Speaker Surround Sound Channel Configuration: 1.0

    Mono surround sound. 🙄

Amazon’s description is wrong as it has two angled sound drivers.

        Wow stereo in 2021.

I saw it cheaper in 1992 at a garage sale

That one had a tube amplifier.

      I get this reference

I dunno what to think tbh. You can get Samsung or LG Soundbar + Subwoofer for cheaper.
I'm not sure if this standalone Bose would be better. Bose is (usually) overpriced due to really good marketing and design.

    • They are really good at making compact speakers though.. The sound I get out of my Soundlink Mini is amazing.

  • I am looking at a soundbar for a crap secondary tv (Bauhn 55 UHD), i dont want to spend a lot for money but i like having descent sound. Can someone tell me whats the best option between this bose soundbar and the Denon soundbar from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Denon-DHT-S216-Bluetooth-Compatible-L... ?
I know the price difference, but doesnt matter, they are bot cheaper, i prefer quality over price

  • Still using a soundlink mini 2 as my computer speaker. Probably would be sitting too close for this, right? Its dimensionally perfect to fit under a 27" monitor width wise…

  • Which is better you guys reckon this or the yamaha yas 109?

    • +1

They're both almost in level, with the Yamaha you'll have to wall mount it to get the most out of the audio as it will be directed to you since the speakers are installed upwards. With the Bose, the speakers are directed to you so it won't matter if it's wall-mounted or sitting on the TV cabinet. Though the Yamaha has Alexa built-in whereas the Bose doesn't, so the smart feature could be the deal-breaker.

    • Not even a comparison.
YAS-109 is the best soundbar in this price range.

  • Showing as out of stock for me.

    • Showing in stock for me.

    Logitech Z906 going strong

    • Altec Lansing ADA305 still going strong

    • Mines sitting in the garage for almost 4 years and haven't used it yet.

    • Same!

  • Is it better than Yamaha YSP 109?

    • They're both almost in level, with the Yamaha you'll have to wall mount it to get the most out of the audio as it will be directed to you since the speakers are installed upwards. • As above, not even a comparison.

Guys just want to say a friend bought this, and we both gave it a good workout, and I can honestly say it's a PIECE OF JUNK.

Not even worth manufacturing, it's mostly empty plastic, very lightweight with two tiny speakers inside. Nothing like other weighty, quality, solid BOSE products.

I didn't want to believe the reviews, being BOSE and all, but seriously it barely competes with a UE Boom (not exaggerating)

Returned for full refund. Try Yamaha, Samsung or Sonos depending on tastes and budget.

What did you expect out of the speaker?

It’s designed and marketed as a speaker to help with dialog and improve sound of your TV listening experience, with options to add sub and rears.

It’s not meant to be a hugely powerful sound experience.

      • Honestly it's barely an improvement on the TV inbuilt speakers, if at all

Really?????. Why are you surprised at this. There is a very good reason why no self respecting audio expert will ever consider Bose as a legitimate player in the audio industry. That's because Bose puts millions of dollars every year into marketing their own garbage. Everyone who knows anything about the audio industry, knows that Bose is considered as an overpriced garbage brand, only purchased by those who don't know better, or just want any overpriced garbage to fill a hole in their lounge room.

      • Because I'm a regular person not an audiophile.

Their portable bluetooth speakers and noise cancelling headphones (QuietComfort3?) seem pretty decent to me and generally review very well, so the assumption from me (and many people I'd say) is that it's all decent stuff. I see now it's more marketing than anything else, they've done a good job.

    • How did you return it for a refund? Did you just say "its quality is crap, I want my money back?"

I got a TCL TS7010 2.1Ch Soundbar , off memory i paid $165 on special at the time and by far its the best sound bar i have had , i went through a few soundbars which would not work with my new 55' Hisense TV (with fully updated firmware) i had to take them back. one of the bars i first trialed a Bose Soundbar 500 which when i got it working was honestly disappointing considering the price i paid but ended up taking it back no questions asked. i ultimately settled on the TCL and am extremely happy with its output at its pricepoint.

Baring in mind this is for a standard sized bedroom but the output is really impressive , the woofer is an added bonus however there is nothing really noteworthy about it so i opted to just use the bar.

Soundbars are honestly a minefield and i have to say from experience its not always the price that matches the quality with these items so shop around

  • Ok thanks

  • There was a Kmart one going for 30 bucks sometime ago with better specs.

So, I don’t own this, but I got it for my folks to go in their living room.

My dad is hard of hearing and often turned the TV up quite high to be able to hear dialogue.

Using the dialogue mode on this, he doesn’t have to, which is beneficial to mum’s sanity.

Im not saying the speaker is amazing, but that dialogue feature is a definite benefit in my parents’ experience.

Hope this is of some assistance to another OzB’er!

We sell plenty of these for that exact reason, improving dialog and the oldies love them! I just can’t get anywhere near the Amazon price :(

    • Some TV feature settings to improve dialogue for those with hearing difficulties. Check those settings first.

Changed audio settings on a $600+ 50" LG TV for elderly relative - was recommended in forums for people with difficulties with hearing. Vast improvement with understanding speech. As he wore hearing aids, there was no need for increased volume a soundbar would provide at an extra cost.

  • You can also get free gift wrapping so you get the full unboxing and unwrapping experience with this.

  • recommend one under 200? for a 7x4m living room
