a keyboard so don't expect anything less..

      For the purposes of USB-C PD, yes.

      Over 60W, you'll require a different cable.

  • Interesting site - has anyone actually purchased from here/there before?

    Don't think the cart works. Oh well, not that I was looking for any cables.

    Looking for 100W cables - any recommendations (local,eBay,Amazon etc), or ones to avoid?

          Stripe is a payment provider - https://stripe.com/.

          The site looks dodgy to me and I wouldn't be using it just to save a few dollars.
