Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G 256GB $1699.20 / 512GB $1819.20 after $300 Trade-in Bonus @ Samsung Education Store

160

The Samsung Galaxy Fold3 5G is available at lower prices on the Samsung Education Store (valid .edu email required) if you trade-in a mobile phone and receive the $300 bonus.

  • 256GB $1699.20
  • 512GB $1819.20

Note that if you don't return the trade-in, you must pay the full trade-in value in lieu. You should be able to retain the trade-in bonus based on other similar deals (e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/649004). Note that they may still charge a “non return” admin fee; it appears to be around $60 as per the other threads.
This might be a better outcome if your valuation is too low.

This is stackable with the $50 newsletter voucher.

  • Didn't they remove all the extras they were giving before?? (pre-order bonus)

    • Correct.

It's potentially a bit more flexible now as you're essentially getting $300 in value in lieu of say some earphones that you didn't need.

I purchased through the EPP site and, according to every review I've read, the 'Galaxy Buds Live' bonus item aren't worth the time and frustration to open.

They are being flogged-off on eBay for under $80 a paid which is better than nothing, I guess.

        • I got the SPen case and charger bundle. The SPen case is shithouse as the cover flaps around and doesn't stay shut. Also makes it awkward to take photos with the selfie mode showing the external screen. The charger is pretty good though.

          • @10101010101: I purchased a Flip 3 and, in hindsight, wish I'd gone for the charger and case bundle.

  • Still waiting on my invoice so i can claim my tv…

    • +6

TV is only available for Telstra Customer. And this post is for Samsung Education Store.

  • does anyone else think it's a good idea to hold out for the S22 in hopes that we will see microSD support?

    • I don't think microSD support is coming back. The S series are mass-market phones and I'm quite sure the vast majority of buyers are non-techy and don't care about microSD support.

      • nooooooooooooooo!! But what will we do with all our decade-old collection of photos and videos!! (semi-serious qn 😂)

Buy a pixel 1 and upload

        • Get the 512gb version and use the Samsung transfer app?
Also cloud backup is the way to go - OneDrive is cheap enough

          • @10101010101: Maybe they don't want to use the cloud for security reasons

  • Note that if you don't return the trade-in, you must pay the full trade-in value in lieu.

Does that mean you get to "keep" the trade-in bonus and only repay the actual value of your trade-in?

    • Based on what I have seen in other similar deals, yes.

  • Proper dual SIM?

  • i want to downgrade from my S21 Ultra to this so bad…..the trade in is such a low amount these days…i got more trading in my S10+ to this S21 Ultra a few months back

    • I have moved from the S21 Ultra to the Fold 3. No regrets yet but getting RSI/wrist pains from the extra weight. I had the exact same issue moving from the Note 20 Ultra to the S21 Ultra. Samsung is going to kill my wrists (or make them stronger)

      • haha yeah i thought that would be my only issue as well…in saying that, the S21 Ultra is such a heavy phone lol. i shouldnt have gotten it, i doubt ive used any of the improved features over the standard range.

      • How is fold 3 vs S21 ultra? I am using S21 ultra at the moment. Thanks

  • what phones are entitle for $300 ? i have old note 3, would that okay?

    • I think the point is that so long as you offer a phone for trade in, you get $300 off PLUS the trade in value that samsung gives you for your phone. However, if you don't send the old phone back, samsung just charges you the trade in value (and you still get to keep the $300 bonus discount for offering a phone for trade-in in the first place).

      • Huh? So we offering but didnt send but still get 300 off?

        • Correct

          • @xyron: oh i read it wrong (never done it before)… i see now.. so when we offer we get 300 off, plus some value for our phone. if we didnt send then we lost the some value discount but still getting the 300 off.
so where is the list of eligible phone and the samsung's tradein value/price?

            • +1

@CyberMurning: That's right. I'm not sure what phones are eligible but it doesn't really matter - run the trade-up app on your current phone, get the code, punch it into the samsung education store page, get the discount, buy the phone, dont send the old one in, job done

  • Bloody hell, I just ordered a couple of days ago with the free galaxy buds pro (although i will use the buds pro). That being said, with my order I got free Care+ with the BONUSCARE promo code which no longer works. I think i would have preferred to get $300 off, though. Not badly enough to bother faffing around with returning my order (which I haven't received yet but has been dispatched).

I know it's a lot of money for a phone, but $1699 seems like a steal to me.

  • i got the 512bg fold3 from epp edu preorder for $2019.20(tradeinbonus)with care+Wireless Charger Trio+Flip Cover with Pen(199+100+95). so it kinda worked to be $1625

so which is more worthy of a deal ?😂

    • +1

I won't value those extras at face value

      • true. but coming from a note user i need the pen, so 80 bux for S Care and free charger works out for me. but yeah $1699 i would buy in a heartbeat with my craked note10+

    • Ask yourself if you would buy all those extras at $400 without the phone. That should be your answer.

  • I'm getting an error with the trade-in function on the website when I try to enter my Trade-Up ID. Anyone else having the same issue?

    • You need to select online option before proceeding to generate trade in code (not go to store)

    • which phone are u trading?

  • is it worth getting this and swapping s21 ultra?

  • I just realised this is for the larger "Fold"…

Is the current price of the Flip3 @ $1,279.20 also a good buy using this trade-in bonus?

    • Trade-in bonus for that is $200.

It's not bad at $1079.20 compared to how much people are paying outside.
However, you would've lost the pre-order bonus and also free Samsung Care that was available during the pre-order period.

      • ah, thanks for that. Where do you see the $200 bonus? I'm logged into the edu store but I don't see any mention of it?

        • +1

Saw it on the main page under Top selling products

      • I found the terms on https://www.samsung.com/au/tradeup/ saying the z flip 3 is $300 bonus. But during check out, it was only $200…

  • $1699.20

thats tempting, I'm sure it will touch 1299 by Christmas

    • What makes you so sure?

      • Samsung wants to capture the fold market before Google and apple jumps in. They even killed Note just to divert customers to Fold. if RRP is 2499 I can expect 50% from Samsung by Christmas. they badly want you to have it. In US they are offering Free try and pay later for 21 days OR you can tradein upto 4 devices (they also include tablets and watches)

        • Good research skill. Like you man….

        • Samsung wants to capture the fold market before Google and apple jumps in.

I think they have 100% of the foldable market right now. Or maybe 99.9% if you count the Motorola Razr. ;)

They even killed Note just to divert customers to Fold.

Are they really aiming at the same market? The cheapest Note is $1,000 less than the cheapest Fold3.
I would think it's the S21 Ultra that's taking over the Note's role since it supports an S Pen too.

if RRP is 2499 I can expect 50% from Samsung by Christmas.

Has there been a Samsung flagship phone that halved in price within 3 months of launch?

          • @eug:

may be in Australia, but in China many foldable are available like from Xiaomi & huawei.

Are they really aiming at the same market?

thats the first step, as per leaks they will promote Z series more than S series moving forward.

Has there been a Samsung flagship phone that halved in price within 3 months of launch?

its already 33% off on EPP now ($2499 to $1699), I can easily guess it will be upto 50% within months.

  • What are the prices for the s21 range on the education store?

    • Looks like they're taking down their online store to me? :\
