      Fast Charging not Suitable for Samsung?

      • Probably because Samsung uses PPS which is a sort of substandard of PD in layman's terms. PPS chargers/powerbanks are PD chargers but not all PD chargers like this one support PPS.

      • Seems weird to me too. I'm pretty sure Samsung's "fast charge" is just a rebranded QC 2.0 and this apparently supports QC 3.0

        • With the S20 series Samsung have changed to USB Power Delivery 3.0 with PPS. Samsung Super Fast Charging pulls 25W and Super Fast Charging 2.0 pulls 45W.

          Later versions of Android require that fast charging uses USB Power Delivery. That's why QC 4+ is seen less commonly these days but it is backwards compatible with USB-PD.

          • @Clear: Oh, I didn't realise that is what it is referring to. So it can quick charge samsung phones, just not s20 and newer? (or basically any samsung phone that doesnt support 25w and higher)

            I suppose it is always better to under promise rather than over promise!

            • @Butt Scratcher: Yes that's correct. Samsung decided to make PPS a requirement too so any old USB-PD charger won't work with Super Fast Charge. You also need to ensure the cable has an "e-mark chip" for it to work. Typically any cable advertising 100W 5A charging will be e-marked.

    Had to return one of these (26800mAh model), it would run from fully charged to flat in 30 minutes and only boost my iPad by like 5%. Not sure what was wrong with it but Amazon dealt with it.

    • I have the same model. Had to return one because the USB-C stopped working. They replaced it and eventually the replacement has the exact same problem. Outside of the replacement period now.

    I've been using a 30Ah model from this brand and it has charged lots of my friends phones and had plenty left for mine when camping.

    I just bought this 45w PD 20000mah Romoss unit. However, only one input which is the usb c. Same port is also PD output, so can't passthrough charge while charging PD. Good solid unit though.

    The rest seem to be the same price as before but yeah just pointing that out.

      Yes a slight price increase this time round but I've been able to get the 40000mAh lower than what it would have originally sold for.

    So I purchased this item thinking this battery power bank was a 40kmah, yup its not. So I did get ahold of someone from romoss to explain why the label on this product states 40kmah power bank but its not. So the catch with this product is it has 4 batteries but they are rated at 3.7v at 10kmah. So since most electronic devices need a minimum of 5v. They capacity they are stating is misleading. This power bank battery is 3.7v rated but charges at 5v which downsizes the capacity. So this power bank capacity is 20kmah at 5v rated. So beware buying this product."

      That's actually industry standard, not a secret at all and every power bank does it. The battery cells are rated at 3.7V and 40000mAh - which is correct.

      Phone batteries however are rated at 5V so a conversion needs to be done. You'll also need to factor conversion loss but I won't include that in the formula to keep it simple.

      3.7 x 40000 / 5 = 29600mAh.

      • When you don't state anywhere on the product page what the battery voltage is when you give the capacity in mah - its misleading. They should list it like this:

        Not all consumers are aware of industry standards/ 5V vs 3.7V, as the 50 odd people who found that review helpful on amazon should tell you.

          I mean, yes maybe the seller should inform people, but this is also a case of an standard thing for power banks. All power banks - even ones from mored well known brands stocked in jb hi Fi - have this same measurement system as far as capacity. I think it's stupid. Battery capacity should be in watt hours, not milliamp hours, but somehow phones and battery packs have standardised on maH and not the superior WH, despite that being standard for measuring laptop batteries. Yes this is not a good thing but at the same time literally every battery bank on the market uses maH.

          • @deafmute: Even WH can change for a given power bank/laptop battery though. It depends on the load. A battery will deliver less power under high drain vs low drain. You might get close to rated capacity at a low discharge rate, but if it's got all ports maxed out then you won't.

      It's pretty normal and I wouldn't say it's misleading, because that's how it is stored in the power bank.You will sometimes see them at 3.5-3.6v too.

      Not all devices have 5v batteries either, like laptops and tablets. Are phone batteries even rated at 5.0v? I know my note 4 had 3.x volts. So it isn't anymore helpful to pick another voltage. Which is why Wh is a much more useful metric imo.

      Though I will say that they should show the batteries voltage if they are going to give the capacity in mah

      on a serious note, I recall seeing powerbank with 30k onwards will not be allowed onboard certain airlines, unless you have an exemption (best to call airline beforehand)

    • No. They have a limit of 100Wh of energy in the cells.

      Most battery packs are rated on 3.74V cells, so 100/3.74 ~= 26,500mAh max.

    • Is your fridge 12v? It might be better to use a power tool battery i've seen a few people do this.

    • Bigger is sometimes just more convenient with getting multiple charges out to one device before needing to charge the power bank itself.

    is it just the USB-A port arrangement and numeric charge indicator vs a few LEDs? I've looked at the specs and feel like I must be missing something, different cell types inside?

    • LT20PS+ has the display and besides appearance they're identical. Both 20000mAh 18W power banks with the same ports.

      I had to change delivery from my parcel locker to home address.
      Had to do it for a few items recently, for some reason won't ship to parcel lockers.

        Amazon don't use Auspost for delivery so that's why you can't deliver to Parcel Lockers.

        • I've had heaps of stuff delivered to parcel lockers from Amazon, and waiting in another order now from Amazon with Aus post. Only recently have they started using different carriers for me.

    I bought the 40000mah version one from ebay. The size and weight is definitely not suitable for daily carry in your bag. It's 18w but it will revert to 10w or lower when you charge two devices at the same time. I saw Romoss has another version of 40000mah which has 22.5w but is not available in Australia yet. I bought this power bank just for charging some old devices which are all capped under 18w. Initially I thought that the power bank can charge at 18w even with two devices but I was wrong. But it feels good in your hands in case that you need a big brick in your bag for your personal protection.

  • Bought the Sense8+ October last year and it failed completely first week of July this year.

    Contacted Romoss - got nothing two weeks later and when I tried again this morning their web site cert is expired and I can't even get in to their web site.

    So I contacted Amazon and within an hour my money was refunded to my credit card.

    I just ordered a replacement from this post :)

      The maximum input charging speed of the 40000 mah is 18w.

  • LoL just reading some of the posts here.

    Seems we're finally moving towards a standard charging connector (USB-C unless you're Apple)

    But now manufacturers are building proprietary FAST charging standards into their devices.

    I mean revision 3.1 of USB-PD can handle up to 240W, but hey why use a usb.org standard when we can again get people to buy chargers specifically from us. Oh and we're not going to include them now either. They're extra.

    I'm OK with QC as well, but hey, let's not use that either.

  • Is there even a 10000mah model that supports all the features of the 20000 ones? USB-PD and USB C etc? 20000 is too big to carry around for me.

  • Bought a LT20PS+ but unfortunately it arrived faulty - the capacity would be lucky to be 1/4 of the rated 20000mAh. Seems to be a relatively common occurrence having a skim of the reviews.

    • Sometimes they need to be drained and recharged a couple of times.
